Cole was immediately accepted into our family of 3 humans and 2 cats. Even our ‘scaredy’ cat warmed up to him quickly! Cole was nothing but warm, professional, friendly, flexible and compassionate. We knew right away that he was the right sitter for our family. He was always in communication, sent sweet photos of our cats while we were away and really cared for our cats. He put our minds at peace while we were away. It is clear that Cole truly loves animals and is very good with them. We are so grateful for all of his love, care and patience.

Brianna is incredible! She comes every Saturday morning to help with our newly diabetic cat's insulin treatment. This requires some level of training to make sure everything is done correctly, and she has been really wonderful through that process. She already knows so much about administering medicine, and she is really easy to teach and talk through any nuance specific to our kitty. She cares for all kinds of animals and has such expertise, making us even more comfortable with her care. She is also more reliable than we could have ever imagined. Always promptly on time and always prioritizing our babies healthcare needs!

About: I am dedicated to providing a loving, comfortable and peaceful environment for every animal under my care. I am professionally insured for pet sitting services beyond Rover’s coverage. I have experience in pet sitting for friends and family since I was 12 years old. I have had animals for most of my life, with experience owning rats, Guinea pigs, bunnies, fish, lizards, frogs, cats and dogs! I am comfortable with pets that may require some extra TLC as well as all breeds, ages, and sizes. I have experience caring for, amphibians, reptiles, small exotics, chickens/baby chicks, goats, puppies, elderly dogs, high energy and anxious dogs, cats and kittens. I am fully devoted to ensuring your pet is safe, happy and feeling right at home in my care! If you have any inquiries about animals outside of my experience listed feel free to send me a message and we can see if I will be the best fit for you! I am an insured pet sitter full time. My schedule during your sitting will be catered to whatever fits you and your pets needs! Let me know what is needed during an overnight sitting: How often is a potty break? What is your usual routine? How long is your pet family comfortable being alone in the house? Let’s go over their daily schedule and routine and come up with a plan for your pets care! I am happy to accommodate any and all of your pets needs. I know each individual has their own requirements for care and special quirks. I treat all pets under my care as if they are my own. I would be happy to use specific leashes, bowls, food, etc. Please let me know what I can do to make your pet have the most positive experience!

About: My first “job” was dog sitting when I was in first grade. I included snuggling them every night in my promise to owners, and to this day nothing has changed. I work at the children’s hospital as a pediatric audiology extern from 7:30 am-6 pm every day. I would love to dog walk on weekday evenings and I am available to pet sit and dog walk on weekends. Pets’ safety is always the number one priority. With me, your pet will never be unattended or in dangerous situations. I also value other people’s space and home.

About: Hi! I’m a caring, responsible, and dependable dog sitter who truly loves animals. I understand that every dog has a unique personality, routine, and set of needs, so I take the time to make each pup feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away. I’m happy to help with feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, cuddles, medication, and plenty of attention. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or calm and cuddly, I’ll provide patient, personalized care while respecting their comfort and boundaries. Your dog’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your furry friend is in loving hands! 🐾❤️ I am a part time college student and worker. I am very flexible for the most part. I'm always open to discussing anything that fits both of our schedules so please don’t hesitate to contact me! I currently only offered house sitting, but depending on the animals needs and the routine the owner introduces me too is how the fur baby will be taken care of.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Durham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in Durham with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Durham. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
