About: I’ve been a cat enthusiast since birth, and always had a few family dogs. Growing up as a kid my family did a lot of pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors. I’d like to get back into it. I have an open availability! I don’t work at all so any time is a good time for me to take care of your fur baby! Let me know how you like your pet taken care of, walked, fed, or played with and I’m more than happy to follow your direction to a T
“Loved using these two as our dog walkers! I did not meet them in person, but the interaction between texts and pictures were very prompt, genuine and kept us up to date with the pups. Thank you again and looking forward to using your services again!”

About: Would love to drop in or walk your pet in my free time to allow you more free time together! I’m a cat lover at heart and I clicker train my own kitties. Thanks to my background in healthcare I can take human concepts and apply them to your baby, understanding behavioral and psychosocial needs including in positive reinforcement and operant conditioning. In my military training as a medic I have become competent in casualty care for military K-9s and this transfers well to making sure your pet is in the right hands! Avid fitness trainer, I aim to get your dog or cat on the walk they need during your work day! A friendly face goes a long way for a long day. I’m currently a part time LPN for work and student at DMACC for Nursing. In my free time I love to train and play with my kitties and I’m looking to help you and your pet enjoy yours’. Outside of nursing I’ve been a service member in the Iowa National Guard since high school, this is where I began my career in healthcare. I want to give your dog and cat a walk or visit they need! I’d be happy to hang out and help play with your cat or dog as well! I do not believe in laser lights or electronic toys as I believe these create anxiety/oc disorder traits within our pets, and thus intend to engage in real connection with your pet.
“Carly was the best with Millie! She keep me updated on everything and was very flexible with my changing plans. Communication was top notch, will be asking her to keep Millie again! The pictures she provided were adorable, Millie enjoyed her time with her”

“Kassy is wonderful and was such a great help with my dog who was having an upset stomach on Kassy’s first day with her! I am so pleased with her, the cute photos she takes, and reports I receive after each visit. She is great!!”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life, of all shapes and sizes. I love all animals. I’ve grown up with working dogs, big dogs, feral cats, farm animals, horses, and everything in between. I am always willing to go for midday lunch walks (in the Ankeny/Polk City area) or weekend check ins in the metro, while you are out and about being social. My husband works blue collar, so sometimes I have a lot of time to myself while he’s working, I’d love to fill in with walks at night or weekends in the Highland Park/Saylor TWP/Beaverdale areas, but willing to venture out into the metro. I am always very cautious when going in for my furry friends for walks, making sure they are safe. I’m full of love and attention and energy to burn so I’d love a buddy. I’ve worked with highly trained dogs, and will honor any and all training your dogs follows.
“It’s clear Meghan enjoys dogs - she loves on Winnie as much as I would! I know she’s getting plenty of love and attention when she’s spending time with Meghan.”

“Jessica was great! She took time out of her night to come visit Koda the night before she walked him and see how they did with each other! She was also a great walker and was willing to just hang out with him outside of his kennel and play with his toys! We will definitely be going back to Jessica again!”

About: I graduated from the University of Minnesota and currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to take on dog-sitting opportunities. I’ve spent my entire life around dogs of all breeds and sizes, and many people in my life would call me the biggest dog lover they know. My family has always had dogs, and they currently have three: Zoey, a 2-year-old Rat Terrier, Rocky, a 4-year-old Lab, and Bella, a 9-year-old Rat Terrier. As a dog sitter, I take pride in creating a safe, fun, and caring environment for every dog I look after. I want them to feel comfortable, happy, and loved while their owners are away! I have a flexible schedule and am available for pet care. I enjoy spending time with dogs of all breeds and focus on providing attentive, reliable care so they feel comfortable while you’re away. I’m familiar with bathroom routines, feeding schedules, and making sure pets get the right balance of play and rest. I understand how important consistency is and can be trusted to administer medications on time when needed. I also have experience with special needs pets, including caring for a blind dog in my own family for many years. I’m patient, attentive, and focused on creating a safe, comfortable environment where every pet feels secure and well cared for.

About: Animals should be treated like the family they are. I have a full acre with multiple secure fences for your animals to play around in. Any animal that loves being pet will get a lot of attention! They deserve to be treated with love and respect because they are apart of your family and are very important. I am a stay at home mom and that gives me a lot of flexibility with timing and scheduling. I am a stay at home mom so I have time to play with your dog and relax with them. They will be outside for a good part of the day with me as long as they want to be. There is plenty of shade as well as water available. There are two fences in place so your dog is really secure. There will always be water available as well as shade. If the weather is bad, or they prefer to be inside most of the day, the downstairs has enough room to run around a bit and is comfortable with a bed and water for them.

About: My family had dogs growing up so I have some experience walking and playing with dogs. I also have had my cats for about 7 years. I work from home Wednesdays and Fridays and could easily stop in for check ins during those days. I love to go on walks to grays lake so definitely looking for a dog or two to take with me. I would prefer a set of rules for my clients pets so I would know best how to service their pet while they are away.
About: My family has had pets my whole life, and I spent a lot of time taking care of them. I’ve always had an ability to connect with animals of all sizes (and attitudes)! One of my strongest suits when meeting a new cat or dog is to evaluate and understand their own specific body language. They can tell us what they need, we just have to listen! I know some pets take a little longer to feel comfortable around a new human, and I always give them the space and patience that they need. I work during the day at a school, so I’m mostly free outside of school hours. I am also off work during school holidays. I do have some evening and weekend activities, but I still have plenty of time to take care of pets. Routines are very important for animals, so I will do what is needed to keep those routines in place and make them feel happy in their own home. As long as I know what the expectations are, we are good to go!
About: I’ve had dogs my whole life. They have been some of my best friends. I love dogs and I love walking — why not combine them to help take care of your much-loved pet? I am newly retired and am looking for a fun, active way to spend my time. I can shape my schedule around my dog and cat care demands. This makes me available and flexible to you. I can come to your home to walk, feed, and play with your pet. You are the boss and I follow your wants and needs.
About: I grew up surrounded by animals and spent most of high school and college as the go-to pet sitter for my friends, family, and neighbors. I’ve cared for all kinds of pets and animals so nothing phases me! Now that I have a bit more flexibility in my schedule, I’m excited to get back to it. As a dog and cat mom myself, I know how stressful it is to leave your babies behind. Whether it's a quick walk, popping in for a welfare check, or house-sitting while you're on vacation, I promise to treat your pets with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. I’m also more than happy to accommodate quirky routines. For example, one of my own cats insists on playing a round of fetch every single night before letting us go to bed. Whatever your pets specific quirks are, I've got them covered! I'm currently working part-time so I have a lot of flexibility when it comes to pet care. I'm available most of the day and all week (including weekends) Even if your house has a fenced in yard I am always present and alert when if comes to letting pets out and playing with them.
About: Caring for people and pets comes naturally to me. I worked in nursing for several years before leaving to care for my father full time.between that and being a mom giving love and care comes easy. I have 3 dogs of my own, all of which are friendly and love a bit of play time. I am a big believer in fresh air and exercise. Let's get those steps in for your 4 legged family member. I don't work a regular job, I care for my elderly father and do some side work here and there. So I am available for walking or drop in visits at a moments notice. I have a fenced in yard and food and treats at the ready. Many leashes and brushes and more. I have 3 dogs of my own that love to play with each other and yours too. Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Des Moines
I rebooked Carly and once again she was fantastic! She kept me up to date at all times. She asked me every day after her walk with my boy what I wanted done with him just incase something had changed. She was very easy to work with when scheduling and always willing to help out more if needed!

Madi has been such a blessing!! I’m new to the area and didn’t have anyone I trusted with Mila as she can be reactive, but after reading Madi’s bio and seeing her interact with Mila during the meet and greet, I knew it would be a great fit! Very responsive, super friendly, and Mila absolutely loves her 😊

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
