About: Interacting with animals has always been the highlight of my day. I have a decade of professional experience with pet care, primarily dogs and cats, but small animals and exotics as well. I have a beloved senior dog and a giant day gecko at home, but I grew up around a large range of animals, including dogs, birds, lizards, frogs, rodents and sugar gliders. I also have a bachelor's degree in biology with a particular interest in animals and plants. As a result, I have the experience, knowledge and passion to provide the high-quality care you're looking for. I currently have a very flexible schedule, which means that I am able to devote plenty of time and attention to your animals. I will keep in touch with you while your precious pets are under my care, so you won't have to worry about their safety and comfort. I am happy to provide detailed updates and photos of the time they spend with me. I would love an opportunity to work with your family! I'm between jobs right now, so I'm able to provide even more time for your pets. When I do find my next job, I will be sure to give advance notice to any clients potentially affected by the change in addition to updating my profile. About: Hiii my name is Xochil, I am 26 years old, new to Rover, and am a fellow pet parent with 2 spoiled kitties and a bearded dragon of my own. I have years of pet sitting experience under my belt including professional pet care at a vet clinic and boarding facility. Along with growing up in a house full of a variety of different animals has made me a natural caregiver for most, if not all pets! Having the hands on experience with all sorts of breeds and temperaments, you can be assured your pet will be safe with me. If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s the understanding that each and every pet is different and one approach might not work for all, instead adjusting to each of your pets’ unique needs. As a pet owner myself, I know how hard it is to find someone to care for your babies when you're away so I am very flexible and understanding to any requests that may make you feel more comfortable- nothings off the table so please ask away! I look forward to hearing for you. I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of availability for your fur babies! At this time, I do not provide in home boarding. I am good at monitoring stools and eating habits, always on the look out for any concerns. I am very weary of entering and exiting homes so pets can not slip out. Outside of the house, I am extra alert for off-leash dogs and other wildlife that may pose issues. If a problem arises with another dog, I know methods of separation and carry dog deterrent spray. I’m always present and in tune with their body language to make sure they’re comfortable and not showing any signs of distress or possible health concerns. The communication line is always open and you will receive plenty of photos with each visit so you can know for certain everything is looking okay. When I’m with your pet, it’s all about your pet and only your pet! I will never do something you have not listed in your instructions- the more in depth the instructions, the better!

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life, of all shapes and sizes. I love all animals. I’ve grown up with working dogs, big dogs, feral cats, farm animals, horses, and everything in between. I am always willing to go for midday lunch walks (in the Ankeny/Polk City area) or weekend check ins in the metro, while you are out and about being social. My husband works blue collar, so sometimes I have a lot of time to myself while he’s working, I’d love to fill in with walks at night or weekends in the Highland Park/Saylor TWP/Beaverdale areas, but willing to venture out into the metro. I am always very cautious when going in for my furry friends for walks, making sure they are safe. I’m full of love and attention and energy to burn so I’d love a buddy. I’ve worked with highly trained dogs, and will honor any and all training your dogs follows.

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and have extensive hands-on experience caring for them in different settings. I grew up with dogs and have been pet sitting for both dogs and cats for many years. I have also worked at a doggy daycare, where I gained experience working with a variety of different breeds and temperaments, as well as managing group play. Beyond companion animals, I have professional experience as a zoo keeper and animal behavior researcher. I have worked at the Cincinnati Zoo and currently work at the Ape Initiative, where I am responsible for the daily husbandry of six bonobos. I also have animal training experience and once trained a goat to complete an obstacle course! Locally, I also worked with Drake University’s Live Mascot Program caring for Griff II, our live bulldog mascot. I helped with his day-to-day care, attended events with him, and administered allergy shots. I’m really excited to bring this experience to Rover and to get to know and care for your pets as if they were my own. I currently work part-time as a zoo keeper at the Ape Initiative, which allows me flexibility in my schedule to provide pet care services. I am available for drop-in visits on Saturdays, and on weekdays at any time except Wednesdays and Thursdays before 2:30 PM. I provide all care in my clients’ homes so pets can stay in their normal, comfortable environment. I stick closely to each pet’s routine and any instructions given, including feeding, litter box care, enrichment, and companionship during visits. I always prioritize a calm, low-stress approach and pay attention to each pet’s body language so they feel safe and cared for while you’re away. I also treat every home with respect and make sure everything is clean and tidy after each visit. I will also send plenty of updates and photos so you can see all the fun we’re having together!

About: Caring for people and pets comes naturally to me. I worked in nursing for several years before leaving to care for my father full time. Between that and being a mom giving love and care comes easy. Sadly, now my father is no longer in my home. His care was too much for an in home setting, but we still visit and he shows my dogs off to everyone in his building. I find myself with time to spare and I know it's hard to get the minutes is for our 4 legged friends during busy weeks so why not let me take some of the burden from your schedule ? I have 2 dogs of my own, both of which are friendly and love a bit of play time. I am a big believer in fresh air and exercise. Let's get those steps in for your 4 legged family member. Cats are welcome too, we have plenty of treats and love to share. I don't work a regular job, I have recently moved my elderly father to a care facility, and I am taking classes to become a certified dog trainer in the hopes of making this my fulltime gig. I am available for walking and/or drop in visits at a moments notice a lot of the time. So let's get this thing started! For walking: usually I do a meet and greet with pet parents before we actually book services. Just to make sure your furry family member and I are fast friends, and also so you can show me how you care for your pet. I like to keep with the same que words and knowing where the leash and stuff is makes getting out of the house so much easier! I do keep a few different leashes and simple harnesses in my vehicle as well just in case it is ever needed. For drop in visits: I like to pop in with big excitement and spend a few minutes with your pet just simply petting and being social. After all drop ins are usually because a pet is in the home alone for an extended period, so we meet the social need first. Then I like to tackle the need to stuff, like feeding, or medication, or whatever the tasks may be, I finish out the visit with cleaning up any supplies, or food dishes, and a quick bit of play just for fun. Ending with a double check of the pet, the tasks, and bid goodbye, check that I leave the home secure and let you know how things went, then I'm off. For Stays: combination of both those with a rinse and repeat action and some added lounging and cuddle time if applicable. With stays I do walk (assuming it's a dog or more) at least once a day but usually more.

About: I have been the main caretaker of any animal I’ve ever had, some because I was the one who begged for it. And others because I just love animals so much that their care is only half the fun. I have experience with animals in all stages of life, from puppies to seniors. My puppy experience ranges from being the one who nursing a parvo puppy back to excellent health, she is now 3 years old and thriving. I also have a senior dog, who is such a joy but I think he forgets he has arthritis with all of his puppy antics. I also have a lot experience with teaching many tricks so don’t be surprised if your animal learns something new every time they see me! I work from home and have only two courses a day, so I have a lot of time on my hands to do a good pet care routine. My babies (my cats and hermit crabs) are on a routine or rather I am. We do feedings in the morning and have an hour of down time for everyone to “stretch” their legs before I go to class. I’m away for 3 hours before I’m back and during that time I can walk a dog if one is staying. And then I work from home so pretty much I’m at the animals beck and call whenever they need anything. I am in an apartment which lessens the risk of anything happening to your pet on my watch! Also with living in an apartment by campus we can always go for walks and meet some college students wanting some animal love!
