“Kenrda was fantastic! She offered to come by and meet the pups a few days before the booking to make sure all things were comfortable. We really appreciated that so the pups could meet her and we could get a feel for how they were with her and for my wife and I to meet her as well. When she was here she paid close attention to feeding instructions and other details etc. and took notes. Kendra is very professional, kind, a relaxed vibe, on-time and great with the pups. She sent us updates on potty breaks, food intake and pictures when the pups were chilling out, with great response times anytime we reached out to her to check in. We could not tell someone was at our house when we returned. We appreciated her being very clean and respectful of our home and of course our pups. Will will re-book with her again for sure. Thanks Kendra :-)”

“Meg took wonderful care of our doggies this weekend! She sent us photos, videos and text message updates of our pups. When we arrived home the dogs were relaxed and happy and our house was neat and tidy. Thanks Meg!”

“Nancy stayed at our house for two nights and was great with our two cats! One needs liquid medicine administered twice a day and she handled it with no problem. Nancy was very communicative, and sent pics & videos for us to see how well our kitties were doing while we were away. We will feel perfectly comfortable using Nancy again!”

“Very happy with how well Nadine took care of all of our pets and our home while we were out of town. The animals all liked her right away, the home was clean when we got home, and she was very responsive with updates.”

“Daniel was amazing! We have a newly adopted puppy and had to leave town for a night shortly after adopting him. Daniel gave us peace of mind while we were away and took great care of our crazy pup!”

“Allison was great!! We have an anxious large Retriever and we came home to a happy content boy! The house was cleaner then when we left and we got so many cute photos and updates. Very happy with Allison and highly recommend!”

“Jessica was an amazing house sitter. The boys got spoiled with her and she was so loving to them. Hey miss her already. She was very prompt with communication. We plan on using her again in the future. Thank you Jessica!!”

“Jenna was such a wonderful sitter for our 2 dogs for a 3 day vacation. House was very clean and she took out the trash and stripped the beds, even though we didn’t tell her to do so. The dogs were so comfortable with her and it was like we weren’t even gone! We will definitely be booking again in the future!!”

“Lexi has been a fantastic sitter for Taz (our dog) and Lola (our cat). This was our first time, so we were very nervous about leaving them for quite a few days, but Lexi ensured we got frequent updates on how they were doing! Constantly checked in and made sure everything was in order. She even took Taz for some car rides and pup cups! She is honestly the sweetest person we've met here in Iowa. Since we recently moved here, it has been awesome to find someone so truly honest, caring, and responsible in taking care of our babies at home. She is an A+!!! 💖”

“Travis was exceptionally quick to respond and very attentive to my three dogs. Two of my dogs can be hyper and he never once seemed put off by their behaviors. I got photo updates from him without having to ask and he was on time to get to my house before we left out of state. If we needed a sitter again, we’d definitely book with Travis.”

“Anthony kept me updated the entire time he was at my house watching our 2 cats and 1 dog. I received lots of pictures and videos that were much appreciated. I feel like everyone was well cared for while we were away.”

“We rebooked Sam to watch our senior frenchie Tiffany while we went out of town for a week. Sam was amazing! They reached out with any questions and sent lots of updates and pictures. We just got home and Tiffany is chill as a cucumber, no stress at all. Sam was wonderful giving Tiffany her meds (there are so many) on schedule and without any issue. We were able to relax and enjoy our trip because Sam was here taking the best care of our Tiffany. Sam is also very friendly and chats with us in the app and in person so this whole situation is even more comfortable because we have a super cool person dog sitting, someone we would want to hang out with and who is competent, funny, and so caring. I cannot recommend Sam enough!”

“Yasmin took excellent care of my dog during a week-long trip and I would definitely book with her again! Ranger gets anxious sometimes, especially when his routine is disrupted, but he seemed happy and content in all of the picture/video updates (and I appreciated her sending those regularly). Thank you for keeping my best friend happy and healthy while we were gone, Yasmin!”

“Kennedy did an amazing job! She sent us numerous photos of our dogs throughout the house sitting process and gave detailed noted on how the dogs were doing. I really appreciated her communication and consistency”

“Angie was truly phenomenal—we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was so kind, responsive, and incredibly accommodating, especially with our puppy. Her communication was excellent and gave us total peace of mind knowing our dogs were so well cared for. It was so clear how much love and attention she gave them. We would trust Angie again in a heartbeat and cannot recommend her highly enough. She’s an absolute gem!”

About: I have always been around animals and taking care of them since I can remember. What sets me apart is my patience, reliability, and ability to adapt to each pet’s individual needs and personality. I have experience caring for pets of all ages, including energetic puppies and kittens who need extra attention, structure, and consistency, as well as senior pets who require a calmer environment, medication schedules, and gentle care. I focus on creating a safe, comfortable, and stress-free experience by maintaining routines, providing plenty of affection and exercise, and paying close attention to behavior changes or health concerns. I’m also highly organized with feeding schedules, walks, cleanup, and communication, so owners can feel confident their pets are in caring and dependable hands. I have three cats at home(Boomer, Clementine and Perci) As well as one very sweet Great Dane (Gretta)! From June 1st- June 14th I am getting my CNA so I will not be available between the times of 7am-4pm on weekdays. Other than that I am able to do anything to meet your pet sitting and or dog walking needs. As well as after these two weeks I am free and available whenever. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I carefully follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, clean litter boxes, and make sure pets receive plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. I also monitor their behavior and overall wellbeing to ensure they stay comfortable and healthy while their owners are away. I respect each client’s home by keeping everything clean, organized, and secure, and I provide regular updates so owners feel reassured that their pets are safe and well cared for.
“WOW! Missy was amazing. She took my puppy on several long walks. She even cleaned my apartment for me. Also had great communication. Definitely would ask her to sit again for me! :)”

“Monica was great. Very professional, communicated well, and took great care of the house and our dog. Will definitely be on my list for future sitter or dog walker needs.”

About: I have had animals in my home since I was a child. I got my own puppy about 10 years ago and trained him to be a guard dog during my time as a missionary in west Africa. I love animals and treat them like family. I currently work remotely from home, so I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule when I’m not traveling. I am very attentive to the animals in my care! I currently don’t live in a home that allows pets, but I have had a lot of experience taking care of people’s pets and homes while they have been away.

Amethyst was a huge help for us - stepping up when our other sitter had to cancel on short notice. She took great care of the pups while we were gone. We got several updates throughout the day, along with several pictures of the kiddos. We will definitely keep her in mind for the next time!

Travis watched our puppers over the Xmas holiday. He did so last minute and was great about adapting to changes (and a bit of a chaotic house) as Xmas plans shifted to include funeral plans. Our pups were happy and healthy looking when we returned and Travis was very responsive to communications while we were gone. Thanks again for everything, Travis!

It was our first (and definitely not our last) time having Alex dog sit our 4 dogs. He did an excellent job—we will absolutely book with him again! We received lots of updates and photos while we were away, and when we got back, the dogs were happy and the house was nice and clean. Highly recommend Alex’s services!

Will definitely book Amy again! Tillie and Kiki were so content when we returned home. They even ate while we were gone, and that is rare! Amy was very responsive and respectful of our desires for pet care details. It is obvious that Amy genuinely loves animals and poured that into ours ❤️

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Saylorville on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 646 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Saylorville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saylorville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saylorville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saylorville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
