“Jillian was a great sitter for Romeo! He was happy and snoozy when I picked him up. Jillian was super responsive with updates. I had a few travel snafus on the way and Jillian was very understanding and flexible.”

“Sandy is absolutely wonderful! I was so impressed with her knowledge of dogs and how perceptive she was with our Daisy girl. So much so, we have already booked her for another trip to watch our pup. I would highly recommend her. It is very clear she is an animal lover and Daisy was immediately comfortable with her. I was grateful that she set up a meet and greet before booking to make sure we would all be a good fit. So thankful to have found Sandy and she will absolutely be our go-to dog sitter from now on!”

“Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Layla. We were a little nervous leaving her, since its her first time with you after so long but seeing how happy, calm and well-adjusted she was with you had put our hearts completely at ease. It takes a truly special person to make a dog feel at home away frrom home, and you have done that so beautifully. Thank you for the love, patience, and all the time to time updates. We are so grateful we found you. With Love, Effie & fly”

“This was our first time leaving our pup (Benji) with Pam. We went away on vacation for 4 days, 3 nights and felt so comfortable. Every day she sent us tons of pictures showing us how much fun Benji was having at camp. When I picked up Benji at end of vacation, I don’t think he initially wanted to leave. We think Benji May have had more fun than we did. ? Thumbs up to Pam ???”
“Michelle is amazing! We are new to the area and had a negative experience with a different sitter previously. I was so nervous to try someone new. We found Michelle and I am SO grateful!! I honestly think our dog didn’t want to leave her house. She sent tons of photos and updates. Our Great Dane is sensitive to new situations and will refuse to eat. Michelle waited with her during each meal so she would eat. She truly went above and beyond and I can not recommend her enough.”

“Like most people, I was very nervous about leaving my dogs with someone while I was away. However, from the moment I met Alissa I knew my two babies would be okay. She spent a lot of time with us during our initial meet and greet. She answered all our questions and allowed our dogs to hang out in her backyard and just really reassured us that she will love them the same way we do. She communicated regularly while we were gone and sent pictures and videos. What I also appreciated is that she is flexible with drop off and pick up times. So instead of our dogs staying another night, we were able to pick them up on our way home from our trip. I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family.”

“Theresa is great. Was happy to leave my dog with her. Daily updates and overall attitude made our vacation much more enjoyable as we were confident that our guard poodle was in good hands.”

“Jennifer was a phenomenal pet sitter! My dog, Kona, didn’t even want to leave and was very excited the next time we returned. It’s difficult to find people you trust with your pets, but Jennifer is that person!”

“Gerald did a great job with my senior foster, Pam. She deals with significant anxiety and back-leg pain, so I was nervous about leaving her in a new space with a stranger, but I had nothing to worry about. She settled in quickly and even felt comfortable enough to trick Gerald into getting off the couch so she could steal his spot. Although she’s usually reluctant to be active, she went on several walks with him. Gerald was also great about sending regular photos and updates, and very flexible when I ran late for pickup. Highly recommended for anyone with a senior or high-needs dog.”

“Trisha was great, she kept us in the loop with pictures and texts the whole evening. It was the first time we left our dog Jax who’s 1-1/2 old boxer with tons of energy. Thank you Trisha and we will definitely leave Jax with again and again.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs of all breeds and sizes since I was 16. Friends, neighbors, and family have always trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and love on their pets like they’re my own. Whether it’s playful puppies, energetic adults, or gentle seniors, I’m patient, attentive, and truly enjoy keeping pets happy and safe. I’d love to give your furry friend the same care and affection! “Isabella was amazing with my two dogs while I was away. She kept me updated the entire time with lots of pictures and communication, which gave me so much peace of mind. She has such a loving and caring family environment, and my dogs were clearly very comfortable there — even my little nervous one. I am so grateful for the care she gave them and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, trustworthy, and attentive pet sitter.”

My experience includes puppy socialization and specialized senior dog care, ensuring every dog in my charge receives the individual attention and expert care they deserve, making their time with me feel just like your home. At the moment now, I am unemployed so that gives me more then enough time (even every day) to help take care of your pup when you need it! With every pet is different, I like to converse with the owner about the character of the dog and habits as well as any other important health information that I should keep in mind before sitting, and if it is in your home, I’m very well mannered and have respect for not just the home but pups safety too
“Shannen hosted my pup Leo for another extended stay and is just the best! Great and timely updates, and treats Leo like a part of her family. I’m sure Leo already can’t wait to see her again!”

“Dawn watched Pearl, our 16 month old Hungarian Puli, for 2 days. This was Pearl's first stay away from home without us. After our Meet and Greet when I brought Pearl back to Dawn's to stay, Pearl was very happy to go into the house. Dawn took very good care of Pearl and sent us photos of her even though Pearl is a bit "camera shy". When we picked Pearl up she seemed happy to see us but sad to leave Dawn. Dawn made this first experience great for dog and owners alike”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Deer Park
We had such a great experience with our dog sitter! They watched our dog overnight and did an amazing job. Our pup was well cared for, and happy the whole time. They were reliable, caring, and kept us updated throughout the stay. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their dog!

I had an amazing experience with Karishma. Leaving my pup is never easy but she made the entire process stress free, was so kind, caring and kept me updated by sending videos every hour, which gave me so much peace of mind. My puppy looked happy, comfortable, and well cared for the whole time. Her home was clean, safe, and a great environment for dogs. I truly appreciated the love and attention she gave him and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. I will definitely book with her again!

Jamie is absolutely amazing!! She was an excellent care taker for our dog.. making sure to keep his meds on schedule... getting him to eat on a schedule when he normally doesnt (he's a grazer!) and allowing him priority position with her on the couch during the few moments of rest they both had. I got a regular stream of photos and check ins about my dog and never had a doubt he was in great hands. The only doubt I had was whether my dog was going to want to come home. She is so great with dogs and I know for sure we will be using her again in the future. Thank you for everything Jamie!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
