“Dawn, made my Optimus Prime right at home. From our meet and greet,I knew she would take care of Optimus like her own. She’s very detail oriented(+++),took time to know Optimus behavior, likes and dislikes, eating schedule, habits which for me is very reassuring that he will be well taken cared of. Dawn also gave frequent updates and sent photos of Optimus. She was also very helpful in administering medication for Optimus . Dawn is the BEST !!!”

“Iris w/her husband took care of my two pups Mia & Milo the last 5 days. They took such great care of them. Milo still a puppy at 13 months & Mia a 10.5. They handled them both with such care. With special instructions for Mia’s medicine to my hyper playful puppy seeking attention often. Iris sent pictures & videos showing me how happy & content they were! They’ll be back with Iris in just a few short days again! I’m so happy that I feel 💯 at ease knowing they’re in great hands!! Highly recommend Iris taking care of your fur babies too.”

“We are thrilled with our experience with John! This was our first time using this site, and he was amazing with our Benny. He kept us updated with pictures and videos, which made us feel at ease. Having his dog Dallas around was a definitely bonus. Thank you, John! We would love to work with you again and highly recommend you!”

“I can’t say how amazing Veronique and her family was to my dogs! I was able to fully relax on my vacation knowing how well my dogs were being taken care of. The pick up and drop off option was such a bonus because my dogs are big and I have trouble getting them into the car, they also arrived right on time. They sent a lot of pictures and updates which I really appreciated and I will definitely re-book again when the time comes. 100% recommend this amazing family.”

“Trinity was kind and worked really well with our dog. She was willing to continue reinforcing our training throughout the day, which we really appreciated. She also sent lots of photos and videos, which was so nice and reassuring. Our dog was clearly well cared for, and we will definitely be using her again. Highly recommend!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter for Duke! From the moment we met Theresa and family, it was clear how caring, responsible, and attentive she is. Duke was so happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away, which gave us complete peace of mind. We especially appreciated the updates, photos, and the extra love and attention Theresa gave him. It’s obvious Theresa truly cares about the dogs she watches and Duke absolutely adored her. We are so grateful and would highly recommend Theresa to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and amazing to care for their pets!”

“Jamie did amazing while I was away, I was so right to trust her, she sent me picture anytime I asked. It was my first time leaving my puppy with a doggy sitter and I made an excellent choice choosing Jamie! I will be back most definitely.”

About: I can still cry when I tell someone the story of when I got my first dog at 13yrs old. I held that adorable golden retriever pup and cried asking if it was really mine! The story of bringing another golden retriever into the lives of my daughters can yet again bring me to tears! Such precious memories! I am now on my second chocolate lab (easier hair drying time lol). Anyway a dog enters my life it is always special. That includes my daughter's cockapoo who has stolen my heart! Whenever I am out and see a dog, no matter what the breed, I always ask to say hello and give a pet! My family and friends sometimes call me the "Dog whisperer" because I am always ready to help should a question arise about care. I have cared for friends and family dogs many times and am ready to help with yours and create a special bond while doing so! I'm currently working in a school. Therefore, my availability during the week is limited. I am available for pop ins and walks after 4pm. Saturday and Sunday I have more availability and during the summer months. I walk my dog every morning and enjoy playing in my backyard. I am always giving lots of love and attention be it snuggles or cookies! Of course the cookies are given in moderation even when it is hard to resist the eyes of my dog asking for one!
“Amber was the best sitter for our furbaby, Marla. She treated her like her own and took care of her while we were away. Marla enjoyed her vacation at Amber’s place. We will definitely book Amber’s service again.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They kept my dog at their home for 2 days, sent updates and pictures, and were kind and attentive. It was clear my dog was happy and well taken care of. I’m very grateful and would absolutely book with them again.”

“Dilania is the best sitter we’ve had so far. She is super friendly and her dogs are such delights! Her yard is very big so the dogs had so much space to play and run around. She is also very understanding and took care of Ghost as if he were her own. We will definitely continue to use Dilania as our sitter.”

“Trisha was great, she kept us in the loop with pictures and texts the whole evening. It was the first time we left our dog Jax who’s 1-1/2 old boxer with tons of energy. Thank you Trisha and we will definitely leave Jax with again and again.”

“Sarah abs her family were amazing. She kept us up to date with texts, photos and videos every day. She paid special attention to every detail about our pups and gave us some excellent tips on modifying certain behaviors. We would definitely recommend her without hesitation.”
“Karishma was terrific with Gracie. She sent us lots of pictures and videos, and she went out of her way to make Gracie feel comfortable. (She even cooked a special dinner for her.). And when we told her it was Gracie’s birthday, she went to the pet store and bought her a birthday cookie! I highly recommend using Karishma to care for your pup!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs of all breeds and sizes since I was 16. Friends, neighbors, and family have always trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and love on their pets like they’re my own. Whether it’s playful puppies, energetic adults, or gentle seniors, I’m patient, attentive, and truly enjoy keeping pets happy and safe. I’d love to give your furry friend the same care and affection! I run my own social media marketing agency from home, so your pups will never be left alone for long stretches. I’m around throughout the day to give them playtime, potty breaks, and all the love they need. I’m available for boarding everyday but Tuesday’s and walks or drop-ins on weekdays after 2pm. I have a secure fenced yard and one friendly puppy who love making new pals and is crate trained. Your fur baby will get plenty of exercise, safe outdoor time, and supervised play. I can also crate them if needed. I treat every pet like my own, keeping them happy, comfy, and safe.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Huntington
What a wonderful experience for Wally and me with Caroline watching him! He did not want to come home! She is a loving dog mom herself and sent me lots of photos while he stayed with her – he was smiling in all of them. Cannot recommend Caroline highly enough.
Above and beyond! Our boys have alot of differing special needs. Annabelle understood all of our needs and gave us every confidence our boys were going to be safe and loved. We loved the photo updates. They came home tired and not over fed. We will definitely book again.

Nav is our go to pet sitter for our elderly husky. We have booked Nav so many times for when we travel that may dog gets excited when he pull up to her house. She sends many photos and videos during his stay, and our dog looks happy and relaxed. We are lucky to have found Nav !

From the moment we met Anna, we knew she was a good fit! She made booking the meet and greet, drop off and pick up super easy. Scout liked Anna’s sweet disposition and I liked that she kept us updated! Scout came home happy and healthy. We would highly recommend Anna to anyone in need of a pet sitter!

Lesley was amazing with Winston. Winston is an only child. When he met Lesley, Karen and their 2 dogs (Dyson & Rory), Winston was scared. We stayed for almost 1 hr for meet and greet. Then, I took Winston back 2 more times for meet and greet so that Winston could be comfortable with Dyson & Rory. Needless to say, Winston bonded with both dogs, especially Dyson. Lesley and Karen were very accommodating, kind and attentive to Winston. Karen is home all the time. Winston is never alone. Their house and enclosed back yard is dog heaven. Everything is dog friendly. In fact, when Winston stayed with them, he did not like his dog food that he had been eating all his life, Karen supplemented his food by cooking for him. Lesley and Karen are dog lovers and will go above and beyond for Winston. I got daily photos and video of him. Winston loves staying with Lesley and Karen. He was mopping around the house for a couple of days when we got back home because he missed his doggy friends. I highly recommend Lesley and Karen. Winston will definitely be back!!!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
