“Sal’s 3rd stay with Theresa. He literally pulls me to the door when I drop him off. She is fantastic and Sal gets plenty of exercise with her. I will be back again”

About: My dog Winnie is 17, so I’ve had lots of experience as a pet carer! Even though Winnie is a small dog, I have experience pet sitting and walking large dogs. I also love cats and have welcomed them into my home to cat sit over the last several years. I work as an independent artist and bartender, so I have a flexible schedule that gives me availability to take care of your furry friend or feline when you’re working! I am available morning, evening and night on weekdays and morning and afternoons on the weekends. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet by following their routine closely and giving them plenty of attention, care, and supervision. I understand how important trust is when caring for someone’s pet, and I treat every animal with patience, responsibility, and love.
“Trisha was great, she kept us in the loop with pictures and texts the whole evening. It was the first time we left our dog Jax who’s 1-1/2 old boxer with tons of energy. Thank you Trisha and we will definitely leave Jax with again and again.”

About: I have been watching and taking care of friends/family dogs for years and have raised my own since he was a 8 weeks old. I can clip nails, bath give ear/eye treatments if ever needed. I work remotely from home for the most part and would only accept to care if I am home that day. I have a 30 lb Klee Kai mix at home who would accompany your pet on walks/play time and naps. Walks would be about every 2-3 hours for potty breaks. For extra outdoor play time we could go out on the large patio on my floor. Pets are allowed to hang out and nap on couch
“Ollie had a great stay with Alissa! She was very communicative and Ollie seemed to have a great time. Very conveniently located near the Hicksville train station. Would happily book with her again.”

“I had the best experience with Amber boarding my pup. From the start, she made me feel completely comfortable. She sent me daily updates with pictures and videos, and it was so reassuring to see how happy and well cared for Chase was. You can truly tell she loves what she does. I’m beyond grateful for the care she gave my pup and will definitely be returning. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, loving, and reliable! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Michelle is fantastic! She checked in with me multiple times each day and sent pictures and videos whenever possible. She was responsive when I sent messages and questions. My pups were well taken care of.”

“Laura and Josh took great care of our puppy! They sent lots of pictures and updates and gave her tons of attention and walks. Ava seemed really sweet and the two dogs got along well. Highly recommend!”

“My dog, Blue, came back from his long weekend with Giovanna in a happy little mood. I can tell he really enjoyed his visit, and that means so much! Giovanna sent photos while we were away, which was reassuring. She certainly kept Blue busy with snowy walks. He's a dog who likes to be active. I could not be happier with this first booking.”

“I’m very happy for leaving my dog with Laurie and her family Woody seems to be very happy and they taking care of him super well Tku so much and we will see you soon”

“Dawn was wonderful! Our two dogs stayed with her for the weekend. She has a big fenced-in backyard for playtime and couches for snuggles! We received texts and photos with updates and knew they had a nice, relaxed visit. Dawn took great care of our little ones!”

“Jen did a great job with our beagle Daisy. She was inquisitive regarding Daisy’s needs, schedule, and likes/dislikes. She sent us pictures and updates throughout the time and even got Daisy to give a big smile on one of her pictures. We will definitely use her again.”
“We were definitely happy with our dog’s stay with Veronique and her family. We got lots of pictures and videos while we were away, and she was very responsive if we had any questions.”

“Dan and Denise are AWESOME!! I had a family emergency during the coronavirus crisis and had to find a sitter for my brother's six year old pitbull, Blue, ASAP. I went on Rover.com and sent an email to Dan at 3:00 A.M. asking if he could take care of Blue for us, not just for a few days but almost a month! To my surprise, Dan answered me immediately! We arranged for a "greet and meet" the next day and fortunately Dan and Denise were able to take Blue in that very same day. I was so afraid Blue was going to have separation anxiety and be distressed since he has always been with my brother - that fear quickly subsided with Dan and Denise reassuring me he would be well looked after and they had taken care of many, many dogs, including pitties. Well, Blue was one SPOILED pup during his stay! Dan and Denise have a beautiful home, a large fenced in yard for their doggie guests to play in and the T.L.C. is first class! Each day, I would receive a text update and either a video or picture from Denise and Dan showing Blue running in the yard, snoozing in bed, hanging out in the living room or laying next to Denise in her office. I was able to go see Blue several times during his extended stay and he was always content and happy! I cannot thank Dan and Denise enough for their kindness to Blue and our family during this difficult time and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them !!”

“Nicholas did a fantastic job watching Duke during boarding. He kept us well in the loop with tons of photos. Duke seemed like he was having such a great time, I wondered if he even wanted to come home! We will certainly be using Nicholas again in the future!”

“Samantha and her family were wonderful. They were reassuring and kept in contact with us through pictures of our Merlin. We were apprehensive about leaving him because he is an indoor-outdoor cat. They had no issues with that and kept him safe and loved. Highly recommend!”

About: I can still cry when I tell someone the story of when I got my first dog at 13yrs old. I held that adorable golden retriever pup and cried asking if it was really mine! The story of bringing another golden retriever into the lives of my daughters can yet again bring me to tears! Such precious memories! I am now on my second chocolate lab (easier hair drying time lol). Anyway a dog enters my life it is always special. That includes my daughter's cockapoo who has stolen my heart! Whenever I am out and see a dog, no matter what the breed, I always ask to say hello and give a pet! My family and friends sometimes call me the "Dog whisperer" because I am always ready to help should a question arise about care. I have cared for friends and family dogs many times and am ready to help with yours and create a special bond while doing so! I'm currently working in a school. Therefore, my availability during the week is limited. I am available for pop ins and walks after 4pm. Saturday and Sunday I have more availability and during the summer months. I walk my dog every morning and enjoy playing in my backyard. I am always giving lots of love and attention be it snuggles or cookies! Of course the cookies are given in moderation even when it is hard to resist the eyes of my dog asking for one!
“Lesley was amazing with Winston. Winston is an only child. When he met Lesley, Karen and their 2 dogs (Dyson & Rory), Winston was scared. We stayed for almost 1 hr for meet and greet. Then, I took Winston back 2 more times for meet and greet so that Winston could be comfortable with Dyson & Rory. Needless to say, Winston bonded with both dogs, especially Dyson. Lesley and Karen were very accommodating, kind and attentive to Winston. Karen is home all the time. Winston is never alone. Their house and enclosed back yard is dog heaven. Everything is dog friendly. In fact, when Winston stayed with them, he did not like his dog food that he had been eating all his life, Karen supplemented his food by cooking for him. Lesley and Karen are dog lovers and will go above and beyond for Winston. I got daily photos and video of him. Winston loves staying with Lesley and Karen. He was mopping around the house for a couple of days when we got back home because he missed his doggy friends. I highly recommend Lesley and Karen. Winston will definitely be back!!!!”

“Jason is a True Dog Lover! I cannot recommend Jason highly enough! He recently watched Cookie, and the experience was absolutely fantastic. It's immediately clear that Jason is a genuine dog person who cares deeply about the animals in his care. Cookie took to him right away, which put my mind completely at ease. A huge plus is his great, secure backyard—it was the perfect place for Cookie to run around and burn off some energy safely. I received happy updates, pictures and knew she was in the best hands. I am so grateful to have found such a reliable and caring sitter. We will definitely be using Jason's services again and again. Thank you to Jason and his family for everything.”

Caroline was amazing with our pup! Not only was she able to fit us in last minute when we were in a pinch, but she made my pup feel so at home in her home while we were out of town. Not having to worry about your pup while you’re out of town because you know they are being cared for and loved by someone makes it so much easier to go away.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
