“This was our first time booking with Brenda, and she did an excellent job of making my pup feel at home and putting my mind at ease. She really treated Gracie as if she was her own, with lots of affection, play, and exercise. She did a great job of communicating with me also, sending updates, pictures, and videos. I would definitely book with Brenda again.”

“Samantha and her family were wonderful. They were reassuring and kept in contact with us through pictures of our Merlin. We were apprehensive about leaving him because he is an indoor-outdoor cat. They had no issues with that and kept him safe and loved. Highly recommend!”

“Dawn was wonderful! Our two dogs stayed with her for the weekend. She has a big fenced-in backyard for playtime and couches for snuggles! We received texts and photos with updates and knew they had a nice, relaxed visit. Dawn took great care of our little ones!”

“Kristen and her partner were amazing! We received many photos of Mako on walks and hanging out with them at home. Knowing Mako was well taken care of gave us piece-of-mind to enjoy the weekend of wedding activities. Thanks Kristen!”

“We were definitely happy with our dog’s stay with Veronique and her family. We got lots of pictures and videos while we were away, and she was very responsive if we had any questions.”

“Ginia was absolutely fantastic! She sent videos and pictures so often that we felt we were there with our pup. You can tell she really loves your dog like her own and she even said our Joey was now "part of her pack". Would not think twice to have her watch our little guy again. We felt so comfortable and at ease on our vacation since we knew he was in such good hands!”

“Kristin took wonderful care of our puppy, Scruffy for two days while my family and I were away. Kristin sent us photos and videos of Scruffy and was always available to respond quickly to our messages. Our puppy was in great hands while we were away. I will definitely look to board Scruffy with Kristin again on our next trip!”

“Caroline was amazing with our pup! Not only was she able to fit us in last minute when we were in a pinch, but she made my pup feel so at home in her home while we were out of town. Not having to worry about your pup while you’re out of town because you know they are being cared for and loved by someone makes it so much easier to go away.”

“Rachel and Henrik (and their two wonderful kids!) watched our two Goldendoodles for the weekend, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. From the start, it was clear this was a perfect fit—we did a meet-and-greet beforehand, and instantly felt comfortable. Their home is beautiful, clean, and has a great backyard where our dogs had plenty of space to run and play. More importantly, our dogs were treated like part of the family—they got tons of attention, snuggles, and care all weekend. We also really appreciated the frequent updates and photos, which gave us total peace of mind. When we dropped them off, our dogs were so excited they ran right in without hesitation—that says everything. You can truly tell how much Rachel and Henrik love dogs and care for them as their own. One of the nicest families we’ve met, and we felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were so well cared for. We will absolutely be using them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional dog care.”

“I was nervous to board my puppy for the first time. Marcia created a warm and caring environment for Sterling from the beginning. She sent me pictures each day and consistently reassured me he was doing well. My puppy was sad to leave! Highly reccomend her! I will be using again for sure?”

“I’m very happy for leaving my dog with Laurie and her family Woody seems to be very happy and they taking care of him super well Tku so much and we will see you soon”

“I always trust that my dog will be safe and happy when he goes to Kerri’s. She is great with him but also super responsive with me. Always love seeing photos of my dog having a great time while I am away. Thanks Kerri!”

“Jason is a True Dog Lover! I cannot recommend Jason highly enough! He recently watched Cookie, and the experience was absolutely fantastic. It's immediately clear that Jason is a genuine dog person who cares deeply about the animals in his care. Cookie took to him right away, which put my mind completely at ease. A huge plus is his great, secure backyard—it was the perfect place for Cookie to run around and burn off some energy safely. I received happy updates, pictures and knew she was in the best hands. I am so grateful to have found such a reliable and caring sitter. We will definitely be using Jason's services again and again. Thank you to Jason and his family for everything.”

About: For over 15 years, I’ve been the trusted companion for pets of all shapes and sizes—offering belly rubs, playtime, and plenty of love while their owners are away. From energetic puppies to wise old souls, I understand each pet’s unique needs and personality. Whether it’s long walks, petting and brushing sessions, or keeping up with special care routines, I treat every furry friend like family. With decades of experience and a true passion for animals, you can leave your pet in my care with complete peace of mind. Because to me, pet sitting isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong love. I’m currently working part-time. So I’ll have plenty of time to play with your extended family members. I’m available for day time walks, as needed, and full boardings during the week, after 3pm, and most weekends. I am flexible with the boarding times as well so if you need me earlier, I’m sure we can work something out. I have a fully fenced in yard about 1/4 of an acre for your family member to stretch their legs and run around. I have one friendly mini schnauzer, Molly, that I am the proud owner of. I can easily crate your dog if needed or if your furry pal needs some time alone I have plenty of space within my home that they are allowed to freely roam. Sometimes this is needed from first meetings because, not unlike people, dogs may take time to get acclimated to one another. I do require a first meet before agreeing to take on new clients for the safety of myself, Molly and my home.
About: My dog Winnie is 17, so I’ve had lots of experience as a pet carer! Even though Winnie is a small dog, I have experience pet sitting and walking large dogs. I also love cats and have welcomed them into my home to cat sit over the last several years. I work as an independent artist and bartender, so I have a flexible schedule that gives me availability to take care of your furry friend or feline when you’re working! I am available morning, evening and night on weekdays and morning and afternoons on the weekends. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every pet by following their routine closely and giving them plenty of attention, care, and supervision. I understand how important trust is when caring for someone’s pet, and I treat every animal with patience, responsibility, and love.

“Dan and Denise are AWESOME!! I had a family emergency during the coronavirus crisis and had to find a sitter for my brother's six year old pitbull, Blue, ASAP. I went on Rover.com and sent an email to Dan at 3:00 A.M. asking if he could take care of Blue for us, not just for a few days but almost a month! To my surprise, Dan answered me immediately! We arranged for a "greet and meet" the next day and fortunately Dan and Denise were able to take Blue in that very same day. I was so afraid Blue was going to have separation anxiety and be distressed since he has always been with my brother - that fear quickly subsided with Dan and Denise reassuring me he would be well looked after and they had taken care of many, many dogs, including pitties. Well, Blue was one SPOILED pup during his stay! Dan and Denise have a beautiful home, a large fenced in yard for their doggie guests to play in and the T.L.C. is first class! Each day, I would receive a text update and either a video or picture from Denise and Dan showing Blue running in the yard, snoozing in bed, hanging out in the living room or laying next to Denise in her office. I was able to go see Blue several times during his extended stay and he was always content and happy! I cannot thank Dan and Denise enough for their kindness to Blue and our family during this difficult time and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them !!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Northport
I had a great experience with Nelson for overnight boarding and I would highly recommend him. He took such great care of my puppy and treated her like part of the family. My dog, Chloe and his dog got along well and played nicely together. Communication was great throughout the experience, with the just the right amount of updates and photos each day. My pup came home happy, tired, and clearly well-loved. I couldn’t ask for better care and would definitely book with Nelson again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
