We booked Lissette for a second time, and couldn’t be happier. She house sat for a week and a half, and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that everything was taken care of at home. Our cat and our dog have formed a very cute bond with her, as we’ve seen by all the photos she sends us of them cuddling! Our home was clean and well taken care of when we returned. Can’t wait to book with Lissette again!

Ava is an absolute gem of a care taker for both my cat and my home. I recommend her wholeheartedly. She is trustworthy and sent me many photos, even when communication channels were limited as my husband and I were traveling internationally. She richly deserves all five stars in my rating.

About: Hi! I’m a dog lover with hands-on experience as a dog bather, sitter, and walker. I’ve worked with all kinds of dogs, from high-energy puppies to sweet senior dogs—so I’m comfortable adjusting to whatever your dog needs. What sets me apart is how much I genuinely care. I treat every dog like my own, whether that means getting their energy out on a fun walk or giving them a calm, gentle experience. I’m patient, attentive, and experienced with different personalities, and I always make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and loved. I am openly available to be of service to you and your pets any day of the week any time! Weekdays, weekends, holidays, overnights and more. I care for pets in their own home by keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, litter box or potty breaks, walks, playtime, and any medications if needed. I make sure pets get plenty of attention, comfort, and supervision while respecting their space and personality—whether they’re playful and social or more shy and independent. I also keep the home clean, secure, and provide regular updates so you know your pet is safe and happy while you’re away.

About: Hello, my name is Maddy. I have cared for dogs since I was a little girl, over 15 years. I have always had 3 dogs, varying in age and size, that I have been responsible for. I am comfortable walking, feeding, playing and cuddling with small, medium and large dogs. I currently have 3 Golden Retrievers; Mille, Richard and Blue. I have experience housesitting and pet sitting for multiple dogs. I am comfortable with caring for multiple dogs at the same time (the more the merrier!!). I work fully remote and have a very flexible schedule. I would love to help out others who don't get to work from home with their pets. I am available to feed, walk, check-in, play and more with any pups. If there are any specific instructions or things you are looking for, I am here to help! I work full-time remote with a very flexible schedule. I can adjust my full-time work around my personal schedule. I am able to work in different places as long as I have my laptop and phone with me. I love to spend time outdoors and am comfortable with walking multiple dogs at the same time. I am a quick learner and will adjust to pet and pet owners preferences. I will keep your pup(s) safe, just like I do for my three dogs.

About: Hi! I am an experienced pet sitter with over 10 years of animal experience. I studied animal science as an undergrad and will be starting veterinary school this winter. I have also worked in veterinary clinics over the past few years, providing me with experience in administering medications and providing care for animals with specific needs. I am comfortable caring for animals of all ages, shapes, and sizes! I'm a fairly active person who loves the outdoors, so I am always up for long walks or simply playing in the yard. I have some extra time before starting veterinary school, so I have a very flexible schedule that I am looking forward to filling with your furry family members! I currently have a very flexible schedule before I begin veterinary school this winter, so I have plenty of availability for walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting. I’m happy to work with your schedule and provide consistent, reliable care for your pets throughout the week, including weekends. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. With my experience in veterinary clinics and animal care, I’m comfortable administering medications, following specific care instructions, and recognizing when a pet may need extra attention. I’ll treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I would my own, and I’ll always keep you updated with photos and messages while you’re away.

Andrea did such a wonderful job with our boys. We have a dog and a cat, and they both clearly loved spending a whole week with her. She had great communication, sending us photos throughout the day to keep us up to date. She was also incredibly respectful of our home, leaving it in perfectly clean condition for our arrival. We never worried about our boys throughout the week, which is the most we can ask for! Thank you Andrea!

Samantha took amazing care of my three dogs while we were away. My dog had a medical issue that needed attention and she took great care of him. He required daily cleaning of his infection and administering of both oral and topical medications. He isn’t always easy to take care of because he is sometimes fearful and anxious. She still made sure he was taken care of successfully. I really appreciate her going the extra mile to make sure my babies were given lots of love and attention. Thank you!

About: Neighbors and family have relied on me to care for their pets, including elderly and special needs animals, as well as exotic reptiles and birds, many times. I’m a part-time student in eco-toxicology at this time studying online so I’m around full time for pet care, feel free to reach out for care any day of the week! I am fully vaccinated! My home is full of people and pets so I don’t typically do boarding unless I know you and your pet well. I am happy to water plants if needed as well! About: I have grown up around both dogs and cats-our family pets included Rottweilers, German Shepards, and smaller mixed dogs as well. We had both cats and dogs that I took care of. I worked at the humane society for four years caring for and socializing pets there. I currently have two dogs (one with anxiety issues) and two cats. I have pet sat for friends and families, including puppies. I currently work remote so my schedule during the week is flexible. I am happy to spend time with pets and don’t mind long walks out in the cold. I can stay with your pet when needed and will care for them as specified. I can be flexible on timing and care needs for your pets.

To to turn your home and dogs over to GINIA was a real act of faith. Out of one – 10 rating, she earned a 25+ each day brought another video, more affirming statements. My husband and I were so very impressed with her professionalism. She surpassed our expectations. She is kind, capable, and very loving to our fur babies. GINIA is very bright, flexible, and on her own, made good decisions about solving the everyday issues that came up -on her own. My house is clean, safe, and more organized since she was here. My two standard Poodles are very happy. So glad and grateful I found her on rover.com PS she makes everything fun.,,,,,,,,

Right from the meet and great Stephanie was extremely attentive taking notes regarding our pups schedule, meal plan, and quirks. She was upfront and let us know things she had going on that she would need to step out for a little bit for during her stay and we were kept well informed throughout our time away with updates and some pictures. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!

FAQs for House Sitting - Northport

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Northport on Rover is $64.2 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 8,050 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Northport. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Northport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Northport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Northport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northport. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
