“Beth was very caring to Buddy and stayed in touch with me daily on how he was doing. She took good care of my house as well and communicated quickly. I’d book her services again :)”

“Ava is very responsible and conscientious. She sent lots of photos and checked in when she had questions, as well as responded to my questions. Max was well taken care of while we were away!”

“Jessica was great at communicating, responded very quickly and sent us lots of updates which we appreciated very much. We came home to happy tired dogs. Would definitely hire again!”

“Samantha took amazing care of my three dogs while we were away. My dog had a medical issue that needed attention and she took great care of him. He required daily cleaning of his infection and administering of both oral and topical medications. He isn’t always easy to take care of because he is sometimes fearful and anxious. She still made sure he was taken care of successfully. I really appreciate her going the extra mile to make sure my babies were given lots of love and attention. Thank you!”

About: I grew up around dogs and have had hands-on responsibility taking care of one for 2 years. Working at PETCO also made me extremely knowledgeable when it comes to caring for your pup. I’m a part-time college student with lots of free time on my hands, and looking to pick up caring for your pets in that free time! I promote leash-training and not pulling, and can work with whatever rules and training you’d like to apply when it comes to caring for your dog.
About: Neighbors and family have relied on me to care for their pets, including elderly and special needs animals, as well as exotic reptiles and birds, many times. I’m a part-time student in eco-toxicology at this time studying online so I’m around full time for pet care, feel free to reach out for care any day of the week! I live with my large family, and my roommates have two dogs and two cats, all of which are friendly. We have two spare crates for visitors so let me know if your dog is crate trained! Please keep in mind that my partner joins me for house sitting bookings. We have two cats together and he is also certified by Rover :)
“We are so grateful for the care Andrea gave to our dog, cat, and home. After two nights away, we returned to very happy animals and a very clean home. Andrea provided great photo updates, and she was very kind and responsible. We will absolutely call Andrea for pet sitting again!”

“We had an excellent experience with Jess, and could not recommend her more highly. She stayed overnight with our dog, in our home, and checked in frequently throughout the day, which gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. Communication was outstanding — she sent regular updates along with plenty of photos and videos, and was always responsive and thoughtful in her messages. Jess was incredibly respectful of our home, keeping everything clean, orderly, and exactly as we left it. Most importantly, it was clear that our dog was well cared for, happy, and comfortable the entire time. She is trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely attentive, and we felt completely confident leaving both our dog and our home in her care. We would absolutely use her again and recommend her without hesitation.”

“We had Kelly come dog sit in January for a week. She was amazing! Very comforting for us that my dog, Sophie, would be cared for in my home. Sophie is normally an anxious dog. While Kelly was with her, Sophie was completely fine. I really enjoyed the photos of Sophie that Kelly sent me during her stay. Kelly stayed overnight for Sophie, she was very respectful of my home and left it the way she found it. I would highly recommend Kelly for your pet needs!!!!”

“Maria became me and Zeppy's guardian angel. Zeppy suffered a medical emergency while I was in another country and Maria took her to the ER and did not leave her side until I was able to return in the evening the next day. Her updates were consistent, thorough (and with precious photos). She kept me updated during every step big or small and was just genuinely loving and compassionate, navigating everything at the vet. I am so grateful that Maria was Zeppy's sitter and would recommend her to anyone for watching their pet.”

About: I have been a vet receptionist for the past year and I have a furry friend that has been with me for 13 long healthy years. I’ve taken care of dogs for friends and family since I was 15 and overall I can say it has been a great experience. I work two part time jobs and I’m looking to fill in the gaps in between my schedule and also work some hours on the weekend. I’m offering walks and drop ins in between the mornings and evenings. I love communicating with owners on how to take care of their pets the more I know the better care and experience your pet will have. I like sending updates and cute pictures of them just a heads up! I do require a quick meet and greet to discuss any behaviors or preferences I should be on the lookout for. Also I like to ensure it’s a great match if you have any questions or need special accommodations don’t hesitate to ask I’m open to some requests depending on my availability. Hope to meet you soon!

Usually busy at night around 5-8ish otherwise free. I have a tall fenced in yard where I play with my dog or walk him around my neighborhood. Otherwise he sits with me while I study or read.
“I had such a wonderful experience!! I have two cats and a senior dog who requires a little extra care and attention, and I felt completely comfortable knowing they were in such good hands with Anna. She was reliable, attentive, and so sweet with all three of our pets. Anna sent me so many pics and she kept us updated while we were away, which gave us such peace of mind! I would absolutely recommend her and and will definitely use her again! ❤️🐾”

“Staci was absolutely wonderful! One of our dogs is in the middle of a long recovery from TPLO surgery, Staci was great with her and even slept downstairs on the couch since our dog can’t climb stairs right now. Lots of great pictures through our trip that made us feel so much more relaxed knowing everyone was doing good. Highly recommend Staci!!”

About: Hi, my name is Siouxsie and I am a twenty-seven year old Art teacher with a HUGE heart for the outdoors. Also a libra baby and one of the biggest animal lovers on the entire planet. From furry, to scaly, to feathery, you name it, I love them. I have had about a 3 years and a half of experience working with small to large dogs, that is including dog-walking to daycare and dog-sitting as well. I myself am a dog-owner, I have had my soul dog, for fifteen years up until we had to say our goodbyes and he departed to the rainbow bridge but still my love for dogs continues to grow immensely! I have a new friend at home, his name is Kylo! But, I hope you will allow me to spend some time with your four-legged friend or friends even. Thanks! :) I am currently off-season with my teaching job with plenty of morning/afternoon/evening time to dog-sit and drop-in on your lovely pet! Walks too! Don’t hesitate to reach out and ask if I am available :~) I will gladly respond in an efficient time manner and spend whatever time I have with your furry friend !! I live in an average-sized house with plenty of fenced-in yard space! I also have a furry friend of my own who is two years old and has the energy of a puppy, who would love to spend as much time as I would with your pet :~)

Ava is an absolute gem of a care taker for both my cat and my home. I recommend her wholeheartedly. She is trustworthy and sent me many photos, even when communication channels were limited as my husband and I were traveling internationally. She richly deserves all five stars in my rating.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Commack walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Commack maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Commack choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Commack. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
