“This was our first time using Rover and were so lucky to find Courtney to care for our cat. She was professional, communicative, thorough and went above and beyond her pet sitting duties. We highly recommend her.”
“Theresa was the perfect sitter for our Amber. She was extremely communicative, always prompt and went the extra mile especially during the 4th of July weekend where our dog doesn't enjoy the fireworks shows in the neighborhood. We could tell that she truly loves taking care of dogs and we would recommend her services to all family and friends.”

“Ava helped us out with a last minute drop in on Labor Day! She was prompt, polite, sent lots of photos, and made sure our dog was fully taken care of. She went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable.”

“Claudia was great with my pup. She is punctual, great with communication and an awesome dog sitter. My pup was very excited to have her stop by. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Kayla was wonderful for my little Diva. Every day I received a text message as well as a picture from Kayla, letting me know my little fur ball was safe and sound. Highly recommended, and I will be using Kayla in the future. A+++”

About: Hi! I’m a local dog lover in the Commack area with a lifelong connection to animals. I grew up with small dogs and currently care for two rescued dogs, a Standard Poodle and a Maltese, who are truly my furbabies. I also volunteer at a PetSmart cat adoption center, where I’ve been helping care for cats for over a year. I’m starting pet sitting because I genuinely enjoy calm, safe, and caring neighborhood walks during the day. I especially love helping dogs get their daily exercise, attention, and comfort while their owners are busy. My goal is to be a reliable and gentle presence your pet can feel safe with, just like a trusted neighbor. Pet care fits into my weekly routine during weekday mornings around lunchtime. I am available for 30 minute neighborhood dog walks or short drop-in visits to check on pets, provide care, and make sure they are comfortable and well taken care of while their owners are away during the day. I do not offer boarding in my home because I already have two dogs of my own, and I want to maintain a safe and calm environment for all pets. I only provide care in clients’ homes or nearby neighborhoods, focusing on small dogs under 40 lbs. For dog walking, I offer calm and safe 30-minute neighborhood walks with one dog at a time to ensure full attention and control (Up to two dogs per household). For drop-in visits, I follow all owner instructions, including feeding, fresh water, and letting dogs out into the backyard if needed. My priority is always safety, trust, and making sure each pet feels comfortable and secure in their familiar environment.
“Samantha is professional, polite, responsive and very easy to work with. She provides excellent care for all of our animals, especially our diabetic cat with a high thyroid that requires extra attention! We are very thankful to have Samantha help care for our animals when we need. If you are looking for a high quality pet sitter look no further!”

About: I have been an animal lover ever since I was a child! I have raised puppies, cared for senior cats and dogs, administered medicines, owned many small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils) and even raised a puppy for the Guide Dog Foundation. I love all animals and will feed any stray that comes to my door as well! I will care for and treat your pets as if they were my own. I work from home so I am available to take care of your babies while you are at work, out of the house or away on vacation I have a large fenced in yard, I love to go on walks and am responsible and respectful when in other peoples homes. I will care for your animals with as much love and care as you would. I will follow your pets routine and care for them as my own.

“I cannot thank Aurora enough for taking such great care of my two cats for 10 days while I was away on vacation. I knew Aurora was the perfect fit for my kitties from the moment she came over for a meet and greet. They were immediately drawn to her. I knew I didn’t have to worry about going away on vacation while Aurora was looking after them. She was in constant contact with me throughout her daily drop-in visits, sent me photos of my cats during every visit and ask me questions when she wasn’t sure about something. She left my house in the same condition as when I left for vacation. She is 100% reliable and I will definitely use her again. You should too.”

About: I have been caring for pets of various kinds for over 20 years. I have a spacious yard and house with room to play and snuggle and a child and 2 dogs who would love to give your pet attention. I’m currently on maternity leave for the next few months and home on the weekends so I am available and around to play all day and night. I have a fenced yard and 2 dogs of my own. A great neighbor with sidewalks for walking. I have an open concept spacious house but also have a separated finished basement space to use if needed/wanted.
“Taylor dropped-in on my 2-year-old (very anxious) cat for a week during a difficult time, and was AMAZING!!! She’s flexible, reliable, kind, easy to communicate with, and did a great job. I will 100% be booking with Taylor again next time I go out of town, and would recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable cat-sitter. Thank you, Taylor!!!”
“Rhiannon did a great job caring for my cat while I was out of town. She was very communicative and kept me up-to-date on how he was doing every day. I really appreciate her attention to detail and the thought she put into the daily Rover card.”

About: I’ve taken care of many pets since I was young and I have always loved doing it! I myself have one cat and one dog. I’m working part-time and in school, so I am doing this on the side as an extra source of income as a college student and a way to express my love and passion towards animals. My job is in its slow season for the next couple of months, so my schedule is very open besides classes. I can tend to any needs necessary for your pets. I am willing to go above and beyond to meet your animals needs and make sure they are comfortable when being in my care, and I will always let you know if they are not.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Commack
Chrissy was fantastic! She took great care of our cat, Bella for 5 days while we were away. Our cat can be very shy, but they quickly became friends and we are very happy we found Chrissy to look after her. Chrissy was a responsive communicator the entire time and we’d recommend her to anyone.

So thankful to have found Theresa!!!! I was so stressed to leave for a work trip and worried about my puppy being home by herself for most of the day, but Theresa eased all my anxieties. Our pup Dotty loved her from the moment she met her and we knew she was in great hands. She provided updates and pictures which I loved seeing while I’m away :) I would highly recommend - we will be repeat customers! :)

Vanessa is fabulous ! Comfortable with a larger dog , knowledgeable about breeds and dog care in general! She easily recognized all my dog's "language" and had him playing and earning a bell rub with in no time ! Vanessa let the dog out and fed him and all was tidied up when she left and my pup was exercised and content to go to sleep ! Our experience was terrific .

Had her watch my cat Georgie twice now for seven days, twice a day. I have no complaints and trust her completely at this point to watch my best buddy while I’m away. My cat according to her great pictures seems to be very friendly with her. If you have a pet that needs a sitter I encourage you to schedule a meet and greet. I imagine if I go away again I will be scheduling her again if she is available.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Commack stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

- 95% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
