Pet care experience

Your dog can be the only dog!

You and your pet will both feel like they’re on vacation as they have all of the comforts of home while you relax when you’re away. I have cared for dogs from the early stages of puppyhood and potty training through their later years where they just need a little extra help and lots of extra love. No matter their age, size or breed, I’m here to love your pet almost as much as you do 😉 In addition to a loving environment, I have most pet equipment including play pens, ramps, toys and treats so that your pet can have everything it needs for a comfortable stay. I also carry private insurance coverage so your pet can have the protection it deserves. I have coverage for boarders as well as for walks/drop ins. A copy of my policy can be provided upon request. ** DISCOUNTED RATES FOR DOGS WHO CAN STAY WITH DOGS FROM OTHER FAMILIES DURING NON HOLIDAY PERIODS. ** ** SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS ON FREE GROOMING **

We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter for Duke! From the moment we met Theresa and family, it was clear how caring, responsible, and attentive she is. Duke was so happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away, which gave us complete peace of mind. We especially appreciated the updates, photos, and the extra love and attention Theresa gave him. It’s obvious Theresa truly cares about the dogs she watches and Duke absolutely adored her. We are so grateful and would highly recommend Theresa to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and amazing to care for their pets!

Schedule

My husband and I grew up with dogs and have loved and cared for many over the years including our first doggy child, Molly. She has since crossed the rainbow bridge and although we’re not quite ready yet for a new dog, we’re happy to share our built up puppy love to provide a safe and loving environment while you’re away. At our home, all dogs become part of our family and I will reinforce any behaviors you maintain in your own home. But if your pet is used to couch cuddles they’ll get the same thing here! They’ll have all of the love and comforts of home that cannot be matched by any traditional boarding place, while receiving personal attention as they’re in space where they’ll be the only dog. It’s a change for your dog to go from one home to a new one. However, I find that having a home with no personal pets and either none, or a very limited amount other boarders if your pet enjoys company, helps to ease the transition and get them acclimated quickly.

Safety, trust & environment

After several years of boarding dogs while I worked from home, I have been able to leave my corporate job and now I get to care for pups full time. When I have a booking, I limit the time I spend outside of my home. Puppies will never be left home alone. Seniors can also be booked for constant care if needed for their health and safety. When the weather is nice, the family and I try to be out as much as possible and will always bring your dog along for the fun! I enjoy getting out for walks several times a day to stretch out my legs after extensive periods behind a desk. If your dog is up for it, then I’m happy to get to bring them on my walks! Even the best boarding facility cannot replicate the safety, cleanliness and care that can be provided in an animal loving home where there will always be a human around day and night to care for your dog and take action immediately should the need arise. I go the extra mile with safety by attaching an AirTag to the collar of every dog that stays here so they can always be tracked in the unlikely event that someone manages to escape. My radius for drop ins and walks is set so that all clients are less than 15 minutes from my house. This way, should you be delayed in any way, or notice something while you’re gone, I’m nearby and can easily continue my visits until you return home.

A typical day

Depending on your dog’s exercise preference, I have the option for running around in the yard, walks through the neighborhood or stopping by the nearby dog park if they enjoy the company of other pups. I enjoy hiking and the more adventurous ones can join me on the trail. When the weather is nice, we love getting together with friends and family and will happily bring your pet with us if they’re comfortable with car rides. Except in extreme weather, I will typically take your dog for a walk at least 2 times a day unless a health or behavioral issue prevents that. The walks are in addition to supervised access to the yard for potty breaks throughout the day as needed. Day care bookings are for a maximum of 8 hours of care. Drop off and pick up times are extremely flexible. If the booking is for a drop in, I’ll refill food and water as needed, provide any necessary medications and then fill the rest of the time with play and cuddles. If the booking is for a walk, your dog and I will walk your neighborhood. Sniffing is excellent mental stimulation and some enjoy sniffing more than walking. I will follow your dog’s lead unless you have a requested preference for how the time is spent. I am prepared to walk in rain, snow and cold/hot weather based on your dog’s comfort level. **FREE GROOMING** All stays of ten or more nights will receive a free grooming. All clients who receive reoccurring walks Monday-Friday or day care at least 3 days per week will get a free grooming every other month!

Let me know of any special quirks your dog might have so I can support them in a way that best suits theirs needs. A meet and greet is required before sitting for new clients. This is to ensure that your dog is comfortable and friendly with all members of the household and also so you can see where your dog is staying! This is especially helpful if it’s your dog’s first time away from home so they can gain a bit of familiarity and you can be comforted seeing exactly where your dog will eat, sleep and play. While I am always home during the work day and block off any booking dates where I know I’ll be out of the house for more than a few hours, it’s inevitable that I will have to leave for errands, after school activities, etc. but this would not exceed 3-4 hours. With all bookings, I adjust my schedule to ensure that I’m home as much as possible. Your dog will have complete free range of the house during the day and at night. As stated before, their safety is the most important thing to me and there’s always the potential for a dog to engage in behaviors they would never have done at home while staying somewhere new. Please be honest about whether or not your dog is able to left alone unsupervised.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
