“My dog, Blue, came back from his long weekend with Giovanna in a happy little mood. I can tell he really enjoyed his visit, and that means so much! Giovanna sent photos while we were away, which was reassuring. She certainly kept Blue busy with snowy walks. He's a dog who likes to be active. I could not be happier with this first booking.”

“Chris was great! Easy to book, communication was clear and he sent me plenty of pics during our pup’s weekend stay with him. Their dog Luna is a sweetheart. Our dog got plenty of walks and attention while she was there. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks!”

“From the moment we met Anna, we knew she was a good fit! She made booking the meet and greet, drop off and pick up super easy. Scout liked Anna’s sweet disposition and I liked that she kept us updated! Scout came home happy and healthy. We would highly recommend Anna to anyone in need of a pet sitter!”

“I had an excellent experience with Judy. From the beginning, she was communicative, and clearly cared deeply for my pup. Judy kept me updated with messages and photos while I was away which gave me so much peace of mind. Max was happy, relaxed, and very well cared for when we returned. I also appreciate how flexible Judy was with pick up time. I would absolutely recommend Judy to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. I will definitely be using Judy again!”

“Daniel was great. We reached out last minute and he was very accommodating. He responds very quickly and shared plenty of pictures of miso. Miso was exhausted after his 2 day sleepover. We highly recommend and will definitely use Daniel again.”

“Elvia is the best! Our dachshund loves her and so do we. Super reliable and takes such good care of our pup. We’ve used Elvia for both daytime and overnights and would highly recommend!”

“Richard is kind and easy going. I felt my dog was in really good hands. He communicated with us during our dog’s stay and sent pics and that put us at ease.”
“Jordan is pleasant and responsive. Latke was returned happy and healthy. He let me know that he had another booking that would overlap mine, which turned out OK but would have been an issue if the dogs didn’t get along. His apartment is small and it would have been difficult to keep the dogs separated. Also I would have appreciated more photos, especially on the first day with the other dog. He responded promptly with pictures when prompted. Overall, I would recommend him.”

“They were great! Lincoln met with them a few days before the stay and was immediately comfortable. There house was very clean and the enclosed backyard was very spacious leaving a lot of room for the dogs to play and secure enough to prevent them from getting out. They sent video and pictures everyday. I would definitely leave my dog with them again in the future.”

“Rebecca was wonderful with my energetic 8 month old pitbull. She constantly sent me updates and photos throughout his stay. I felt completely at ease knowing my puppy was being well cared for. I will definitely request her services again soon and I know my puppy will be happy to see her again!”

“My dog Nicolo has stayed with Karine and Ryan for a few short stays which always went well. Recently, he stayed for a week and it was such a great experience for him and for me. Nicolo socialized with the other small dogs. Karine and Ryan are such gentle people with great knowledge about dogs. He got his meds, lots of attention and affection. In addition to being kept safe and having his physical needs met, I feel he really benefits mentally from staying there and I am relaxed and not consumed with worry. Karine always kept me updated with texts and pictures and let me know of any issues. I hope to always leave Nicolo with Karine and Ryan when the need arises.”

“Yessenia was absolutely lovely to work with. She answered any questions we had as first time Rover customers in order to put us at ease. We could see from the first interaction that she would be kind to our dog, as she immediately got down and gave her hand to the dog to sniff and then pet her. She has a daughter with a sweet and gentle personality, who kindly shared her own blanket with the dog to make the dog feel more comfortable. Yessenia‘s husband was friendly and pleasant as well. Yessenia sent us multiple pictures and updates over the weekend while she watched the dog. Though we brought some supplies, she was also prepared with her own if necessary. Furthermore, since Yesenia had already experienced life with a senior dog, she offered us some suggestions that might help with our pup. Our Rusty had never been cared for by a stranger up to this point. It was hard for us to leave her. That said, we would not only highly recommend Yessenia and her family to other dog owners, we will definitely reach out to Yessenia again if we need someone to board the dog. She even included a lovely note about the experience. Her thoughts were genuine, and it was nice for us to be reminded about the beauty of our dog whom we see every day.”

Caroline was amazing with our pup! Not only was she able to fit us in last minute when we were in a pinch, but she made my pup feel so at home in her home while we were out of town. Not having to worry about your pup while you’re out of town because you know they are being cared for and loved by someone makes it so much easier to go away.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
