“Alejandro was great with our 5 month old puppy Shrek. He sent us lots of videos of Shrek on walks, and socializing with other dogs. It was our first time leaving Shrek and and the videos and frequent communication with Alejandro was very comforting. Bizcocho was a great playmate too. Since Shrek is a puppy and still learning it is important to us that he be around friendly dogs like him. The next time we need to leave Shrek with someone Alejandro and Bizcocho are our first choice. Thanks Alejandro!”

“So glad I found Sharon to watch my Husky for 7 nights. We did a meet and greet a couple of weeks before and my dog was very happy running in the yard and playing with Sharon’s dog! I felt very confident that my dog Lightning would get love and attention. I received updates while I was away, along with pics of lightning smiling and looking happy. I would definitely recommend Sharon to care for your fur baby, I know I will again!!”
“Delmy and her daughter were great! They sent photos and videos constantly. Her house was clean and she even let me come and meet her before I even booked. It was very comforting knowing she wanted me to feel comfortable leaving my Remi with her. Thank you so much!”

“Laura and Josh took great care of our puppy! They sent lots of pictures and updates and gave her tons of attention and walks. Ava seemed really sweet and the two dogs got along well. Highly recommend!”

“John treats my dog like his own. John really seems to enjoy the time he has with Deuce. The funny thing was, Deuce hardly wanted to go home with me when I picked him up. Deuce wanted to continue to play. I don't have to worry at all when I leave Deuce with John.”

“Anna is a great sitter! I ran into an issue with getting home from vacation and she was able to take care of Molly for an extra day. Her flexibility was so helpful! I would absolutely hire her again to watch my schnauzer.”

“Andrea is fantastic! Wally is so excited to see her when we drop him off and her backyard setup is incredible. Wally comes home happy and exhausted after every visit. Highly recommend!”

“Karine, Ryan and Misu are the best! If you want your dog to be treated like family while you are away and not worry at all, they are the ones to call. I am an overprotective dog mom and my little guy is super attached to us, but miraculously he warmed up to Karine right away. He ate well, played, went out for lots of walks, got along great with Misu and was so well-adjusted while we were out of the country. I could not have asked for a better experience and give Karine my highest recommendations. She also sent me a lot of wonderful photos, so I always knew what activities Chewie was up to each day. 5 stars!!!”

“Christopher took amazing care of our 1 year old husky Nala. Chris sent us many pictures, videos and daily updates the entire time we were away which really helped ease my mind. He was very understanding and accommodating when we had to extend our trip 4 days due to Covid. Nala was happy and well taken care of when we returned from our trip. We will definitely be using Christopher's services again.”

“Richard was amazing with Mika! He kept us informed throughout the stay and sent a ton of photos. Mika was super happy to spend time at his lovely home!”

“So responsive to our texts and communication was great. She treated Ranger like a part of the family and send us lots of photos. Ranger got along with her dog and cat and we plan to have Ranger stay here again in the future”

“Couldn't be more thrilled ...our 1 year old Shih Tzu who is still learning and is an overactive puppy can be a bit much to watch all day; so we were very concerned about leaving her with strangers overnight. However Theresa was fantastic not only did she allow us to bring all Peanut's stuff (pack and play crib/playpen and tons of toys, pillow, blanket, doggy dishes etc.) but she understood the fact that because this was all new to our young dog she especially took pains to know what Peanut's needs were. At first Peanut did not even want to enter the home and shied away from Theresa but Theresa took the time to win over Peanut and by the time we left her she was playing with her toys. Theresa sent us pictures of Peanut playing and having fun. We were especially happy knowing Theresa only takes one dog at a time in her home because our dog is small and young and doesn't know how to socialize with other pets (our vet wouldn't allow this until all her shots were completed) and Peanut is from a home with only adults and no small children we worried that other sitters who take in more than one dog or had their own pet might become a problem. However Theresa's policy of only one dog at a time who also doesn't have her own pet, and doesn't have numerous children which might be a concern for pets unused to active kids. Theresa's dog sitting arrangement was an ideal win win for us and Peanut. She will become our dogs sitter from now on as Peanut loved her and her family and now we can relax whenever we need to go out of town or just need a sitter for a day. Thank you Theresa and family you were the best!”

“This is the first time I used Veronique to care for my 3y/o Golden Retriever Pebbles for 10 days. The family was amazing with Pebbles. She got along amazingly well with the family. Their beautiful children are so sweet and played with her like they had her since she was a puppy. I received pictures of Pebbles everyday and they even gave her a spa bath because she was digging and rolled in the mud when it was raining. They are awesome. I would definitely use them again to take care of Pebbles.”

“Yessenia was absolutely lovely to work with. She answered any questions we had as first time Rover customers in order to put us at ease. We could see from the first interaction that she would be kind to our dog, as she immediately got down and gave her hand to the dog to sniff and then pet her. She has a daughter with a sweet and gentle personality, who kindly shared her own blanket with the dog to make the dog feel more comfortable. Yessenia‘s husband was friendly and pleasant as well. Yessenia sent us multiple pictures and updates over the weekend while she watched the dog. Though we brought some supplies, she was also prepared with her own if necessary. Furthermore, since Yesenia had already experienced life with a senior dog, she offered us some suggestions that might help with our pup. Our Rusty had never been cared for by a stranger up to this point. It was hard for us to leave her. That said, we would not only highly recommend Yessenia and her family to other dog owners, we will definitely reach out to Yessenia again if we need someone to board the dog. She even included a lovely note about the experience. Her thoughts were genuine, and it was nice for us to be reminded about the beauty of our dog whom we see every day.”

“Bens favorite place to go!!! He has the best time here and Melissa and her husband take the best care of my boy!!! I never have to worry if he's OK because they always check in and I get lots of pictures of my happy boy!! if you need a sitter that you can trust and that will take care of your pets like they are their own This is the place for you!”

“Kylo had another great stay with Anner! He took extra care after a few updates for Kylo, and I so appreciate having someone nearby who is familiar with my pup. Thanks, Anner!”

Sara is a wonderful dog sitter, and I feel so lucky to have her taking care of Cosmo. She's incredibly thoughtful, caring, and attentive with him, and her whole family is amazing. Cosmo always has the best time with them! Sara is also extremely reliable and flexible, making everything so easy and stress-free for me. I couldn't recommend her more highly

Above and beyond! Our boys have alot of differing special needs. Annabelle understood all of our needs and gave us every confidence our boys were going to be safe and loved. We loved the photo updates. They came home tired and not over fed. We will definitely book again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
