“Chris was great! Easy to book, communication was clear and he sent me plenty of pics during our pup’s weekend stay with him. Their dog Luna is a sweetheart. Our dog got plenty of walks and attention while she was there. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thanks!”

“We just left our puppy with Sharon for the 2nd time and we will certainly be back again. She gives great care, kept us updated everyday with pictures and was always very nice to work with. I highly recommend Sharon!”
“"The angelic dog whisperer." Angela is just one of a kind. She reads dogs easier than some people read their own minds. My Chase loved her so much that he regretted coming home to what I thought was a good home. Pamela's place and care is well beyond good. It's doggie nirvana. I'm looking forward to creating a short trip so I can send him back and see his anticipation when I roll up to her house.”

“We chose Jennifer as sitter first time we used Rover and she was fantastic. She kept us updated every day with texts and photos. Rover app was extremely easy to use as well. Thank you Jennifer!”

“Our 5 month old puppy was in great hands with Vanessa and her family. They were reliable, trustworthy, sent us lots of updates including pics and videos. Most importantly he had a great time. 10/10 would recommend.”

“I was very nervous about leaving my dog with a boarder. I had only left her with relatives. Judy was very helpful. We did a meet and greet beforehand and she took care of my dog. Would definitely use again.”

“Nicole was amazing!! She took such amazing care of our Brody. She sent daily updates and followed through with every care request we had, down to brushing him and administering eye ointment. She’s is obviously very experienced as our anxious guy had some diarrhea during his stay and she handled it perfectly. She is warm and loving. We will definitely be asking Nicole to watch him again.”

“Isabella was absolutely wonderful and kept my mind at ease while I was on vacation by sending pictures and videos of Piper having a blast! I was nervous about leaving my baby girl but when I met Isabella I knew she was perfect to watch her and she instantly had me trusting her and I was right. I highly recommend her and have already rebooked her for another upcoming trip.”

“Kayla and family were wonderful, provided so much play and attention all day and we're very polite and sweet (her children included). My pup is too young for daycare and she put my mind at ease while I was at work.”

“Tammy was a great sitter for our Lennon. She and her family took great care of him. We received daily updates with photos. Lennon had a great time while in her care. We will definitely use Tammy again when we need a sitter.”

“Kristen was a great sitter! She’s very responsive and easy to work with. She and her husband took great care of our puppy. She sent great updates and videos. We’d be happy to have Maggie stay with her again!”

“We have used June several times now. Our dog, Ginger, is getting on in age, so it is important to us to have someone like June who takes extra care with her. She is wonderful with Ginger and we are glad we found her!”

“Our cat Journey had a delightful time at Joanne’s for a long weekend. We were impressed with the clear communication, lovely home environment, and delightful family that took such great care of him. We highly recommend Joanne and will not hesitate to use her again when were visiting family in the area.”

“This was the first time we had to leave our dog Whaler for a few nights and needless to say I was nervous to do so. Immediately after dropping Whaler off with Trinity she made our fur baby feel right at home! She was so kind, caring, attentive and flexible with any and all needs we had. Whaler had the best stay with Trinity we could have ever hoped for. She updated me daily as I needed which helped me enjoy my vacation while knowing our dog was in the best hands. We will definitely use Trinity again in the future and recommend anyone in need to trust her for all your pet care needs.”

“Kate was outstanding from start to finish. She made us feel comfortable with leaving our dog with her and went above and beyond to take care of him. She had her own space separate from other animals she has and stayed there with our dog the entire time. Kate sent us daily updates and made sure he was safe and well taken care of. We were so relieved to find a genuinely nice, caring person that we would book again. Thanks, Kate!”

I understand first hand the care and love your pup needs and deserves. Will provide updates and photos to keep you at ease while you’re away! I work from home on Mondays and Fridays, and am in the office Tuesday through Thursday. I’ll have the most availability on the remote days but can be available in the evenings on the others. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
