“Samantha was amazing with my puppy Henry! She as patient and kind and kept in contact with me to update me on his status during her drop in visit! I know he’s in good hands with her during his weekly visits”

About: I bring years of hands-on experience in pet care, including time as a veterinary assistant and my ongoing work with the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter as both a rescuer and foster. I’ve cared for pets of all kinds — from dogs and cats to birds and exotics — and I’m comfortable with animals who need extra patience, whether it’s shy rescues, energetic puppies, or seniors needing gentle support. What sets me apart is my ability to combine professional training with compassionate care. I’m skilled at reading animal behavior, keeping pets safe, and making them feel at ease in new situations. Whether your pet needs medication, structured playtime, or just some extra cuddles, I treat every animal as if they were my own. Pet care is a natural part of my daily life — I’ve built my schedule around it. Between my own pets, fostering, and volunteering with the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, I’m used to giving animals consistent attention, exercise, and enrichment every day. Whether it’s early morning walks, midday drop-ins, or evening feedings and cuddle time, I’m flexible and happy to adjust to your pet’s routine so they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. In your home, I follow your routines closely — from feeding schedules to favorite walking routes — so your pet feels secure and stress-free. I take the time to learn their cues and make sure they always have fresh water, exercise, and plenty of love. If caring for pets in my home, I create a safe, supervised environment where they get attention, enrichment, and space to relax. Because of my background as a vet assistant, foster, and rescue worker, I’m experienced in monitoring health, administering medications, and keeping pets calm in new situations. Above all, I value trust — I treat your pets and your home with the same respect and care I’d want for my own.

“Amanda is a total lifesaver! She met my puppy Daisy on a Sunday night to be sure Daisy felt safe with her coming by. This was my first time ever having anyone other than my family care for my puppy, and I had been worried about how to find the right person to help as I’m working full time at a summer camp. Amanda fits Daisy’s needs perfectly as she herself is a loving dog owner who understands exactly how to handle and treat our puppy. Amanda has quickly bonded with Daisy, giving her lots of attention and belly rubs in addition to her basic feeding routine. Anyone would be super lucky to have Amanda caring for their dog. Amanda also goes above and beyond by doing things like being very considerate in bringing our package deliveries in if she sees it’s a hot day out. That’s something we didn’t even request thought she’s so super thoughtful, it is much appreciated:)!”

About: I've had dogs for my entire life since I was a child. Bred Australian shepherds, so comfortable with puppies. My aussie had 11 pups. Such a wonderful time, bottle feeding. Have gone to many dog training classes. The dogs are part of the family while here. Not caged unless you want them crated when I'm not home. When they are outside I stay with them entire time, not left in back yard without me there to supervise. Simply adore dogs and all their own personalities. I take the time to spend individual and special time with the dog everyday while staying with me. Have my own dog, An Australian shepherd named Jilli, she simply loves having dog friends over so she can play and sharing her dog toys. Her favorite thing is playing catch in the backyard with a dog friend.
“Kaylee not only took care of our dog while we were away but cleaned up after him. He is an older dog and has accidents now. Kaylee is very kind and has left us with a such a good feeling that Jaxson is being treated well while we are traveling !”

“Heeyoung takes great care of our dog while we are away. We appreciate the timely updates and pictures. She is responsible and trustworthy. We highly recommend her and will definitely book again”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs for my entire life. I have my own dog whom I have trained and take care of. I have worked for Camp Bow Wow where I took care of dogs of all sizes. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. I structure my day to include regular walks, feeding times, play sessions, and check-ins to ensure every pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for. Whether it's early morning walks or evening cuddles, I make sure their needs come first. In my client’s home, I follow their pet’s routine closely—feeding, walking, playtime, and any special instructions like medications or training cues. I keep their space clean and safe, and I always give updates with photos and messages for peace of mind. If I’m caring for pets in my own home, I provide a secure, pet-friendly environment with plenty of attention, exercise, and comfort.
“Lisa did an amazing job looking after our precious kitty. My cat Sophie is a shy one but she made fast friends with Lisa right away. Lisa went above and beyond to make sure Sophie had everything she needs to be happy and comfortable. She sent me lots of updates and pictures which I appreciated very much. Communication was great. Already booked Lisa again!”

“Samantha was great! She took the time to meet with us before her visits to make sure everything was in order and sent great updates and pictures each day. She was flexible and even able to add on an extra day when our plans changed. Would definitely use her again in the future.”

About: Hi! My name is Natasha. Total animal lover here—I have had several years of experience caring for my own pets as well as other people’s pets. In the past, I have had both a cat and dog of my own. Thank you for considering me because not only does helping you out make me happy but it also helps my mental health to hang out with your cutie pets! I am very frequently available! I would definitely be open to helping out on a regular or on a week-by-week basis. Thank you for your consideration! I care for pets with all the love and compassion I have. I am looking to go into other people’s homes as I’m unable to have pets come to mine at this time. Thanks so much!
“Mary was wonderful. I would recommend her to anyone looking for the perfect pet sitter. Upon meeting her, I knew immediately that my dogs would be well taken care of, and the pictures she sent me while I was away assured me that my dogs were very happy while in her care.”
About: As an owner of a hound mix, I will make sure that your fur baby's happiness is a top priority because I would want the same thing for her. Because I'm semi-retired, I would have plenty of time to walk and play with your pup. I'm available most mid-mornings to late afternoons on weekdays with possible availability on Saturdays. I can walk, feed, and play with your pup at your residence if needed. I have worked with a trainer in order to walk on a lead with my dog and would apply those lessons yours. I can also crate your dog if needed.
About: I’ve always had a dog since I was little and I love dogs. Neighbors and family rely on me at times to watch and walk their dogs. I am a teacher and I have the summers off. I used to have dogs but now it’s just me and my almost 4 year old son. My son goes to daycare and I would love nothing more than to care for your pet. I have a fenced in yard and I love to go for walks. I have the whole day to entertain and keep your pet happy.

Stephanie once again cared for my four cats -- this time for 10 days. She is so great to work with. Responsive and responsible. She sent pictures daily, spent time giving my curmudgeonly kitties love and play time, and ultimately allowed me to enjoy my vacation without a single worry. She is just a wonderful.
Abigail was awesome with our two pups! She went above and beyond our expectations and would absolutely use her again when we need a dog sitter/walker. She was flexible and easy to communicate with and took such great care of our dogs. She updated us daily about them and sent us pictures. Thanks so much again! The pups already miss her!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
