Rachel has been wonderful with our dog, Hazel. She’s been taking Hazel on long weekday walks and has truly gone above and beyond. Hazel used to pull and get easily distracted on walks, which made them challenging, and Rachel immediately offered to work with her on loose-leash walking. In just a short time, Hazel has improved so much and is now walking calmly, paying attention, and doing great on leash. Rachel is incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. She sends thoughtful updates and the cutest photos, and Hazel absolutely loves her and gets so excited when she arrives. We’re so grateful to have found Rachel and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog walker.

About: I have a Husky-Malamute mix at home, and they're known for being one of the most high energy dogs. I can take care of your dog for sure. I am a college-freshman at NYU who’s looking to make some extra money whilst I’m on break back home, and what better way to make money than to take care of your dog! I am timely, and will make sure I give full attention to your pet. I’ll pick up after them, clean them if needed, and feed them all in a punctual manner. I’ll take this job very very seriously if you pick me! I'm back home for the summer, book any type of services available! I am always looking for ways to take care of pets, so anything works. Caring for my Husky-Malamute, I make sure to give him as much attention and play as possible. I love taking long walks (as long as your dog wants), and taking time to stroll around. I know how to avoid aggressive dogs, and also train aggression, as my dog also used to be aggressive. I will feed them on time, let them out to relieve themselves as much as possible, and be attentive to their needs!

About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs my whole life, growing up with Bernese Mountain Dogs, and now with two rescues! I've worked in an animal shelter with dogs of many sizes, breeds, and temperaments, so I'm skilled at socializing, walking, and playing with dogs with all kinds of personalities. I've also cared for a reactive dog of my own, which has taught me even more about canine body language and how to respond safely. With experience ranging from puppies to seniors, including medical and special needs care, I give every dog the patience, and love they deserve, as if they were my own! I currently have a hybrid position, and hoping to care for animals with my extra time! Due to remote work, my schedule is quite flexible and I'm available for boarding or check ins most days. When I’m caring for pets in your home, my goal is to make things feel as normal and comfortable for them as possible. I stick to your usual routines so they feel safe and loved while you’re away. I’m attentive to their moods and body language, and I’m happy to provide updates and photos so you can relax knowing they’re happy and cared for. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I’d want for my own, leaving it just as you left it. Happy to align with your needs!

About: I grew up with pets of all kinds, I have been a veterinary assistant for 3 years and have been pack-hiking with dogs full time for about 8 months now. I should be regularly available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons and evenings, and the occasional weekend. Those mornings and the other days, I work full time with dogs, either pack-hiking or doggy daycare. I do not do sitting, I only do walking as I have pets at home that are my responsibility and I live with other people.

About: I have been around many animals since I was a little kid. I frequently help take care of my neighbors and friend’s pets as well! I currently do not have a structured schedule going on, so I am pretty available! Though, I would prefer not being out past 7pm unless it is an overnight. This could be negotiated if necessary! Due to having 2 dogs myself I cannot offer my house up for daycare. Though, I am comfortable crating dogs in their homes and watching them in their own backyards!

Jeremy is such a reliable and caring person. We left our Claya, our 14-year-old first baby, in his care for eight days—the longest time we’ve ever been apart. Jeremy kept us updated every step of the way, always going above and beyond, even coming in rainy and stormy weather. Thank you so much for all that you do, Jeremy. About: Hi there! As a lifelong dog person, I have a lot of experience - I have cared for dogs weighing 8 to over 100lbs, and from 6 week old puppies to seniors. I am experienced in dogs with complex situations such as reactivity, fearfulness & timidness, and significant physical impairments. Currently, I own two rescue dogs - a 3 year old female German shepherd/malinois mix, and a 2 year old male Aussie who was born deaf & blind. So when I say the “hard to handle” pups are my speciality, I mean it! I would be happy to take your dog on a walk or local hike, to play outside with them, to work/train (my GSD/malinois girl requires regular scent work, agility, and intense variations on fetch to stay sane), or to simply give them affection. I don’t at all mind working with dogs that take time to win over, or that need extra TLC. All dogs are good dogs, and I can promise you that to me, they are all precious cargo - and will be handled as such in my care. I am a music teacher, and primarily work afternoons & evenings - so earlier in the day I have free time. I am also the mother of a young child, so am unavailable on weekends when he is home from school. I will adhere to strictly to instructions given (ie, your dog is crated or not, food allergies or sensitives to avoid, fears they have or the best ways to make them feel safe) and make sure above all else, they know I am someone they can look forward to seeing.

  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
