Hope has been fantastic with my easily excitable pup! I was a bit worried because my pup has a tendency to pull on the leash and jump up on others when excited. Hope does a wonderful job of redirecting his behavior while on walks. My pup returns happy after each walk!

Jeremy is such a reliable and caring person. We left our Claya, our 14-year-old first baby, in his care for eight days—the longest time we’ve ever been apart. Jeremy kept us updated every step of the way, always going above and beyond, even coming in rainy and stormy weather. Thank you so much for all that you do, Jeremy. Best of luck to you, and thank you again!

Rachel has been wonderful with our dog, Hazel. She’s been taking Hazel on long weekday walks and has truly gone above and beyond. Hazel used to pull and get easily distracted on walks, which made them challenging, and Rachel immediately offered to work with her on loose-leash walking. In just a short time, Hazel has improved so much and is now walking calmly, paying attention, and doing great on leash. Rachel is incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. She sends thoughtful updates and the cutest photos, and Hazel absolutely loves her and gets so excited when she arrives. We’re so grateful to have found Rachel and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog walker.

About: I had a corgi until I was 12 years old who I fed, walked, and played with for much of my childhood. I also have frequently walked my neighbors’ dogs and gone over to feed/watch them when they aren’t at home, including when my neighbor’s golden retriever was still a puppy, although I am also capable of handling big dogs too. I have always loved animals and, especially as an introvert, getting to hang out with them all summer is something I am more than happy to do! I am currently back home for the summer until around mid August, and this is the only form of work I’ll be doing while I’m here. Any activity I want to do is something that can be done at more or less any time, meaning my schedule will be very flexible and able to cater to what you need. I make sure to give the animal as much space as needed before jumping straight in. Some pets are more reserved and it can be tough for them to get used to a new person in their space, so I like to make sure I meet them where they’re at. I ask the owner any questions I have both in advance and also while they’re gone if something comes up. I like to be prepared and know where everything is and how to deal with any situation that might occur, so open communication is something I really strive for.

About: I love both cats and dogs equally. I am very adaptable, active, and consistent. I would love to provide my services for your pets this summer. I will be working part time this summer from June 18-July 30 as I prepare to move states for law school. During this timeframe, I’d like to make some extra money for school and stay healthy by getting my steps in. My rates are negotiable! I have had a dog since I was 11, and have lived with a cat the past two years. I am cognizant of feeding and potty schedules, pet energy levels, animal care, etc.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cottage Lake. On Rover:

  • 92% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
