We had a great experience with Wilson and Jan! They took wonderful care of Luna and Binx and kept us updated throughout our trip with pictures and videos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. They even made homemade liver treats for Luna, which she absolutely loved. We would happily recommend them to friends and would definitely book with them again in the future.

Elizabeth came into my own and gave me such piece of mind . She was so kind and thoughtful for our little ones . Went out of her way to take videos and send photos daily. She even ordered our dog a little dog a new bed as a gift when hers was being used. I would trust her like family in my home and would of course use her again for our dogs . Rover should have more stars for her ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏

Eric is amazing! This was my first time leaving my cat Marcus with anyone other than my sister. And I was so scared, but Eric made me feel comfortable with his ability to care for my little fur baby and I'm so pleased with how he cared for Marcus while I was away. I definitely recommend him to anyone and will be requesting his services again in the future!

Umi was so amazing with taking care of all of our pets (4 of them!). They’re all very nervous around new people and have separation anxiety but somehow they were all at ease with her and even sat with/ cuddled her! I would highly recommend Umi to pet parents who wants a sitter than actually cares.

She was incredibly dependable and sent me frequent updates and pictures, which really helped me feel comfortable while I was away. Sinead was an absolute gem for our first time using Rover! We were away for 11 days, which felt like a long stretch to leave our cats, but she made the whole trip so much easier for us. She went above and beyond, taking care of little things we hadn't even thought to ask about. Our boys, Mochi and Ooyu, can be a handful .. they had a few mischievous moments (broken glass, general chaos included) - but Sinead was endlessly patient and kind with them. By the time we got home, they seemed so content and relaxed. She also sent frequent updates throughout our trip, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We're incredibly grateful to have found her and would recommend her to anyone ❤️

About: Currently working part-time as a professional Dog Walker, my life is dedicated to the safety and overall health and happiness of the dogs. Having rescued reptiles, mammals and amphibians as a teenager and taking care of our family pets over a span of 16 years, animal care has truly become a passion of mine. I can’t imagine a world without animals and I firmly believe they deserve our care and respect. With experience at both the Guelph and Brampton Humane Societies and having successfully trained both our family cat and dog, I know that your pets will be loved and well-cared for in my hands. Raising pets is as important to me as raising children. I would love the opportunity to bring the best out of your beloved pets! Whether a dog, cat, lizard or fish, I am happy to provide a service and comfortable experience for your pet(s). I am currently work at a boutique usually midday but I’m happy to make time for your pets on my days off or before/after work. I’m attentive with my furry clients and make sure their particular needs are met by asking their humans the right background questions. Ensuring water/food bowls are cleaned daily and notifying my client’s human if I notice anything out of the ordinary. Communication is non-negotiable. I understand that your pet is your baby and safety is always first! Leads, collars and harnesses are always triple checked before we leave the house.

About: What sets me apart is the range of animals I've cared for, not just dogs. I grew up in a house with three dogs, three cats, a turtle, and fish, and later volunteered on a farm in Alberta looking after horses, goats, rabbits, and birds. That mix taught me to read body language and adjust to what each animal actually needs, rather than following one routine for every dog. Friends already trust me with their dogs whenever they travel, and I bring the same patience and attentiveness to every dog I look after, whether that means an energetic puppy or a calmer senior dog who just wants company. I work fully from home, so pets are never left alone during the day. I'm at the dog park every morning and evening as part of my own daily routine, so any dog staying with me joins the walks I'd already be taking, and I can add a shorter walk at lunchtime if needed. Right now I'm completely free before noon and after 6pm, so those hours are wide open for longer walks or extra playtime. While I'm working, pets stay right next to me on their own mat or blanket on the couch, always close by, never shut away in another room. Safety comes first in every home I'm in, whether it's mine or a client's. I keep the environment calm and predictable, follow the pet's existing routine closely rather than imposing my own, and stay alert to anything unusual in behavior, eating, or energy. With cats that means keeping their space clean, controlling access to anything that could stress or harm them, and never leaving grooming or medication routines to chance. With dogs, it means secure leashing, checking yards or spaces for hazards before letting them roam, and never leaving an animal unsupervised in an unfamiliar environment. I also keep owners updated with photos or messages during visits, so they always know their pet is safe and comfortable.

Erin is the best! I have had to travel for business and vacation, and each time I do so without any worry about our two kitties. Erin provides live in service which includes both video and pictures daily, giving me that reassurance that Luna and Bonnie are well cared for, played with frequently and very comfortable with Erin. As an added bonus, the house looks exactly the way it did when I left, allowing me to return and relax! Great communication, and care. Thank you Erin!

We were SO happy with the care Maria provided for our two dogs! She carefully followed all my directions for their care, sent pictures and updates while we were away, and engaged in some excellent problem-solving with one of our dogs who can be a bit tougher to watch and manage. I feel confident and relaxed knowing I can book her again and she’ll take such good care of my puppers!

This was our second time booking Sami and Nguyen, and they were fantastic again. The first stay was about a year ago for a few nights and it went so well that they were the first people we thought of when we needed a sitter for a full week away. They did a meet and greet beforehand so Pokey was comfortable before the stay even started, and they were flexible about working around our early morning flight. Throughout the week they kept us updated with photos and messages, which meant a lot while we were travelling. Pokey clearly had a great time and came home happy and well looked after, and they followed his routine exactly as we'd laid it out. Two bookings in and they've been excellent both times. We'll keep coming back, and we'd recommend them to anyone looking for sitters who genuinely care about the dogs in their home.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Toronto on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 3,962 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Toronto. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Toronto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Toronto walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toronto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
