“We really appreciated Danielle looking after Bear and Leon last week:) She very kindly came to meet us before the booking and was easy to communicate with and sent updates throughout her time with our pets! We would definitely reach out to her again! Thanks so much😊”

“Carrie took really good care of our 6 month old kitten for us. Carrie is communicative and got along with our kitten right away. Carrie genuinely loves animals. It was so nice to know that our kitten was with someone like Carrie while we were away. When we came home from our trip our kitten seemed very well taken care of and attended to. The apartment is very clean and tidy. Thanks so much Carrie!”

“Elizabeth stayed in our home for 5 days to take care of our dog, and she was great. Our dog usually doesn’t feel comfortable with strangers and needs time to trust new people, but Elizabeth was very patient and calm with her. She took the time to build a connection, and it really helped our dog feel safe around her. She also took very good care of our dog during the whole time. We really appreciate her help and would definitely recommend her.”

“Weini gave me lots of updates and I heard good things from my dog park friends that pepper was vey well behaved with Weini! I trust them to take care of pepper and know she is in good care.”

“We love having Elizabeth come sit for Rocky. She's very helpful, occasionally providing us with useful tips on products or accessories to help with allergies or better general health. Also, noticing behavior tendencies that we haven't picked up on yet. All so helpful for a young pup!”

“I am so thankful that Sinead was available to stay with Bear and Leon while I was away last week:) Her care and attention to their needs is appreciated and I know they had a great week! She sent thoughtful updates and adjusted to Bear’s needs throughout her stay. She treated the house as her own and it was neat and tidy on our return. A heartfelt thank you from all of us and I will definitely reach out next time we are planning to travel! All the best, Merrill”

“Svetlana took great care of my cat and senior dog. She sent frequent updates which gave me peace of mind while I was away. My dog was very comfortable with her and enjoyed long walks in the neighbourhood. I would definitely book Svetlana again for walks to or take care of my boys.”

“Yuliya took amazing care of our sweet fur babies 🐱 + 🐱 while we were away! She sent lots of updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind, and when we got home, our cats were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. As an added bonus, our place was absolutely spotless when we returned, which we really appreciated. We would highly recommend Yuliya to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter for their fur babies while they're away! 🥰🥰”

About: (I share more about cats in my cat sitter profile.) I come from Constantinople, a city with thousands of stray cats and dogs. I spent years caring for animals both in my home and on the streets. I’ve raised and loved many dogs—all of them rescued strays. I’ve also helped injured or sick dogs recover with love, attention, and medical care. During my 6 months working in catering at a major theater (BKM), I regularly saved leftover food and fed dozens of stray dogs—I regularly traveled 25 ml(40km) from Beşiktaş to Arnavutköy/Taşoluk, with heavy bags on my back just to reach them. Caring for dogs has always brought meaning to my life. Their loyalty and energy inspire me. I believe in building trust through kindness, clear communication, and respect for each dog's personality and needs. I’ve never walked or cared for dogs for money before. Back in Constantinople, there are thousands of opportunities to help animals just because they need you—no payments, no expectations, just compassion. But here in Canada, I don’t have that same chance. If I want to stay connected with animals, this is the only path. (I share more about cats in my cat sitter profile.) My care is not just routine—it comes from deep compassion, patience, and commitment. I also have experience with both puppies and senior dogs, and treat them all like family. I used to work full-time for a long time, but recently I reduced my work days to just Thursdays and Saturdays. Even on those days, I work from 5 PM until late at night, so I’m available during the day—especially from morning until 2 PM. The rest of the week, I’m completely free. I truly need the money—no lies—but more importantly, this job will be an endless and priceless therapy for me. Dogs and cats will be the cure for my loneliness, and I’m sure this will help me breathe again. I live on the ground floor, and none of the tenants have any pets at home, nor do we have a fence. My location is very close to beautiful parks, which are perfect for walks and fresh air. I always make sure pets are comfortable and well cared for, whether they are at my place or the client’s home. I’d love to request testimonials, so I’m planning to send an emails to some of my friends. If they agree to write something for me, maybe that will give me the chance to finally do what I love most: care for animals and touch the lives of dogs and cats. If not, this may remain one of those almost-beginnings in life—something I was once very close to, but that you’ll never get to see. Idk, maybe the ones I’ll care for will be the real witnesses of my love and attention. So get ready—soon you might need to understand dogs and cats (birds, insects etc) their language to hear what they’ll say about me! 🐾😄
“Eric was an excellent sitter for our one year old tabby Kiko. It was the first time leaving her, but Eric was so professional and caring, we weren't worried at all. He provided frequent updates complete with photos which we really appreciated. Eric was extremely trustworthy and I wouldn't hesitate to give him a glowing recommendation. We're so glad we found him and hope to have him take care of her again when we're away.”

“Jessica was so great housesitting our cat, Sailor! Sailor warmed up to her so quickly and obviously had a nice time. We got so many wonderful photos, and came back to an immaculately clean house and fresh sheets. We even got a nice card and snack. Would definitely re-book!”

“Outstanding!!! Nathaly was attentive, responsible, caring and keep us informed throughout with photos, videos and messages!! We felt reassured and at peace having had to arrange all of this last minute! She came to last minute meet and greets to get our anxious Golden Retreiver a customized to her…this was accomplished within minutes! Morgan took to her gentle attention and sweet communication to him. He and Duncan (tuxedo cat) were at ease and given much attention! Nathaly cared for our home and we returned to everything in order and tidy!! Thank you Nathaly!! We will be booking again definitely!!!💐”

“Lily looked after our cat Cleo for 3 weeks while we were away and it was clear that she was well taken care of! Lily was very responsive the whole time with sending us updates or any questions - thank you Lily!”

“I have been very satisfied with Rebecca's ability to do such an excellent job in taking care of my dog Max. Max sometimes suffers from separation anxiety so he can be a challenge to deal with when I'm away. Rebecca stayed in my apartment with Max. I believe this, as well as Rebecca's patient and calm manner made all the difference in Max's settling do so well. I would highly recommend Rebecca. I'm very appreciative of her efforts. Thanks again Rebecca!”

“Jonathan is a nice person. He took such good care of Rosie. Rosie is only one year old and we wanted someone with experience and loved cats. Jonathan is the one. We were reassured of her care because he would send us photos of Rosie playing and cuddling with him. He stayed with her for 15 days and when she say my husband and I we noticed that she was happy. Thank you Jonathan. All our best, Gabriella, John and Rosie”

“Deena was amazing with our two kitties, showing lots of love and care. She followed our instructions (including daily meds for 1 of the cats), sent photos each day, and left our home tidy and clean. She salted our drive and sidewalk when it was icy as well. She was also very accommodating of our last minute request and flexible with start / end times. I highly recommend her as a sitter!”

Nathaly is the perfect cat sitter! We were blown away by her kindness, responsiveness, and attention to detail. She made sure our Milo was cared for and loved throughout our time away, sending us detailed updates (with photos and videos) every day to give us added peace of mind. She followed our instructions to a tee. She also went above and beyond to make sure our apartment was spotless, with fresh sheets and watered plants to welcome us home. I highly recommend Nathaly to anyone looking for a pet sitter in Toronto.

Ciara was great at providing updates while I was away on vacation! My cats can both be anxious, so seeing photos of them relaxed and comfortable with her provided such great peace of mind. Really appreciate her last minute availability and patience when dealing with pets with unique care needs!

Gadir is a great person, who clearly loves animals. Our terrier who takes time to warm up to new people, was snuggling up and loving being brushed within a matter of days. We received updates & photos each day, which was really appreciated. Gadir took great care of both our dog & home, and we can’t recommend enough!

Lita was a wonderful house sitter and took great care of Miso (my cat) while I was away for a couple of days. She is reliable, communicative, and made me feel at ease knowing Miso was in good hands. I’d be happy to recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy pet sitter! Miso is in a raw food diet and a high energy cat and she was able to both, feed him and keep him entertained - also, one of the highlights is that she kept me updated with pictures Thanks Lita!

My poor old dog got sick right before Svetlana’s most recent stay with him, at the same time the water went off unexpectedly in my building. She was super calm about the whole thing, kept me updated on how my dog was doing, and made me feel like slightly less of a horrible mom for leaving my dog when he was under the weather. She really cares about him, and it shows

We were a little hesitant at first about leaving Oreo with someone new, but the moment we met Angela, we knew he was in great hands—she's truly an angel. She took wonderful care of Oreo, kept us updated with photos and messages, and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Oreo came home happy, relaxed, and well loved. We highly recommend Angela and will definitely trust her with Oreo again. Thank you so much! 🐾💙

Excellent sitter! I'm almost hesitant to leave too good of a review! She gave us lots of photos throughout the stay which I felt like really showed how much she was enjoying her stay with our cats. Very easy to communicate with and our home and our cats were both in excellent conditions when we got home. I will definitely hire Savannah again in a heart beat!
Cloudia stayed at our home for 1 week to look after our two 8 year old cats, and it was seamless! She sent regular updates with photos and the cats seemed to love her. She left the house spotless and was a pleasure to work with. She was even able to be flexible with timing with our travel plans changed- will definitely be booking with Cloudia again!

Katerina was the best! She stayed in our house and took great care of our precious Luna. Katerina was very responsive, clear, and great to work with. She sent updates and pictures throughout our trip and put our minds at ease. We highly recommend Katerina and will always look to her first for our future pet sitting needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Toronto on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,049 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Toronto. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Toronto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Toronto walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toronto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
