Carrie did AMAZING when watching our 1 year old Siamese cat Bean for the weekend while we were away. She updated us with messages and photos on Bean and was so attentive to every detail on her schedule. When we got home our house was spotless, as she went above and beyond to clean every inch of it. Bean absolutely loved her and we will for sure have her cat sit again!!

I am so thankful that Sinead was available to stay with Bear and Leon while I was away last week:) Her care and attention to their needs is appreciated and I know they had a great week! She sent thoughtful updates and adjusted to Bear’s needs throughout her stay. She treated the house as her own and it was neat and tidy on our return. A heartfelt thank you from all of us and I will definitely reach out next time we are planning to travel! All the best, Merrill

About: (I share more about cats in my cat sitter profile.) I come from Constantinople, a city with thousands of stray cats and dogs. I spent years caring for animals both in my home and on the streets. I’ve raised and loved many dogs—all of them rescued strays. I’ve also helped injured or sick dogs recover with love, attention, and medical care. During my 6 months working in catering at a major theater (BKM), I regularly saved leftover food and fed dozens of stray dogs—I regularly traveled 25 ml(40km) from Beşiktaş to Arnavutköy/Taşoluk, with heavy bags on my back just to reach them. Caring for dogs has always brought meaning to my life. Their loyalty and energy inspire me. I believe in building trust through kindness, clear communication, and respect for each dog's personality and needs. I’ve never walked or cared for dogs for money before. Back in Constantinople, there are thousands of opportunities to help animals just because they need you—no payments, no expectations, just compassion. But here in Canada, I don’t have that same chance. If I want to stay connected with animals, this is the only path. (I share more about cats in my cat sitter profile.) My care is not just routine—it comes from deep compassion, patience, and commitment. I also have experience with both puppies and senior dogs, and treat them all like family. I used to work full-time for a long time, but recently I reduced my work days to just Thursdays and Saturdays. Even on those days, I work from 5 PM until late at night, so I’m available during the day—especially from morning until 2 PM. The rest of the week, I’m completely free. I truly need the money—no lies—but more importantly, this job will be an endless and priceless therapy for me. Dogs and cats will be the cure for my loneliness, and I’m sure this will help me breathe again. I live on the ground floor, and none of the tenants have any pets at home, nor do we have a fence. My location is very close to beautiful parks, which are perfect for walks and fresh air. I always make sure pets are comfortable and well cared for, whether they are at my place or the client’s home. I’d love to request testimonials, so I’m planning to send an emails to some of my friends. If they agree to write something for me, maybe that will give me the chance to finally do what I love most: care for animals and touch the lives of dogs and cats. If not, this may remain one of those almost-beginnings in life—something I was once very close to, but that you’ll never get to see. Idk, maybe the ones I’ll care for will be the real witnesses of my love and attention. So get ready—soon you might need to understand dogs and cats (birds, insects etc) their language to hear what they’ll say about me! 🐾😄

About: Hey everyone! I got tired of petsitting for my friends for free lol, so here I am officially offering my services. If you're looking for someone with real experience, genuine love for animals, and attentive care, I’m your person. I grew up surrounded by animals back in Chile and have always been the go-to pet sitter for friends and family. I’m a dog mom, so I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy, caring, and truly attentive to the furry members of your family. My own dog, Nami, is a rescue and a very sensitive, anxious girl. Caring for her has taught me so much about patience, communication, and understanding each dog’s unique personality and needs. Living with her every day has given me hands-on experience with routines, exercise, enrichment, health monitoring, and creating a calm and safe environment — especially during challenging moments like when she gets triggered by loud noises. Those are the moments where gentle guidance, patience, and comfort matter the most. I’ve also helped friends by safely traveling with and transporting their dogs internationally (I really love reunions hehe), including bringing one dog from Chile and another from Mexico. These experiences taught me responsibility, adaptability, and how to help pets feel safe and comfortable during potentially stressful situations. I’m a full-time private teacher working from home, which allows me to spend a lot of time with the pets in my care — we can definitely keep each other company throughout the day. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, basic care routines, and adapting to each pet’s individual needs. I treat every animal as if they were my own, with kindness, patience, and respect. And of course… if allowed, cuddles are always included 🐾 I work as an online English and Spanish teacher from home, which allows me to spend a lot of time with the pets in my care throughout the day. Because I work remotely, I can provide companionship, supervision, potty breaks, walks, feeding, and plenty of attention while maintaining their regular routine. I understand that every pet has different needs, so I do my best to adapt my schedule to their habits and preferences. Whether your pet enjoys playtime, outdoor walks, quiet companionship, or simply having someone nearby, I’m able to provide a calm and caring presence throughout the day. I know how much our pets become part of our family. My dog Nami (I called her my baby) has taught me just how important trust, consistency, and patience are when caring for an animal. She is skittish, and through her I’ve learned to pay attention to the small things — changes in behavior, routines, energy levels, and all the little details that help a dog feel safe and understood. I know that leaving your pet with someone else can feel stressful, so my goal is to help both you and your pet feel comfortable and at ease. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and individual needs so I can care for them in a way that feels familiar and reassuring. I’m here to help you :) Since I work from home, I’m able to spend a lot of time with the pets in my care and provide plenty of companionship, attention, and supervision throughout the day. Whether it’s going for walks, sticking to feeding schedules, playing, or simply keeping them company, I aim to create a calm, safe, and positive environment where they can feel at home with me.

FAQs for House Sitting - Toronto

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Toronto on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 4,049 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Toronto. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Toronto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Toronto walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toronto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
