“Chester had a wonderful time with Song. He loves trying new foods such as blueberries and broccoli, and going for long walks. Thank you so much for taking good care of him!”

About: I love all types of animals. I know how to train little puppies and I’m pretty sure I did a great job in training my own fur baby! I will make sure to keep them busy and active. I am fully experienced in administering medications for both dogs and cats. Always on top of cleaning their food and water bowl and providing fresh water and make sure they have full and easy access to food and water at all times. Fully experienced with bathing small dogs. Comfortable taking dogs for a walk. Also, my favourite activities are puppy yoga, cat yoga, goat yoga and visiting animal farms and sanctuaries. At the moment, I have a full time job. I am free after 6:00PM on weekdays and fully available on weekends. I love to spend my free times with animals. Caring for pets in my house or a client’s house involves various tasks such as feeding, providing fresh water, exercising, grooming, and cleaning up after them. Additionally, offering companionship and attention to ensure their well-being and happiness is essential. It is very important to follow any specific instructions provided by the pet owner regarding their routines, dietary needs, medications, and any special requirements. Regular communication with the owner about the pet’s behavior and any concerns is also important for maintaining trust and ensuring the best care possible.
“During our trip, Peter was incredibly helpful in taking care of Dodo. Rain or shine, he always made sure to take Dodo out for walks and showed great responsibility. He is also an outstanding and genuinely friendly person, with fast communication and a thoughtful attitude toward our needs. Thanks to him, we were able to see updates about our dog anytime even while we were away. We highly recommend him!”

About: Growing up with dogs since age 12 gave me a foundation in canine behavior and care. I've developed my skills by regularly walking, feeding, and bathing friends' dogs, including Labs, Huskies, Golden Retrievers, and Border Collies. My athletic background makes me uniquely suited for high-energy breeds. I've successfully worked with reactive dogs who need focused, one-on-one attention during walks. My running ability allows me to provide the intensive exercise these dogs need when off-leash time isn't suitable. Recently certified in Pet First Aid through Canadian Red Cross (July 2025). I also share my home with two cats (ages 2.5 and 1.5), so I'm comfortable with multi-pet households. I understand that energetic breeds need both physical exhaustion and mental stimulation to be truly satisfied, and I incorporate both into every walk. As an incoming grad student with a flexible timetable, I'm building my pet care business around my academic schedule. Currently available weekday afternoons from 3 PM onwards, with excellent availability through August. Once the fall semester begins, I'll maintain afternoon availability and may add morning slots depending on my class schedule. I'm committed to maintaining regular walking schedules with my clients and will provide advance notice of any schedule changes. Pet care fits perfectly with my lifestyle as an active person who needs daily exercise myself. Walking dogs isn't just a job for me, it's part of my daily fitness routine, which means your dog gets an enthusiastic, energetic walker every single time I focus exclusively on professional dog walking services to ensure each dog receives my full attention and the best possible care. During walks, I: - Keep dogs securely leashed unless in designated off-leash areas (with owner permission) - Carry Pet First Aid supplies and fresh water - Avoid busy roads when possible, preferring quieter residential streets and trails - Never walk more dogs than I can safely control - Send photo updates so you can see your pup having fun I maintain constant vigilance for potential hazards like aggressive dogs, traffic, or items dogs might ingest. With my Pet First Aid certification, I'm prepared to handle emergencies while immediately contacting both the owner and nearest vet if needed. My athletic ability ensures I can maintain control even with strong, excitable dogs, keeping your pet safe throughout our time together.
About: I’ve been taking care of animals since age 9. From small ones such as birds and fish to cats and dogs. I currently own a Bengal cat, but have previously owned a cocker spaniel, Doberman, and pitbull. I have also dealt with animals that have separation anxiety. I currently work for myself so I am able to create my own schedule. I currently have a lot of free time during weekdays and some evenings. I don’t offer pet stays at my place. However, if I am in your home, just let me know the house rules and we’re good to go! :)
“Tatiana was wonderful! She was flexible, responsive and friendly! We also appreciated that she sent updates throughtout the visit We will definitely use her again.”

“David stayed in our house and took care of our dog Bumba for 7 days while we were away. He demonstrated to be very responsible and caring. He followed all the instructions we gave for Bumba’s care, and provided detailed updates and photos every day. Bumba is a senior dog with especial needs and David really understood that and made us feel at ease during our trip. He not only took care of Bumba but also of our house. We will definitely work with him again!”

About: I have worked with big dogs when volunteering on private farms, like Labrador and Great Pyrenees. Usually, I use leashes and short commands to let new dogs get used to my voice. I like cuddling and grooming them when they are relaxed beside me. I provide at least 2 hours of outdoor exercises, including regular walks and game time every day. I have 3 leash-free parks within a 5-minute walk from home. My home is always quiet without loud music or the radio, and no home fragrance except Adaptil / Feliway when needed. I make sure to check their skin and fur every day, and trim the nails/ give a bath when they are comfortable with me. Personally, I do not encourage chains and crates for pets unless there are safety concerns. I'm basically free to accept bookings any day during the week. I have some online program studies with a flexible schedule that suits my own preferences, so I can stay home most of the time for pet care, except for 3-4 hours away in the afternoon for a part-time babysitting job in my neighbourhood. I live in a pet-friendly & no-smoking building, a quiet community in Markham. There are more than 3 parks for dog walking within a 1km distance from home. I only do boarding for 1 pet each time for better care. If your family has 2 pets for boarding, please message me so we can discuss the details. I trained my indoor cat Bentley with a stable daily routine. He is always calm and passive with visitors, even when I'm not around. Never bites or scratches anyone. When a new pet comes to my place, I usually isolate Bentley in a different room for the first few days to establish trust between them slowly. I have my own car for commuting and a G license.
About: I’ve had dogs as pets since a young age. Enjoying every moment of the companionship and responsibilities. Feeding , bathing , teaching the perfect trick over and over. Dogs ask us for so little - just to be loved ❤️ They give us unconditional Love I work from home and have plenty of time to step out for walks and potty relief. My own 14 year old beagle has passed away and the home is empty , needing to be filled with 4 legged fur I can give attention and love to :) I live in a condo , but get out several times a day for walks for myself and my beagle when she was still with us. Doing lots of dog less walks currently , and thought might be lovely to have a walking partner again
“I can’t say enough good things about Shima! My dog is usually very shy and cautious around new people, so I was a bit nervous about leaving her for two days, But from the moment they met, I could tell there was something special about Shima. My dog immediately felt comfortable with her, which is very rare. Throughout the stay, she kept me updated and made sure my dog was happy, relaxed, and well taken care of. When I picked her up, she was calm, content, and clearly had bonded with her sitter. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing my dog was in such caring and capable hands. If you’re looking for someone who truly connects with animals and treats them like family, I highly recommend Shima. She’s truly amazing! ❤️”

About: What sets me apart is a decade of hands-on experience with the SPCA, handling dogs at their most vulnerable stages. I'm working part-time, so I have time to take care of your pets. I'm available for boarding on weekdays and weekends except Wednesdays and Thursdays. I keep my dog at home and walk him every day. I always prepare sufficient food and water for him and make sure he has enough exercise. I regularly take him to the vet for a check-up to make sure he is healthy.
“Great experience with Mark. Contacted him last minute and he was easily able to accommodate and adapt. Our little Pomeranian is timid with strangers and he really helped her warm up to him. I would 100% recommend. Will be contacting him again soon!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond Hill
Maneli was an absolute blessing to our family! We left our little zoo, of 3 dogs and a cat, in her care for 2 weeks, and from the beginning we knew they were in good hands. She took the time to learn each animal's personality, routines, likes and dislikes and handled our very energetic husky, Percy, with the perfect mix of love and firm boundaries - did I mentioned very energetic. While we were away, she send us daily photos, videos and updates. She played with them, gave each of them individual attention and was incredibly observant-even noticing when Percy was eating less and possibly losing weight. For the first time, I could actually enjoy being away without worrying about our animals. They weren't simply looked after - they were genuinely cared for and loved. To top it all she managed our home, garden service and water our indoor plants. We came home to a clean and cared for home. We would trust Maneli with our furry family again in a heartbeat, she is an absolute angel for them.

Rebooked with Sydney. She was just as reliable and caring as the first time. Watched my cat Poe for a week in my home. Sydney was incredibly response and kept my mind at ease while I was traveling with frequent updates and pictures. Will definitely continue to reach out in the future. Thank you Sydney!

During our trip, Peter was incredibly helpful in taking care of Dodo. Rain or shine, he always made sure to take Dodo out for walks and showed great responsibility. He is also an outstanding and genuinely friendly person, with fast communication and a thoughtful attitude toward our needs. Thanks to him, we were able to see updates about our dog anytime even while we were away. We highly recommend him!

I had a great experience with Moru watching my cat. She was very reliable and sent me regular updates with pictures and videos, which I really appreciated. She took great care of Cali, including feeding her on time, cleaning her litter box, and giving her treats, just as I asked. I felt very comfortable with her and would definitely book her again!

Jordan is the best! My Molly is a very frightened-of-the-world and reactive dog. Jordan came by the day before to meet Molly. He made friends with her. very quickly. Jordan is so calm, laid back, and friendly that Molly responded very positively to him in record time. When he came the next say to sit with Molly, she was so happy to see him. Jordan is Molly's new BFF. He took extremely good care of Molly. Next time I need a sitter, it will be Jordan again. He is the best.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,926 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Richmond Hill. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Richmond Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Richmond Hill walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richmond Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
