“My regular sitter was unavailable last minute, and since I was getting married that weekend, I needed someone reliable right away. This was my first time using Rover, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Sophie watched my two big dogs (an XL Akita and a large husky) and my cat, and she was amazing. A lot of people are intimidated by my dogs, but she handled them with so much care and confidence. She went above and beyond, brushing them, cuddling them, and sending me updates and pictures throughout. My shy cat even came out to spend time with her, which says everything! I’m so grateful I found Sophie, she’s absolutely wonderful!”

“We can’t thank Solana enough for the incredible job she did looking after both Petunia and our home while we were away. Leaving everything behind for an extended trip can be stressful, but from the moment we met Solana, we knew we had made the right choice. She treated Petunia with so much love, patience, and care. The updates and photos she sent while we were away meant so much to us and made it easy to relax, knowing Petunia was happy, comfortable, and being treated like one of her own. When we returned home, our house was spotless and exactly as we had left it. It was clear that Solana had taken exceptional care of both our home and our beloved pup. Solana is kind, trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely passionate about what she does. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to care for Petunia, and we would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a dog and house sitter. Thank you, Solana, for giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. We will absolutely be reaching out to you again in the future!”

“Didem was lovely! Super easy to chat with and warm and friendly. She stayed at my place for 3 nights and my cat instantly liked her, which is all you can hope for leaving them with a sitter.”

“Laura took excellent care of both our cat and our home. She was very communicative and sent us regular updates about how our sweet girl, Ophelia, was doing while we were away. She also went above and beyond to tidy up our place before leaving. We will definitely be booking her again. Thanks Laura!”

“Great experience with Mark. Contacted him last minute and he was easily able to accommodate and adapt. Our little Pomeranian is timid with strangers and he really helped her warm up to him. I would 100% recommend. Will be contacting him again soon!”

“Elizabeth took care of our puppy for a week, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after her. She kept us updated every single day with photos, videos, and thoughtful messages about how our puppy was doing, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. When we came home, the house was spotless, and it was obvious that our puppy had been loved and cared for as if she were Elizabeth’s own. We are incredibly grateful for her kindness, professionalism, and the genuine care she showed. Finding someone you can completely trust with your beloved pet is priceless, and Elizabeth is exactly that person. We would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and trustworthy dog sitter. Thank you, Elizabeth—we are so grateful for everything you did for us and our little girl.”

“William is such a caring and attentive sitter, I know I can trust my pets to be in the best hands when he is looking after them. William has great communication and is very respectful. I would recommend him to anyone looking for total peace of mind while they are away - he gets to know the pets and I know they love having him over!”
“Nicole was so incredibly attentive and considerate of my dogs (3) and home. I was on a 2 week vacation which ended up getting extended to 2 and a half and on very short notice she accommodated. I also have a disabled dog who she ensured was properly cared for. I received many photo and text updates as well to keep me informed and comfortable. I’m extremely happy with her service and I will definitely be booking with her again!”
“We hired Jen to stay in our home while we travelled for two weeks. I interviewed a few people, and it was our dog, Roxy, who chose Jen. She immediately took to her looking for affection. Glad we trusted Roxy’s instincts because Jen was fabulous. She kept to Roxy’s routine and sent many updates throughout our time away. the cherry on top was coming home to a spotless house! I wouldn’t hesitate to use Jen again and 100% recommend her!”

“Mardi was just great with Walter, our energetic Border Terrier. She looked after him in our home. Mardi was punctual, very responsible and took good care of Walter, feeding him, playing with him and taking him out. Mardi has a lovely personality and I highly recommend her as a dog sitter.”

“Selena was great! She kept us well informed throughout her stay with Margot, also being proactive in her communication when it seemed Margot wasn’t feeling 100%. Selena also left our house in amazing shape upon leaving!”

“Tatiana did an amazing job looking after my pup! She had taken her for walks and played a ton with her. Tatiana had sent a lot of updates and pics as well so I could be at ease while I was away from home. Tatiana was also able to move the date at the very last minute when I made a mistake. I would 100% recommend Tatiana!!”

About: Hi there! My name is Janis, and I am a newly graduated veterinarian. I have had a lifelong love for animals and years of practical hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I am currently offering dog walking, dog sitting, and pet care services with a very flexible schedule before I begin full time veterinary work at the end of July. Thanks to my extensive veterinary training and clinical experience, I am comfortable caring for pets with medical needs, administering medications, monitoring senior pets, and helping anxious animals feel safe and comfortable. Whether your pet loves long walks, a shorter stroll, playtime and enrichment, cuddles on the couch, or just a calm reassuring presence, I tailor my care to what makes them happiest. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your animal. I’ll always treat your pets like they’re my own, and keep you updated with plenty of photos and communication while they’re in my care! Id love to meet you and your furry family members! I start full time veterinary work at the end of July. Until then, my schedule is extremely flexible and am happy to cater to anyone’s needs. Once I start to work, we can discuss more concrete times. I always aim to make pets feel comfortable, safe, and loved as possible while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home for drop-ins, walks, or sitting visits, I do my best to stick closely to their normal routine so they can feel relaxed and secure in their familiar environment. As a newly graduated veterinarian, your pets safety and wellbeing are always my top priorities. I’m comfortable caring for pets of all ages and personalities, including puppies/kittens, anxious animals, senior pets, and those with medical needs. I’m also trained to recognize subtle signs of stress or illness, which gives many owners extra peace of mind when trusting someone with their furry family member. For dogs, I priority safe walks, secure leashing/harnessing, hydration, enrichment, and lots of positive attention. For cats, I understand the importance of patience, calm energy, and respecting each cat’s individual comfort level. I know how nerve-wracking it can feel leaving your pet with someone new, so communication is huge for me. You can always expect regular updates, photos, and honesty throughout my visits. My goal is not only for your pets to be well cared for, but genuinely excited to see me again!

“This was my first time booking Jessica to house-sit and take care of my dog while I was away on a 10-day vacation. She was incredibly professional, reliable, and clearly has a natural connection with animals—my dog absolutely loved her and even missed her after she left! I came home to a spotless house and a happy, healthy pup. I would definitely recommend Jessica!”

“We recently had Maria dog sit for us after a family member canceled on us last minute. I had reached out to her about 2 weeks before hand asking if she could keep herself available in case this situation happened. My fur baby went to stay at her place for 9 days. She was absolutely amazing with storm kept me updated regularly and made sure I had piece of mind on my vacation. I will use her services again in the future should the need arise. She followed all directions I have her for my dogs diet requirements. The level of love and care she gave to storm was exceptional and she went over and above to make sure a time was cared for. I highly recommend her!!!!”

“I’m so grateful to have met Haley! She came to meet us in advance to be introduced and then stayed in our house with my dog, Grace. Grace is getting older and struggles with anxiety so it’s ideal to keep her in her environment. Haley was so patient and kind with her. She took such care of the house too - is clean and conscientious- even bringing in my recycling! I’d recommend her to anyone. What a great experience!”

“Thanks for everything you’ve done for us and Arlo IFE! It was our first time leaving our dog alone with someone and you made sure we felt at ease about the entire process. We look forward to working you again in the future :)”

About: Growing up with dogs since age 12 gave me a foundation in canine behavior and care. I've developed my skills by regularly walking, feeding, and bathing friends' dogs, including Labs, Huskies, Golden Retrievers, and Border Collies. My athletic background makes me uniquely suited for high-energy breeds. I've successfully worked with reactive dogs who need focused, one-on-one attention during walks. My running ability allows me to provide the intensive exercise these dogs need when off-leash time isn't suitable. Recently certified in Pet First Aid through Canadian Red Cross (July 2025). I also share my home with two cats (ages 2.5 and 1.5), so I'm comfortable with multi-pet households. I understand that energetic breeds need both physical exhaustion and mental stimulation to be truly satisfied, and I incorporate both into every walk. As an incoming grad student with a flexible timetable, I'm building my pet care business around my academic schedule. Currently available weekday afternoons from 3 PM onwards, with excellent availability through August. Once the fall semester begins, I'll maintain afternoon availability and may add morning slots depending on my class schedule. I'm committed to maintaining regular walking schedules with my clients and will provide advance notice of any schedule changes. Pet care fits perfectly with my lifestyle as an active person who needs daily exercise myself. Walking dogs isn't just a job for me, it's part of my daily fitness routine, which means your dog gets an enthusiastic, energetic walker every single time I focus exclusively on professional dog walking services to ensure each dog receives my full attention and the best possible care. During walks, I: - Keep dogs securely leashed unless in designated off-leash areas (with owner permission) - Carry Pet First Aid supplies and fresh water - Avoid busy roads when possible, preferring quieter residential streets and trails - Never walk more dogs than I can safely control - Send photo updates so you can see your pup having fun I maintain constant vigilance for potential hazards like aggressive dogs, traffic, or items dogs might ingest. With my Pet First Aid certification, I'm prepared to handle emergencies while immediately contacting both the owner and nearest vet if needed. My athletic ability ensures I can maintain control even with strong, excitable dogs, keeping your pet safe throughout our time together.
“It was a pleasure to meet Hedi. We knew we could leave Harley in her care with no worries. Hedi's first update was that Harley had fallen asleep and slept on her lap for two hours soon after we'd left. Harley obviously knew she was in safe hands. I've added her photos to Harley's album.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Vaughan
Tatiana was amazing! She watched our very anxious dog for eight days and was exceptional. She was patient in letting our nervous pup get to know her over the first day or two and never pushed past her comfort zone. She sent constant updates with photos and videos, and they went on many beautiful walks and hikes. At the end of the eight days they were well bonded and we came home to a very happy dog! I would definitely rebook Tatiana in the future.

Liny was fantastic! We had only ever used drop in services before and our cat always hid from them and was an anxious wreck by the time we returned We decided to try housesitting with Liny and she was great! Before we had even reached the Cottage we had rented she had sent photos of her and our cat Riggs cuddled up, and all of my worries were gone! She kept us updated throughout the week and it was a worry free experience! We would definitely use her again. She’s incredible!

I'm so glad I found Ann on this website. She's a very kind and friendly girl! My dog was happy with her; she found the right approach for him. I was very pleased that she took the time to send me updates with photos. Everything went very smoothly and without stress for my dog😍🥰

We cannot say enough good things about Ruhani and Sagar. They took amazing care of our 2 year old bully/lab mix over the weekend and we were anxious to leave him but they were so reassuring, sending us plenty of updates, and keeping our baby in his routine! They took wonderful care of our home as well. They truly seem like naturals and we really felt walter missed them as soon as they left! We feel so much better about leaving him the next time we go away. For the crazy dog parents we are, they really put us at ease. Highly recommend to anyone!

Alina was wonderful and very responsible. She came and stayed with my Siamese cat and my little dog. She took great care of them and Alina sent me pics and updates everyday. This is the first time I have left my babies with anyone and she made me feel at ease. They slept with her and got attached to her very quickly. My little dog, Chichi, is a finiky eater and she made sure that he ate his food daily. She sent me pics of his food before and after he ate everyday. Alina was home with my pets everyday. She did not leave alone. I should mention that my home was full of boxes as I am moving but she worked around them. Would I ask her to watch my pets again? Absolutely...Would I recommend her to my friends and family? In a second. Again thanks Alina, you are truly amazing.
It was good to finally connect with Crystal. We felt she really took a liking to Harley when we met over the summer, and Harley seemed quite comfortable with her. Harley is 17 and blind. She may not see you, but she sure seems to know when she's safe. When we briefed Crystal this morning, Harley was right there at her feet (perhaps just waiting for us to leave?). When we finally did leave, Harley was lounging on Crystal's lap. They had a busy day, including a walk to one of our regular spots, a few naps and she was comfortable enough to go about her usual business of exploring. I don't know if we were missed or not. Thank you, Crystal, for your patience and calmness watching our girl.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Vaughan on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,997 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vaughan. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vaughan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vaughan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vaughan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
