“Melissa is fabulous. I felt totally comfortable with her watching my pets in our home. It’s obvious how much Melissa loves cats! She sent us pictures and regular updates. Our house was clean and tidy when we returned . She informed us when she arrived and only left an hour before we got home . Absolutely we will arrange for Melissa to come again . Having Melissa here means that I can totally relax and not worry when we are away ! Thanks !”

“Alissa was a wonderful dog sitter for our puppy Cosmo. She made the time for an initial meeting and asked lots of meaningful questions to ensure that she would be the best sitter possible for Cosmo. She sent lots of updates and Cosmo absolutely loved playing with her and sleeping in her lap. I would not hesitate to have her dog sit Cosmo again! Such a great first experience.”

“Elizabeth is absolutely wonderful and caring. Not sure if my dogs actually wanted her to leave. Will definitely book again. She went above and beyond in the care of my babies. Thank you Elizabeth”

About: Dogs bring so much joy wherever they go, and I've always wanted to own one. Alas, I haven't gotten the priviledge. But I've always had a big interest in them, and have done my research on their body language and training techniques. My aunts have a lot of dogs, and they taught me how to care for them. They will be in good hands! I'm a morning person with a lot of free time, so I should be able to care for your pet up to the evening if necessary. I'm unavailable on Tuesdays and Sundays. If any event comes up during the week and I become unavailable, I will be upfront about it. Of course, as I will not be staying at my own house, I will treat the property with respect, and your pet will too! Dogs will be given consistent walks at least 2-3 times a day. Cats will have play time and a clean litter box. I will pay attention to your pet's mood and body language, and ensure they have a comfortable time under my care. I bring a calm composure that most pets are attracted to.
About: Hi, I’m Mel! Animals have been a huge part of both my professional and personal life for as long as I can remember. I currently work at a pet boarding facility where I care for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, personalities and energy levels. Every day has taught me how important it is to pay attention to each pets individual needs, read their body language, and help them feel comfortable and safe while in my care. Before that, I worked as an Assistant Manager at a pet store for nearly three years, where I gained extensive knowledge of pet care, nutrition and customer education. I’ve also enjoyed participating in pet-centred community events, including rescue and adoption focused events, which has allowed me to connect with even more animals and pet owners. I’m also the proud pet parent of Moo, my rescue Border Collie mix. Moo has been working on building his confidence around other dogs and fast moving things like bikes and scooters, and I’ve spent years working alongside his trainer to support his progress. That experience has taught me so much about patience, recognizing triggers, positive reinforcement, and meeting dogs where they’re at. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, so I’d love to learn all about their routines, quirks, favourite treats and anything that helps them feel happiest. My goal is to make every visit feel safe, fun and tailored to your pet as an individual. I work rotating shifts, so my availability varies from day to day. I’m always happy to coordinate schedules ahead of time and make sure your pet gets plenty of attention before and after my shifts. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family member! 🐾 Pet care is already a big part of my daily routine! I work at a pet boarding facility, so I’m around dogs and cats regularly. My schedule varies because I work rotating shifts, but I’m happy to coordinate walks and visits around my schedule and your pet’s routine. I currently offer care in your home, where I can keep your pet comfortable in their familiar environment and follow their normal routine as closely as possible. I have reliable transportation, so I’m able to travel to your home for scheduled overnights, walks and drop-in visits!
“Laura (and her partner, Nick) took wonderful care of my anxious dog, Luna. Laura provided daily updates, administered Luna’s anxiety medication, and carefully followed the routines and protocols we have in place for her separation anxiety. It gave me great peace of mind knowing Luna was well cared for and genuinely loved. Luna enjoys spending time with Laura and Nick whenever I’m away. I highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter, especially if you have an anxious pup!”

“Wigan was great with our two little dogs! They warmed up to him right away and had a great time with him in our place. Wigan sent updates and had quick communication. We felt very comfortable leaving ur pups in his care and will definitely request his service again!”

About: I have recently graduated from the Animal Care program at Sheridan College. There I learned basic first-aid and CPR, training/restraint/handling technics for both dogs and cats. I grew up with both cats and dogs, my entire life. I have also worked at doggy daycares and currently working at Pet Valu. I believe my combination of knowledge, compassion and love for animals sets me apart from others. This is my full time job. I have a few clients that I do daily walks and drop-in visits for so I am away for 3-4 hours in the morning. As I live in an Apartment I will not be providing care in my home, I also have a cat with FIV and cannot bring any new pets around as a safety precaution. I am available to provide care in clients home as directed.
“Janaya was great at communicating with me and took very good care of Hachi! She followed his routine well and took him for walks & helped with his crate training as he’s working on separation anxiety Very lovely!!!”

“Nicole took amazing care of our two dogs, one of which was still a puppy! She also took great care of our house as she stayed with the dogs at our place. We will be using her again soon and highly recommend her”

About: I’ve been around pets my entire life from my own dogs and cats to friends hedgehogs and birds. Family, friends and neighbours rely on me to take care of their pets when they are out of town for a week or gone for a day trip. I have experience with puppies, elderly pets and special needs dogs. I am active and will make sure that your pet is well looked after with lots of playing, walks and more! I just finished my Bachelor of Education and am taking some time to enjoy life before going full force into the job market. I usually have 1 or 2 classes downtown in the evenings during the week but will be going straight back to your furry friend after. Even with a fenced in yard, I always supervise any pets when they are outdoors. When indoors, I am constantly checking in to make sure that pets aren’t getting into anything they shouldn’t be. I am a strong believer in positive reinforcement and use treats, tickles and happiness to convey when a pet is being good. All animals need stimulation - I am active and will make sure that walks are done daily, we play in the garden or the house and your pet is happy and healthy.
“Emily was awesome. Our pets Baloo and Nala were so well taken care of and happy. Emily sent daily photos of walks, play time and feeding time, keeping us updated on how both were doing. We will definitely book Emily again. Thank you.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Dog-Sitting Experience I couldn’t be happier with the care Alexandria provided while dog-sitting my dog! From the very beginning, she was kind, responsible, attentive, and genuinely caring. I could tell my dog was comfortable and happy in her care, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. Alexandria kept me updated, followed all the instructions perfectly, and treated my dog as if he were her own. Her patience, reliability, and genuine love for dogs really stood out. I highly recommend Alexandria to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to look after their pet. Absolutely excellent service, and I would happily trust her with my dog again! 🐶❤️ Thank you so much, Alexandria!

We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our anxious pup, Leah! Venessa stayed at our place for 12 days while we were away, and it was absolutely the right call for Leah's comfort and peace of mind. Venessa was attentive, caring, and clearly understood how to handle an anxious dog. She kept us updated regularly throughout our trip, which made being away so much easier — we never once felt stressed or worried about Leah. She also went above and beyond by staying in touch with our friends and family who were available on the days Venessa had in-office work commitments, ensuring Leah always had familiar faces around her. That level of coordination and thoughtfulness was truly impressive. If you have a dog who struggles with anxiety, look no further. Venessa gets it, and she handles it beautifully. We'll absolutely be booking her again!

D’Arcy was amazing during our home sitting booking for my two dogs, Kiki and Bingo. He was reliable, caring, and kept the house clean and organized while we were away. Kiki and Bingo were both happy, comfortable, and clearly very well looked after. He gave updates throughout the stay, which gave me peace of mind. I would definitely trust him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable and caring sitter.

Elena cared for my blind dog in my home. She was exceptionally good at giving me daily updates & photos of my dog at different stages. I found her trustworthy, friendly & felt she truly loved all animals. My holiday was great because I was confident my dog was cared for. I definitely will call her again & I know my pet will welcome her back.
Deeksha was amazing taking care of our little kitten! She was very responsive, came over to meet him beforehand, and is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about cats! This made us feel so comfortable in having her housesit with Mochi. We were updated throughout and after, and are definitely going to be booking her again!

This is the second time we’ve used Cris to dog sit. She was very good with our elderly dog, took great care of him, helped him up and down the stairs, and she had great communication with lots of videos/pictures. Highly recommend, would use her services again.

Julie was amazing! She was so kind, and Harley loved her right away. She took him on plenty of walks, his favourite! She gave him all the attention and comfort he needed for his separation anxiety. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such caring hands. Highly recommend her to anyone!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Etobicoke maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Etobicoke walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Etobicoke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 82% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
