“As always, so dependable and the animals are happy. Nicole has stayed with our two cats and our dog a number of times and I just think she’s fabulous. As we continue to request her, I don’t know how many reviews I can leave, but they’ll always be positive.”

“Katerina looked after my precious cat Clementine while my partner and I were out of the country during the holidays. She was very attentive, flexible and sent many updates! I was able to enjoy my trip knowing my cat was in good hands. I would definitely recommend Katerina!”

“Melissa is the best. Not only did she take great care of our cats while we were away on a two week holiday, she also agreed to check in on them an extra day after we missed our flight and were stranded overseas.”

About: I’ve always loved being around animals and caring for them. Friends and family have trusted me with their pets, and I truly enjoy spending time with dogs whether it’s going for walks, playing fetch, or just keeping them company. I’m detail-oriented, responsible, and quick to learn your pet’s unique needs and routines. I work until 2:30 PM on weekdays, which leaves my afternoons, evenings, and weekends free for pet care. This flexible schedule allows me to spend quality time with your pet—whether that means afternoon check-ins, evening playtime, or overnight stays. When caring for pets in their own home, I make it my priority to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all care instructions closely—whether it’s feeding, playtime, litter box cleaning, or medications—and I take time to build trust, especially with shy or independent pets. I always respect your home by keeping things tidy and secure, and I’m mindful to lock doors, follow house rules, and treat your space with care. I know how important updates are, so I’m happy to send photos and messages to give you peace of mind while you’re away. Your pet’s comfort and safety come first, every visit.
“I highly recommend Alissa. She was so great and patient with my little old man Hunter dog. She gave me text, picture, and video updates. She played with Hunter, fed him, gave him treats, and was very attentive. I will be booking her services again.”
“We were a little hesitant at first about leaving Oreo with someone new, but the moment we met Angela, we knew he was in great hands—she's truly an angel. She took wonderful care of Oreo, kept us updated with photos and messages, and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Oreo came home happy, relaxed, and well loved. We highly recommend Angela and will definitely trust her with Oreo again. Thank you so much! 🐾💙”

About: I have recently graduated from the Animal Care program at Sheridan College. There I learned basic first-aid and CPR, training/restraint/handling technics for both dogs and cats. I grew up with both cats and dogs, my entire life. I have also worked at doggy daycares and currently working at Pet Valu. I believe my combination of knowledge, compassion and love for animals sets me apart from others. This is my full time job. I have a few clients that I do daily walks and drop-in visits for so I am away for 3-4 hours in the morning. As I live in an Apartment I will not be providing care in my home, I also have a cat with FIV and cannot bring any new pets around as a safety precaution. I am available to provide care in clients home as directed.
About: I have been around dogs my entire life and I know how to play with, care for, and look after dogs. Recently I have looked after two dogs this summer for pay with glowing reviews I currently have a very flexible schedule, allowing me to accommodate all types of bookings. While I am pursuing full-time employment opportunities, I am fully committed to providing reliable pet care Dogs will be monitored all the time I like to have my eyes on the dogs at all times to make sure they aren’t getting into anything they aren’t supposed to. I will gladly be in the backyard with the dogs to ensure they don’t escape through any sort of openings in fences
“Elizabeth watched our 2 dogs for a night at our place and she was amazing. On short notice she made the time to come and do a meet and greet to ensure everyone was a good match. She put my wife and I at ease immediately and the dogs took to her right away. She was very thorough with her questions and making sure she knew what we wanted. She let us know when she arrives, sent plenty of pictures and kept us updated the whole time. Upon returning home the our 2 girls were happy after being obviously well cared for. We would most certainly recommend Elizabeth and will look to have her sit again.”

About: My husband and I are crazy animal lovers and always stop to greet and pat a good fur boy or girl when we meet one. We have been dog-sitting for over 4 years now, and our clients absolutely love us and keep coming back. We live in a townhouse with more than enough space for a dog to be comfortable indoor. We have an open park close to the house and there are 2 off-leash parks within the complex. My husband is super high in energy and I'm the laid back cuddly bear so your pet will absolutely love it here My husband and I work from home and are early risers. When fur sitting, we take them out for a long walk before 9 am and 2 more quick potty breaks till 5pm. We later take them for another long walk covering the park, a huge parking lot beside the condo and the off leash area, before we get settled for dinner. We also take them for 1 or 2 more potty breaks before going to bed. While we're working, the pet is allowed on the sofa so they would be resting there or if you drop of their bed, we'll make sure to put it beside the sofa. We understand some of our fur babies don't like sleeping alone. Happy to cuddle with them in the night on the sofa :) My husband and I understand every animal is unique and have their own love language. We respect their personality and space, and would go great lengths to make sure they are comfortable.

About: I’ve been taking care of pets ever since my family got our first puppy when I was five years old. I have a lot of experience with both small and big dogs, as well as cats, since I often babysit my friends’ and neighbours’ pets when they are out of town. Right now I have lot of free time on my hands, so I am available for daytime pet care, and I am also available for multiple day stays if needed. Your pet - your rules. I will always ask for the instructions how to best care for your pet, and follow them to the letter.

“From the moment she arrived to stay with our 18-month old Shih-poo Rosie, Vaish knew exactly what to do to connect with our shy girl. Within ten minutes Rosie and Vaish had become fast friends and we left for the day knowing all was well. Vaish maintained Rosie’s walking and feeding schedule, and sent lovely photos and messages through the day to keep us apprised of how things were going. Vaish was the epitome of excellence in a dog carer—wonderful and timely communication, great questions and super interaction with Rosie and with us. We’re so grateful we found you! Thank you, Vaish!”

“Zen was super friendly and great with Milou. Although Milou is shy to warm up with anyone new, he spent the full day with Zen and was very well cared for. Zen offered great communication throughout the stay with Milou, walked and fed Milou, and overall offered exactly what I needed to know that my dog was in good hands! Will definitely book again.”

“Jennifer was a reliable and excellent sitter. My dog Blu and her bonded over the days she was house sitting, a sign that she was attentive to needs of my pup. Wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jennifer again!”

“Alisha was exceptional with our little guy. She was so thoughtful for us to meet and greet so she could know everything about Bira. Bira immediately took to Alisha. I want to specifically note that Bira was not feeling well when we needed to have this house sitting - but Alisha was a rockstar! Took SUCH GREAT CARE of him, kept us updated at all times! Her proactive, caring and thoughtful approach has left us sure that we will be working with her again. Bira and we are thankful to you. Also, Bira misses you for sure!”

“Clare took great care of our kitties and home while we were away - she has a gentle and calm presence and we felt safe and assured that she would well-manage things. We came home to a tidy house and happy cats!”

We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our anxious pup, Leah! Venessa stayed at our place for 12 days while we were away, and it was absolutely the right call for Leah's comfort and peace of mind. Venessa was attentive, caring, and clearly understood how to handle an anxious dog. She kept us updated regularly throughout our trip, which made being away so much easier — we never once felt stressed or worried about Leah. She also went above and beyond by staying in touch with our friends and family who were available on the days Venessa had in-office work commitments, ensuring Leah always had familiar faces around her. That level of coordination and thoughtfulness was truly impressive. If you have a dog who struggles with anxiety, look no further. Venessa gets it, and she handles it beautifully. We'll absolutely be booking her again!

D’Arcy was amazing during our home sitting booking for my two dogs, Kiki and Bingo. He was reliable, caring, and kept the house clean and organized while we were away. Kiki and Bingo were both happy, comfortable, and clearly very well looked after. He gave updates throughout the stay, which gave me peace of mind. I would definitely trust him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable and caring sitter.

Melissa was AMAZING! We just moved to the Toronto area 3 months ago and this was the first we’ve left our pup, Sebby, since we moved. He’s a pretty shy introvert, which comes out in a vocal manner when he meets new people. Melissa was very patient and came to get to know Sebby a few times before we left. She stayed with him for 9 days and shared photos of updates of him continuing to open up to her and her pup Kahlo! She was a great communicator and made sure Sebby had a blast, plus was great with his meds! We will for sure be rebooking!

Elena cared for my blind dog in my home. She was exceptionally good at giving me daily updates & photos of my dog at different stages. I found her trustworthy, friendly & felt she truly loved all animals. My holiday was great because I was confident my dog was cared for. I definitely will call her again & I know my pet will welcome her back.
Deeksha was amazing taking care of our little kitten! She was very responsive, came over to meet him beforehand, and is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable about cats! This made us feel so comfortable in having her housesit with Mochi. We were updated throughout and after, and are definitely going to be booking her again!

This is the second time we’ve used Cris to dog sit. She was very good with our elderly dog, took great care of him, helped him up and down the stairs, and she had great communication with lots of videos/pictures. Highly recommend, would use her services again.

Julie was amazing! She was so kind, and Harley loved her right away. She took him on plenty of walks, his favourite! She gave him all the attention and comfort he needed for his separation anxiety. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such caring hands. Highly recommend her to anyone!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Etobicoke maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Etobicoke walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Etobicoke choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
