“Lorin was great! Her communication was great! I got updates throughout her care for my pup and was happy to see and know my girl was in good hands. Definitely recommend Lorin!”

“Ethan was an excellent sitter for our dog while we were out of town!! He responded quickly to messages and handled a last-minute booking change with ease. He kept us updated throughout the stay, which gave us peace of mind :)”

“Another great week of our Athena with Jeff and Raissa. We returned to happy and healthy dog, house sparkling clean, and flowers for us!!!! Jeff is extremely loving and caring towards dogs. Athena had 24 hours attention from both of them and this constant presence of someone in the house definitely made up for our absence (we highly appreciate it). We have mountains of proof that she was in best hands. He let her abuse him and snuggled in his bed (which she's not allowed to do with us) and we find it so sweet and loving act on Jeff's part. Jeff adjusts to what a dog needs, not the other way around. He understands that the owner's absence is disturbing to a pet and he does all to make up for it. When we returned from vacation, Athena didn't show any signs of distress, moved back into her routine with us smoothly and this is the best testimony that her week was also relaxed.. Thank you Jeff and till the next time.”

“Laura (and her partner, Nick) took wonderful care of my anxious dog, Luna. Laura provided daily updates, administered Luna’s anxiety medication, and carefully followed the routines and protocols we have in place for her separation anxiety. It gave me great peace of mind knowing Luna was well cared for and genuinely loved. Luna enjoys spending time with Laura and Nick whenever I’m away. I highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter, especially if you have an anxious pup!”

“We couldn't be happier with the amazing care our dogs Rusty + Tax received! From the moment Yanqi arrived, it was clear she genuinely loves what she does. She seamlessly followed our routine, making sure the pups felt comfortable, safe, and loved throughout our time away. What impressed us most was her attentiveness and communication. She kept us updated throughout the day with adorable pictures and messages, which gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in great hands. It's obvious that both Rusty & Tax absolutely adored her... the connection they built was heartwarming to see! She was also incredibly respectful of our home, treating everything with care. If you're looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and experienced to look after your furry family member, we highly recommend her without hesitation. We'll definitely be booking her again for future sits! Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our pup! 🐾”

“Xenia stayed at our place over the weekend to care for our dog and she was fantastic! She sent us photos and videos throughout the day to keep us updated and was respectful of the space. We’d be happy to have her care for Millie any time :)”

“Third time's the charm! This was Linda's third visit with our rescue Jasper. Linda's patience and diligence in building trust has paid off with cuddles and ear scratches. We appreciate Linda's proactive communication and commitment to providing excellent care while establishing a relationship with our shy and particular girl. Linda continues to be very accommodating with schedule adjustments and keeps the house very tidy. We'll be booking with her again soon!”

“Angelica was fantastic with our 3 angels! Her communication was spot on and we could have a wonderful 2 weeks away with knowing that our dogs were in fantastic hands. Thanks for going the extra mile with taking care of some household items over and above. I will for sure recommend her!”

“Jenn took amazing care of our dog and home. Rosie just loves her. Lots of walks, cuddles and good company. Jenn is a great communicator. Highly recommend Jenn, we will book with her again and again.”

About: My first cat lived until he was 16 and I took care of him since I was 10. My current cat is 4 and has some health issues so i’m able to administer oral medication. I also took care of the stray cat in my neighborhood by feeding her and playing with her and spending time with her. I also grew up playing with, and walking my grandparents dogs, so I have experience with young and old animals. Your pet will be in very good hands, and I look forward to meeting them! I currently work part time as a cashier, so my schedule is very open. I work approximately 4 days a week 4 or 5 hour shifts. I currently live with roommates so I would not be able to care for your pet at my house, but I am able to care for your pet at your house.

“Margot had a great time with Selena again! As always she’s very responsive, is constantly communicating and is ensuring the pets have an enjoyable time and are sticking to their normal routines. Margot looks forward to the next time Selena is over!”

“Heather was amazing! It was our families first time booking a house/pet sitter for our dogs outside of family and our first time leaving one of our dogs. Not only did Heather come and do a pre-visit but was beyond amazing with both my dogs. She sent photos and updates the week we were away and it was abundantly clear both my dogs adored her. She also managed workers that needed to come to my home due to a leak right before our trip which was a huge relief. Definitely recommend Heather to anyone! We will for sure be booking her again in the future.”

“Mark is sensational. We trusted Mark to look after our home and energetic Boxer for 3 weeks and everything went perfectly. Mark was great with our dog and our home was perfect when we returned. His skills with dogs and lovable personality made our pup fall in love with him and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worry. We HIGHLY recommend Mark for any of your pet needs. We also made a friend in the process! ***** 5stars!”

“Karylle did a great job babysitting my 3 year old Golden Retriever Benny. while I was away for 4 days. She sent pictures every day showing me how Benny was doing and responded promptly to all of my messages. When I got home the place was immaculate and Benny was a happy boy. I will definitely book Karylle next time I go away.”
“As always, so dependable and the animals are happy. Nicole has stayed with our two cats and our dog a number of times and I just think she’s fabulous. As we continue to request her, I don’t know how many reviews I can leave, but they’ll always be positive.”

“Stephanie did a great job of looking after our fur babies Kona and Sapporo. They were both happy and comfortable with her. She quickly recognized that Kona's chronic respiratory problem was flaring up and got him to the vet quickly for treatment and was able to give him insulin injections twice a day. We definitely recommend her especially if you have pets with special needs.”

Jenna was absolutely wonderful with Toffee! She was so attentive, sweet, and caring with him from start to finish. Her warm, cheerful, and friendly personality immediately put us at ease. Jenn was a wonderful pet sitter, and I highly recommend her. She is kind, professional, attentive, and genuinely loves animals—you can tell she really gets them. She kept us updated every day with photos and messages, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. We were able to truly enjoy our holiday knowing our home and our girls were in such caring hands. We came home to a clean home and two happy, relaxed cats. Jenn clearly took the time to understand their needs and cared for them as if they were her own. We wouldn’t hesitate to book Jenn again. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our girls!
Linda was an amazing pet sitter! She was incredibly friendly, caring, and made me feel completely at ease while I was away. It was easier to leave our dog and two cats for a week, knowing Alicia would be staying with them. Alicia is lovely. She is friendly, trustworthy, tidy, responsible, and, most importantly, loving to our pets. She came for pre stay walks with the dog, to help him feel comfortable with her. A very positive experience.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oakville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oakville walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oakville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
