“We had the pleasure of having Julie join us for a walk with our Labradoodle, Sadie. Julie will be sitting for us for the first time in a couple of weeks and we had asked her if she could come and visit with Sadie beforehand and take her for a walk so that Sadie could become more familiar and comfortable with her. Julie was more than accommodating, and Sadie loved her! She is very kind and friendly and ask lots of great questions and is very thoughtful to making sure we are all comfortable. We are still looking forward to having Julie spend more time with Sadie. Thanks Julie!”

“Things went great! I felt immediately comfortable with Amy! My dogs loved her as soon as they met her! She provided a detailed schedule and helped me navigate the app as it was my first time. I loved the pictures she sent! When I arrived home my dogs seemed very happy and content. Having her stay with them made travel much easier. I can’t wait to book her again and neither can my dogs- that’s what they would say if they could talk!!😉💕”

“Jeff was great in taking care of our 2 dogs in our home while we were away. He sent us photos every day and, most importantly, the dogs looked comfortable and enjoying their time with Jeff.”

“Mark is sensational. We trusted Mark to look after our home and energetic Boxer for 3 weeks and everything went perfectly. Mark was great with our dog and our home was perfect when we returned. His skills with dogs and lovable personality made our pup fall in love with him and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worry. We HIGHLY recommend Mark for any of your pet needs. We also made a friend in the process! ***** 5stars!”

About: My name is Liam Clark and I have loved animals all my life. They bring me joy when I'm feeling down. I enjoy walking, and caring for, all types of dogs and have even worked at a family owned pet store that dealt with puppies of small breeds. I was able to care for, clean and pamper them when I did have customers inside the store. The services I can offer are dog walker, house sitter and dropping in. I have walked numerous sizes and breeds of dogs ranging from Labrador retrievers to dachshunds and smaller breeds like Shih Tzu's. As for house sitting, I have experience using multiple entrance keys and buzzer codes, plus entering different homes to drop in and walk the dog. I am in the process of getting a police check done as I am 18. Currently Pet care is my schedule as I have been catsitting for multiple households throughout the last 2 years, preforming drop in care and live in care I normally meet with the family and their pets before the pet care to get to know each other and hopefully begin connecting with the pets. I follow the instructions given by the family in regards to food amounts and medicine needed.
“Thank you Ethan, from the first time I reached out, you replied back within 15 minutes and right away assured me that you were able to take care of Rosie. We met prior to the date and you were professional, caring and right away made Rosie feel comfortable. You sent me pictures and updates on her stay with you and were very attentive to replying to me if I checked in. Thank you again Ethan and Rosie will be back for sure!”

About: I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs and routine to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for. In a client’s home, I always aim to keep pets on their normal schedule, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions provided. I take the time to understand each pet’s personality — whether they’re energetic and playful or more relaxed and need a calm approach. During visits, I make sure pets get not just the essentials, but also attention, enrichment, and companionship. I’m attentive to their behaviour and will flag anything unusual right away. I also treat every home with the utmost respect — keeping things clean, secure, and exactly as I found them. Communication is very important to me, so I always provide updates and photos so owners feel reassured while they’re away. When it comes to dog walking, I prioritize safe, engaging, and structured walks based on each dog’s energy level and needs. Whether it’s a relaxed neighbourhood walk or a more active outing, I make sure dogs get the right balance of exercise and stimulation. I’m attentive on walks, always keeping dogs secure and aware of their surroundings, and I adjust pace and duration to keep them comfortable and happy. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I’ve structured my schedule to make sure I can provide consistent, reliable care throughout the week, especially within Burlington and Oakville. I work a hybrid schedule Monday to Friday (9–5), which allows me flexibility for morning, midday, and evening visits depending on the day. On my work-from-home days, I have more availability for check-ins and walks, and I’m able to give pets extra attention and time throughout the day. On weekends, I’m fully flexible and can provide extended care, longer walks, and additional visits. I prioritize keeping pets on their usual routine and always plan my schedule to ensure they receive the attention, exercise, and consistency they need. “Linda arrived when we agreed and took great care of our pup. She provided real time updates and even shared photos. She left our home clean and followed all care instructions. I would definitely hire her again!”

“Thank you thank you thank you! Really appreciate you looking after Bueller, even while he had to wear his cone. We were able to relax on our trip while you provided detailed updates and photos of Bueller.”

About: I am a caring and compassionate animal lover and have over 10 years of animal care taking under my belt. I have always been my family and friends go to person for a caretaker, dog walker, dog/cat sitter, feeder and or just going to give their fur babies some loving while they are away. I recently completed my Veterinary Assistant course where I can further go into a field that I truly love which is working with animals that give me so much joy. I believe that every animal should be loved and cared for and be treated as their own individual. I am currently just out of my first year of college and off for the summer and extremely excited to have so much time on my hands to play and take care of your adorable pups. For the most part I am pretty flexible with my timings and will work to the best of my abilities to fit your needs. I have one very friendly pup and am very involved with her life I feed her make sure she has adequate water at all times, trained her as a puppy, administer medications as needed at the appropriate timings, walking is frequent, play time is a must with me and light brushing to keep my pup well maintained. Overall the well being of mine and your pets are my top priority and I strive to make each interaction a positive one.
“Kaeley, was beyond and above my expectations, my very scared cat Max, was comfortable with her, which is the main concern of mine. I was quite pleased with her communication and pictures she sent me. She is very clean, quiet and respects your home...I highly recommend her..and would book her again ..”

“Anne did a fabulous job looking after Ollie. I arrived home after 7 days away to a happy and well cared for dog. My house was left by Anne in the same condition I left it for her. She kept me informed every day, of Ollie’s activities and sent me pictures of him so I could see for myself how he was. I would have Anne back when I travel again and would have no hesitation in recommending her.”

“Andrew stayed at our house with our 65lb dog while we were away for a weeks vacation. He regularly sent photos and texts so we knew how our big baby of a dog was doing, knowing how anxious he gets when we’re away. He also easily embraced our raw food/kibble feeding complications for our dog with ease. I highly recommend Andrew for your pet needs. He was responsible, consistent and dependable and our Doggo loved him.”

About: I’ve taken care of awkward dogs, affectionate dogs, chill dogs and I have experience with feeding them their special diets as instructed and following any specific potty time habits they may have to help them go potty. For example this one dog I dogsat would have to spin around in circles a few times before he went potty. I have experience staying overnight with dogs as well as cats. I have cats of my own as well and I’ve been around all kinds of pets my whole life so I’m very comfortable around most pets. I will be attending full time school in September but I will have time in between classes or before/after where I can schedule play dates and walks. When I enter the home I keep my energy calm. I try to get a read on whether the pet is comfortable with being approached. Then if they are, I hold out my hand so they can sniff it and familiarize themselves with my scent. I will follow any specific instructions there are so I can make sure they’re following their routine. I will play with them. A lot of the dogs I take care of enjoy tug o war or fetch. But with any pet, before play time I would want to have some time to just sit around them so they can get used to me before we start playing/walking. If possible I would prefer to set up a test meeting with pets and parents beforehand.
“Lucy stayed at our home while we were travelling out of the country. She was outstanding, took our dogs on long daily walks and hikes and provided updates along the way. Penn and Aretha warmed up to her right away, she has a calm energy around dogs and it was such peace of mind to know they were well taken care of. Highly recommend Lucy's service and we will be using her again!”

About: I’ve been a trusted dog sitter/walker for friends and family from ages 13-20. At 20, I got my own dog and we’ve been inseparable! I have trained her and got her socialized from a puppy age! I’m currently working part-time and studying for the LSAT! I’m very good at time management and will make sure that your pet gets undivided attention and extraordinary care! I can easily crate your dog if required, take them on walks, and interact with them in the way in which they are used! For example, if they are high-energy, I will make sure to reciprocate it.
“Sheila was amazing! Treated our fur babies as her own. We were so thankful to have found someone as caring attentive. We left for our holiday in pins and needles and Sheila quickly made us feel at ease. She’s patient and kind. We highly recommend”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burlington
Shannon is exactly what we're looking for in a dog sitter for our two fur babies. She was professional, flexible and enthusiastic about taking the best care of our pooches. We got lots of updates and photos while we were away and came home to our house in perfect order and our pooches happy and healthly. We would highly recommend Shannon to take incredible care of your dogs.

Sanchita was a great dog sitter for our 2 year old golden retriever! Communication with her was very easy and she stayed in touch with us throughout our time away. Our pup ended up having an upset stomach over the weekend, so Sanchita went above and beyond at taking her out throughout the hours of the night and early morning. We appreciated everything she did and would recommend her for anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy sitter!

Emily is amazing! She is super friendly with a lovely, sparkling personality. She has experience with older cats. My cat, Dipsy, is 16 and Emily took great care in following my care instructions. She stayed the whole week in our home, caring for Dipsy when we went on vacation. Dipsy warmed up quickly to Emily. He can be a picky eater, but he ate happily under Emily's gentle care.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burlington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burlington walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burlington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
