“Brittany took care of our 2 rescue dogs for a week and she was incredible. She was patient with them as they take a little time to get to know and trust people. She provided daily updates and stuck to their routine making us feel at ease! We would highly recommend her services. (Even though we want to keep her available for us...lol)”

“Third time's the charm! This was Linda's third visit with our rescue Jasper. Linda's patience and diligence in building trust has paid off with cuddles and ear scratches. We appreciate Linda's proactive communication and commitment to providing excellent care while establishing a relationship with our shy and particular girl. Linda continues to be very accommodating with schedule adjustments and keeps the house very tidy. We'll be booking with her again soon!”

“Kadin was incredible! My girls are my world and they've been through their fair share of trauma before I got them so I'm always super worried when I have to leave them behind. But Kadin delivered and more! I've never seen my girls in such high spirits upon return and if/when I have to travel again - Kadin will be the first person I call!”

“Dylan was available as a first time sitter at the last minute, and both our home and our pets were well taken care of. So glad he was available and would happily have him housesit in the future.”

“I went away for 10 days and just came back to find a clean home and my two boys (a dog and a cat) settled and well. I can’t thank Jesserene enough. I am truly grateful.”

About: Hi! I’m Katerina, a registered nurse with a lifelong love of animals. I grew up with dogs and have shared my home with cats for the past 15 years. Caring for animals has always been one of the greatest joys in my life. Sadly, I recently lost both of my beloved cats, and while my home feels a little quieter, I still have so much love and care to give. Whether your pet loves to play, cuddle, or simply have a calm, reassuring presence nearby, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I understand how important it is to trust someone with a member of your family, and I’ll treat your pets with the same patience, kindness, and attention that I gave my own. As a registered nurse, I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable following routines and administering medications if needed. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family! Schedule I’m currently off work until mid-October, which means I have plenty of flexibility and availability for pet sitting, drop-in visits, and walks throughout the week. Whether you need last-minute care or are planning ahead, I’m happy to work with your schedule. After I return to work, I’ll continue offering pet care around my nursing schedule and will keep my Rover calendar up to date so you always know my availability. I believe every pet deserves to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for like they are part of the family. When caring for pets in their own home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible, including feeding schedules, medications, playtime, walks, and plenty of attention and affection. I understand that pets are most comfortable in familiar surroundings, so I take the time to let them warm up to me and respect their individual personalities. I’ll always follow your instructions carefully and keep your home tidy and secure while you’re away. As a registered nurse, I’m detail-oriented, responsible, and comfortable following care plans and noticing small changes in behaviour or health. I’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is safe and loved.
“Danielle took exceptional care of our girls! She was communicative, sent us lots of updates and photos. We were confident our girls were in great hands! 🙌 highly recommended!!!”

“First time leaving our dog so I was a bit nervous. Sheila sent photos and kept in touch. She left our place spotless and was very respectful. Look forward to using her services again for the next vacation. Thanks Sheila!”

“The best! We had Double Duty Care look after our home and furry friend while we were away, and we couldn't be more thrilled with their service! From the moment they arrived for the meet & greet they exuded professionalism and warmth; making our family and dog feel at ease. They took incredible care of our home, leaving everything spotless. Our senior dog was clearly well-loved and attended to, as she was happy and healthy upon our return. Michelle and Des provided regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. We truly appreciated their attention to detail and genuine affection for animals. It's evident that they are passionate about what they do. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable and caring pet (and house) sitters. We will definitely be hiring them again for our next trip!”
About: I love dogs. So much. But with my 12 hour shift schedule, my small apartment, and my ornary cat it wouldn't be fair to a dog. So instead I'd love to go out and walk your dog! It will give you dog a fun walk and fulfill my daily doggie interaction requirement to be happy. So we're both doing each other a service! I love all animals l, so if you need me to come over and watch your loved one I would be more than delighted to do so. Will follow all instructions to a tee! My schedule with 12 hour shifts maker it hard to have a consistent schedule. But I am free every weekend and some days during the week. If I am free and booked I will be there. I will follow all instructions and any requirements for your pet. If I ever think it's something I can't do I will not accept. Your pets safety and well-being is my number one priority.
“Bradley was great with Ozzy, and gave me perfect peace of mind to enjoy a family wedding without worrying . Bradley let me know when he had arrived to be with Ozzy and updates during the stay. We were both very happy.”

“Tracey took amazing care of our 2 Boston Terriers for a week, she came and stayed at our house. Our house was exactly how we left it (maybe cleaner), she even took out the garbage even though we did not expect it. We received daily updates. Our one dog needed ointment applied and Tracey was more then happy to do it. Our dogs were happy all week and sad to see Tracey leave when we got home. We highly recommend Tracey.”

“Holly was amazing!! She communicated with us everyday sending lots of photos and made sure our dog Lucy was getting lots of walks. Highly recommend her for anybody looking for a sitter who truly cares about your pets as if they were her own. Will definitely be using Holly in the future!”

“Abigail was absolutely amazing! She took special care of both our dogs, even with all their unique individual needs. She sent lots of photos, and frequent updates, and you could tell both dogs felt very loved”
“Jasmine was on time and communicated well before and during booking which made things very easy. She came to meet our dogs and cat before her two night stay. Jasmine also gave updates along with pictures during her stay. We would recommend Jasmine’s services.”

“Sanchita was amazing. Responded in short notice, went above and beyond and made the stay so perfect. We got sent photos all day and we knew exactly what she was doing with our anxiety dog who has separation anxiety. She is amazing and would recommend her to anyone and hope to definitely use her service again. We cannot say enough good things.”

About: I’ve had dogs since I was a little kid, and have mainly taken care of my own pets (one cat and one dog) for the past couple years. This includes, but not limited to, walks, feeding, grooming and bathing, play time, and all the love and cuddles. I know i may be new to rover, but i can promise if you take a chance on my you will not be disappointed! I’m a part time worker with a very flexible schedule who’s wanted to help pet parents while trying to save up money for collage in the winter. In a clients home, I care for the dog and/or cat, making sure to follow there specific needs, and making sure the pet is happy and healthy, while keeping the house clean and tidy.
About: I’ve been a dog parent for 9 years to Pearl (Jindo–Heeler mix) and Lucky (Havanese). I’m warm, calm, and safety-first. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each dog’s personality and what helps them feel secure on walks. I’m comfortable with smart/stubborn working breeds, and I’m also happy to do slow-paced, enrichment-focused walks for senior dogs. With reactive dogs, I focus on steady handling, reading body language, and not forcing greetings. To ensure everyone feels comfortable, meet-and-greets are a must. I’ve completed the Red Cross online First Aid for Dogs and Cats course, and I’m taking in-person Pet First Aid with the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA in August. I’ve also volunteered with Hamilton Streetcats (TNR for stray cats/kittens). Pet care fits naturally into my week. I’m available Monday to Friday and I serve all of Hamilton, Ontario. I’m reliable, punctual, and big on clear communication, so you’ll always know what time I’m arriving and how the walk went. I love building trust with both pets and people, especially with regular weekly walks. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I require a meet-and-greet before booking so I can learn your dog’s routine, cues, and any triggers. On walks, I use secure leash handling, stay aware of surroundings, and keep a respectful distance from unfamiliar dogs when needed (especially for reactive or nervous pups). I don’t force greetings, and I always follow your instructions closely. You’ll receive updates and photos/Rover Card notes so you know exactly how the walk went.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hamilton
Jesserene treated our two dogs amazingly. She followed all our instructions and they seem so well cared for. She would send us pictures and updates frequently which we loved so much. We would definitely hire her to look after our dogs again! We recommend her services whole heartedly :)

Melina was fantastic with our two dogs. We have a senior dog and a puppy and Melina was so responsive to their individual needs. She provided regular updates and photos, and left our house spotless! We will definitely rebook with Melina for our next trip. Highly recommend!

Orzala went above and beyond while watching our dog. We had a wonderful experience throughout the weekend getting photos and updates periodically. Our dog Melody loved hanging out with her! I would recommend Orzala to anyone who is looking for a kind, loving person who is going to have so much fun hanging out with your furry friend!

We can’t say enough good things about Sanchita. She stayed at our house for 10 days to look after our two cats, and she was by far the best cat sitter we’ve ever had. We usually spend our vacations worrying about our cats, but this was the first trip where we truly didn’t have to. She followed all of our instructions, sent daily updates with pictures and videos, and it was clear our cats loved having her there. Seeing how relaxed and affectionate they were with her gave us so much peace of mind. She gave them lots of attention, played with them every day, and treated them like they were her own. We came home to two happy cats and a house that was just as we left it. We’d recommend Sanchita to anyone looking for someone they can completely trust with their pets, and we’d happily book her again.

Sheila is a fantastic house sitter and always takes such great care of our pets. She goes above and beyond to ensure that we know everyone is well taken care of. I really appreciate the daily updates and pictures. Sheila also leaves the house cleaner than when I left it! 😊

Brittany was amazing with our pets. She gave detailed updates every day and most times multiple times which was amazing. We left her with detailed notes and she went above and beyond what we had hoped for. We will definitely be booking with Brittany in the future!

This was our first time ever leaving our puppy overnight with someone in our home, and she made the entire experience so comfortable and stress-free. She was kind, calm, reliable, and absolutely wonderful with Mac. We came home to a happy, well-loved pup and couldn’t be more grateful. Highly recommend!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hamilton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hamilton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hamilton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 83% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
