“Shelly and her family were phenomenal dog sitters! So warm and inviting from the initial meeting and so attentive to our puppy’s needs. We have a very high energy, high needs 7 month old border collie lab mix (💀) and the pictures she sent us of him on a walk floored us because we rarely see him looking so peaceful. Would highly recommend Shelly to anyone looking for a trusted and experienced dog sitter.”

“Linda has been absolutely fantastic with my fur baby! She was very attentive to her. She provided multiple updates throughout the day and my Bella was so excited to go back the next day! Linda was quick and easy to communicate with and eased MY separation anxiety let alone my baby’s. I am so grateful she was able to assist me last minute. The entire experience was easy and took a massive weight off my shoulders. Thank You Linda! 🐾”

“Corrina and Joel were great sitters for our Xena while we visited Hamilton, felt comfortable leaving her there while we went about our business in town! Xena seemed to be perfectly happy hanging out with them and was a big relief for us.”

“Jessica was AMAZING with Feeny! We felt super comfortable and informed about how he was doing throughout the day. She sent lots of photos and updates and we will definitely be booking with her again ☺️”

About: I’ve cared for animals my whole life, including seniors, special needs, and shy pets. My home was always the safe place for rescues and animals in need. I’m comfortable with dogs, cats, and small pets (fish, mice, rabbits, hamsters). I specialize in **senior and other sensitive pet care** with gentle handling, patience, and attention to routines to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I’m home most of the time, which means your pet won’t be left alone for long stretches. They’ll get consistent care, company, and attention throughout the day. I live with 2 cats (a cautious, but curious rescue and a super friendly kittie). My space is large enough to separate pets if needed, so your pet can feel safe and comfortable. I’ll follow your routines for feeding, walks, and play. If you prefer in-home cat visits, I can stay longer to keep them company—even if it’s just quietly reading so they feel less alone.
“Seema was absolutely wonderful with Majnu. She was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely understood his needs, which meant a lot to me. She gave me regular updates that kept me at ease and took such thoughtful care of him throughout. I could tell Majnu was comfortable and happy with her. I would 100% recommend Seema to anyone looking for a trustworthy, loving pet sitter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Majnu with her again.”

“Shauna, David and Kevin (their cavapoo) are wonderful hosts for my dog, Kitsune. Kitsune is so excited to see them that she pulls really, really hard on the leash to get there faster. Shauna and David share lovely photos both of my dog by herself, and playing with Kevin. I think of this as more of a “play date” than doggy daycare.”

“When I leave Shadow with Lana and Arthur he has such a lovely time there. Both Lana and Arthur are very knowledgeable about dogs and you can see that they both have so much love for these animals. They are kind, caring and affectionate and make sure that Shadow feels at home. Shadow gets to play with Jet their own dog and has plenty of healthy interaction. I feel very happy to have found such a loving couple who take care of Shadow like their own and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a healthy and loving place to board their pet.”

“Shadi is a friendly, well communicating young lady. Demonstrates to have a natural liking for canines and appears competent and responsible as well. Her husband may also be present in helping out if need be. Consider their services in Hamilton!”

“Kerri-Lynn was amazing with my dog. She sent updates and pictures to let me know how my pup was doing. She was also very nice and patient. Nyxie had a great time and she came home happy and tired from all her fun.”

“Joo Yeon took great care of my dog. Nyxie had a great time playing with her dogs and she was happily tired when I picked her up. I also received updates and lots of pictures as well.”

About: Friends and neighbours rely on me to care for their pets. My kids (9 + 6) also love to help provide love and care to the pets in our life. We currently dog sit for my friend’s floofy sheepadoodle in our home multiple times a year. We walk many neighbours dogs, and cat sit when they are away. I have also been a cat owner for most of my adult life. I am self employed and work from home therefore I have an extremely flexible schedule. I don’t have any of my own 4 legged pals right now as my oldest son plays rep sports throughout the year (hockey and baseball) which brings us on the road a lot for tournaments and travel games. It wouldn’t be appropriate to get our own family pet right now but we would LOVE to care for yours when we are home ♥️. If you are comfortable, we can also bring your dog to the ball park to enjoy some fresh air and extra cuddles. We often dog sit for friends at my home and are relied upon for pet sitting for family and friends at their home as well! We would love to meet you! I have a 4 level back split with a fully fenced yard on the central Hamilton mountain. My home is totally pet friendly although I don’t have any furry pets of my own presently (only tropical fish and betas 🙃). I have 2 young energetic kids who love animals and would be over the moon to help care for your fur babes!
“Shannon was amazing! She was able to accommodate me super last minute! She was super friendly and easy to talk to. She was very good with my dog. I could tell when I picked him up that he was well taken care of and had lots of fun! I will definitely be using her services again and I highly recommend you do to!! She treats your dog just like her own :)”

About: All pets are welcome in our home! Having taken care of dogs and cats, we’re confident we can make your pet feel right at home 🥰 We work from home full-time, which means your pet will rarely be left alone and will receive constant supervision, care, and companionship throughout the day. We can closely monitor their needs, maintain their routine, provide regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention to ensure they feel comfortable and safe while you're away. Our dog and cats are great and love each other. Our cats are kind and playful, while our dog is very gentle. They won’t scratch, bite, or bark/hiss. If you prefer your pet to not interact with our pets, we can have them in a separate room in our house. Regardless, your pet will be cared for and loved by us as if they were our own 🥰

Lina is incredibly kind and patient with our stubborn pup. From the moment we met her, she welcomed Lucky into her home with joy. It is evident that Lina loves dogs, she is respectful of our dog’s nature and needs. She will send updates and photos throughout the day. I would highly recommend Lina to look after your pup.

Sarah did a great job taking care of Ruby Sue! She listened to everything we had to share about Ruby and made sure she created a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment for her. We got updates throughout the day as requested, and Ruby came home a very tired and happy girl! I highly recommend her and will use Sarah’s services again!

There was an instant connection between Benny and Oliver with Corrina and Joel. Communication was very easy and took no time to set up doggy day care. Really enjoy new feature of the walks and that they peed and pooped. Benny and Oliver will want to visit again. Thank you so much for the care given to them.
Morgan was absolutely amazing!! My request was super last minute, and she responded almost immediately, which I truly appreciated. From the start, she was kind, attentive, and clearly very willing to make sure Ramona, my dog, was well taken care of. She stayed in constant contact with me throughout the stay, sending tons of pictures and updates. She also asked thoughtful questions whenever she had any doubts, just to make sure Ramona would be as comfortable and happy as possible. That gave me so much peace of mind. Morgan is caring, responsible, and genuinely loves what she does. I would 100% trust her with Ramona again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving sitter. Thank you, Morgan!

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hamilton commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
