“Kitsune had a great time with Rie and Masahiro. She liked them right away - you can tell that they love dogs. They took very good time with her, and sent lots of pictures and video. We look forward to the next time Kitsune stays with them.”

“Janice took very good care of our Archey. It was easy to leave him with Janice and now I know I would leave Archey with her in the future. We loved the updates and pictures throughout the day even though she only had him for 12 hours. We appreciated her care and community.”

“Our puppy had a great time with Priyanka! She made him feel comfortable and welcome right away and gave consistent updates throughout the day. I know Zeppelin would love to stay with her again!”

“Paisley felt at home with Lina immediately. This was the first time he'd stayed with a non-family member and there were no concerns. He was happy each morning to go see Lina and Harlem :)”

“Linda has been absolutely fantastic with my fur baby! She was very attentive to her. She provided multiple updates throughout the day and my Bella was so excited to go back the next day! Linda was quick and easy to communicate with and eased MY separation anxiety let alone my baby’s. I am so grateful she was able to assist me last minute. The entire experience was easy and took a massive weight off my shoulders. Thank You Linda! 🐾”

“Shelly and her family were phenomenal dog sitters! So warm and inviting from the initial meeting and so attentive to our puppy’s needs. We have a very high energy, high needs 7 month old border collie lab mix (💀) and the pictures she sent us of him on a walk floored us because we rarely see him looking so peaceful. Would highly recommend Shelly to anyone looking for a trusted and experienced dog sitter.”

“Our Winston loves Chetan and his farm. It’s a blessing to have him available in our area. There is lots of room for him to run and plenty of stimulation. He comes home tired and content. A 5 star experience”

“Shauna, David and Kevin (their cavapoo) are wonderful hosts for my dog, Kitsune. Kitsune is so excited to see them that she pulls really, really hard on the leash to get there faster. Shauna and David share lovely photos both of my dog by herself, and playing with Kevin. I think of this as more of a “play date” than doggy daycare.”

“Seema was absolutely wonderful with Majnu. She was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely understood his needs, which meant a lot to me. She gave me regular updates that kept me at ease and took such thoughtful care of him throughout. I could tell Majnu was comfortable and happy with her. I would 100% recommend Seema to anyone looking for a trustworthy, loving pet sitter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Majnu with her again.”

About: I've had dogs in my life ever since I was a kid! I love them more than anything. I now have a dog of my own and often dog sit for all my family members. I work from home so I will always be available for play time and walks! My hours usually end pretty early for longer walks and hikes if needed. I have a calm and affectionate pup for company! She's never met another dog that she doesn't get along with. Puppy friends for the win!
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with two dogs and currently have three cats who live with my mom. My boyfriend also grew up with dogs and cats and currently has a dog and a cat who live with his parents. We don’t have any pets living in our home right now. Although we’ve considered adopting, we realized Rover is a wonderful opportunity for us to spend time with animals, care for them, and give them the same love and attention we’ve always given our own pets. 🐾❤️ Our routine is calm and mostly home-based. My boyfriend works part-time, I’m currently on vacation from college and spend most of my time at home, and my dad has a very flexible schedule that allows him to be home often throughout the day. With our different schedules, there is almost always someone around to give your pet company, walks, attention, and lots of love. 🐾❤️ We have a fully fenced backyard, so dogs can safely enjoy some outdoor time without the risk of wandering off. Oscar and my dad are also comfortable handling larger dogs and have experience caring for them. When caring for pets in a client’s home, we always follow their usual rules, routines, and preferences as closely as possible. Our goal is to keep everything familiar so your pet feels safe, comfortable, and relaxed with us. 🐾❤️
About: I have always loved dogs. While living in Mexico I volunteered at an animal shelter and I fostered many dogs and cats until they found their forever homes. We adopted two of these Mexican street dogs and they travelled to live with me and my family in Portugal and Scotland before we all moved back to Canada. In Portugal I also volunteered at a dog shelter spending Sunday's caring for stray dogs. I work 10 minutes from my home and can come home to check on and give a walk and bathroom break throughout the day. I am home by 4:00 during the week and am home on the weekend. Other family members would also be around to keep your dog company. We have a fenced backyard space. There are plenty of parks and walking trails close by. Your dog would feel like part of the family!
“Jessica was AMAZING with Feeny! We felt super comfortable and informed about how he was doing throughout the day. She sent lots of photos and updates and we will definitely be booking with her again ☺️”

- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)

- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Ancaster commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
