We can't thank Melanie and her husband enough for taking such great care of Obie, our 1.5-year-old Maltipoo, while we were off getting married. From the start, they were so kind and attentive to him and his preferences and were great at sending us regular updates, which gave us peace of mind during such a hectic time. It was clear that Obie felt right at home with them, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to them again—Melanie and her husband were absolutely amazing!

What can I say other than a fabulous care giver. Her two dogs bonded with my French bulldog and shipoo. They followed her around, they slept in her bed with her doggies. I have photos of them playing with my doggies. All four dogs had personalities that one matched one doggie of hers and same with the other. My dogs showed happiness to see me on pick up but my shipoo ran to me and back to Kelley. I saw them playing with their own toys I brought. Really the transition was not far off by how I take care of them. It was a pairing made in heaven. My doggies were on vacation too! Kelley deeply cared for my dogs welfare. So from one nurse (me), to another retired nurse, Kelley, you win the award of the year for best care. I bough to you. Bravo. Hope to see you again. Xoxo

Freddo had a wonderful stay, and we’re really grateful for the care and attention you gave him. Thank you for being so patient with his picky eating habits and making sure he was comfortable with his meals. We also really appreciated the extra walks, playtime, and giving him access around the house so he could feel at home. The regular updates and photos gave us great peace of mind while we were away, and it was clear he was happy and well looked after. He came back relaxed and in great spirits, which says everything. We’d absolutely be happy to have Freddo stay with you again. Thank you again for treating him like family

Matt was wonderful with our very “high maintenance” dog: anxious and bad eating habits. His patience and caring went a long way to making our dog’s stay comfortable under the circumstances. Filiz Ferenczy

Janice was super with our cat! She gave her some time outside, which Jackie loves. She made herself right at home and cuddled with Janice. From the pictures she sent us, we could tell that she felt very comfortable with her. Janice gave her the medication she needs, and looked after her meal requirements. We have full confidence in bringing Jackie back for another visit.

I’ve had the good fortune to find Jayna and Lyndon as dog sitters for my dogs, Gordon and Douglas. I met them a few years ago and they have been awesome sitters. They are very accommodating. One of my dogs is a rescue and he is always tentative when I put him in the car. Whenever he sees Jayna and Lyndon, he is happy, wags his tail. He’s always happy to stay with them. Thanks again!

Sandra took great care of our dog, Coco. She was very flexible with pickup and drop off timing which ensured we were not rushed on the way back home from our trip. She provided plenty of updates including photos of Coco; this gave us the peace of mind that Coco was in great company. We will definitely reach out to Sandra again if we’re traveling across the border and need a sitter in Hamilton.

About: I've loved dogs (and really all furry animals) since I was a little girl. I read dog books and memorized the different breeds. I plastered my walls with dog posters. When my family went camping, my longing for a dog of my own always got even stronger, as I thought how wonderful it would be to walk a dog around the campground. I posted marker-drawn signs on our site post asking, "May I walk your dog?", and was delighted when other campers indeed allowed me to walk their dogs! Eventually I did get a dog, and another. My last dog was Peppi, a tiny schnorkie-poo that I raised from puppy-hood who lived to be 16.5 years old. Peppi died in early 2020. I also grew up with and have had and cared for cats. Recently, I've become a foster parent for a dog rescue, and as part of this process, completed online training on topics of dog behaviour, body language, and training. I still love dogs, and I love going on walks. So just as I did as a little kid on the campground, I'm asking, "May I walk your dog?" I'm a therapist who works from home, so I have time around sessions to enjoy walks or drop-ins with dog(s) in my area! I also offer doggy daycare and boarding in my home, for small, well-behaved dogs only (i.e., If your dog is the type that can relax quietly while I'm doing a client session here or there, we may be a good fit!). For daycare or boarding dogs, I'm happy to offer multiple walks a day, playtime in the yard, and/or just allow them to relax in my home. Whatever they/you prefer! I have a fenced yard your dog can enjoy (always supervised!). Supplies (crate, etc.) will need to be provided for doggy daycare and boarding stays. I currently have no pets of my own, so your dog will have all the attention and snuggles to themselves!

About: I grew up with dogs of all sizes, from Chihuahuas to Golden Retrievers. Years of living with more sensitive family dogs taught me to read body language closely, and I bring that same attentiveness to every walk and play session. I'll always work to earn your pet's trust and make sure they feel safe and comfortable in my care! I work from home with flexible hours, and pet care fits naturally into my day alongside my own cat. I'm used to building routines around a pet's needs, so incorporating yours is a straightforward task. Cats boarding in my home get their own dedicated space until they're ready to explore and meet Nuri (my cat) on their own terms. Dogs have the run of the place, with regular outdoor potty breaks throughout the day. All pets are welcome on the bed/any furniture. During drop-in visits, I'm happy to give them my full, undivided attention for the entire visit (if they want it, that is).

About: I’ve taken care of animals, included long term overnight stay since my teenage years. I’m an animal lover through in through, pets are the best I have a flexible remote job, and therefore I am available any time of day with sufficient notice for walks or pop ins, day and night. Having cats of my own, my house is already pet friendly. I have nearby dog parks and I am willing to go on long walks to keep your pet happy.

We had a wonderful experience! Barbara was so friendly, warm, and welcoming. She even met with us in advance of our booking, which gave us so much peace of mind considering this was our first time using Rover. During the 5 days our dog Franklin was with her, Barb communicated often and sent updates, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, our dog seemed to have a great time! Would definitely recommend and book again.

This was my first time booking with Viktoriya, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! My two young Frenchies had an amazing time — they came back happy, calm, and clearly well cared for. Viktoriya was incredibly punctual and professional, and I really appreciated the updates she sent while I was away. It made such a difference knowing they were in good hands. I’ll definitely be rebooking with her in the near future!

  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
