Abigail was my first Rover experience & I couldn’t have asked for a better one! She was such a great sitter for my dog when we were out of town for a wedding. I was able to enjoy the wedding knowing he was in the comfort of his own home getting cuddles. We absolutely plan on using her again!!

Brittany took care of our 2 rescue dogs for a week and she was incredible. She was patient with them as they take a little time to get to know and trust people. She provided daily updates and stuck to their routine making us feel at ease! We would highly recommend her services. (Even though we want to keep her available for us...lol)

About: I've taken care of the family pets from puppy age all the way through to seniors since I was a kid. We always had dogs and rabbits growing up, and I love the company of pets and to entertain them. I have a huge soft spot for feline friends! I take special care learning how to approach and respect animals, nervous animals tend to feel safe around me which is awesome and a testament to my character and learning. I work full time so have weekends free at the moment, specifically Saturday and Sunday. I can do evenings during the week and usually have a day wfh every week. When I had my own pets I would prioritise them and ensure they had everything they needed. I ensure that escape artists are safe and can't get out, I also am clued up on what most pets should and shouldn't eat! Also aware of when pets are appearing unwell.

Phanie has been awesome with our two cats for a house sitting. One of our cat unexpectedly requested medical care. She did exactly what was needed and she probably saved the life of our cat. She also took care of our house and left everything perfectly clean. Phanie is a gem and I will definitively asked her again to take care of my cats when I travel. Phanie is fully reliable and I highly recommend her.

I couldn't have asked for a better person to care for my pets and in fact my pets loved him so much I was worried when I got home they wouldn't have missed me at all. Brandon cared for them and followed the instructions for the house impeccably. Communication was clear and timely and he even helped me out when my flight was delayed. I would use Brandon a thousand percent again.

It’s my first time leaving my pets (2 dogs and 1 cat) to a non family member for a very long period of time. Me and my husband went to see family and got married in the US and were away for about 15 days. Lisa and her husband Rob gave many frequent updates! She was very communicative and when some surprises arose, she was very quick to act. She even helped take the garbage out for the 2 weeks we were away. When we came back home, it was very clean and tidy! And the fur babies are all happy and healthy! My fur babies love her so much. She even was able to brush our cat’s fur!! He used to hate having it brushed. I can go on and on, but I’m overall so happy that our pets were very well loved and taken care of while we were away! I highly recommend her! And I’d gladly rebook her for any future trips!

Rachael was amazing! Our dogs warmed up to her quickly and seemed well taken care of over the weekend. Rachael sent updates on both the dogs and our house (we had a water leak that she noticed right away and she took all the appropriate steps to mitigate any further water damage until we got home). Thank you again Rachael!!

About: Dogs have been my favorite kind of people for as long as I can remember. I shared some of my life with my beagle, Scout (queen of sniffing adventures and professional cuddle expert) for many years, and I’ve been hooked on canine companionship ever since. I’ve cared for dogs big and small, shy and bouncy, healthy and medically fragile, and I pride myself on being the human they feel safe with. Whether it’s long walks, belly rub marathons, or silly playtime on the floor, I’m all in. My goal? A happy, tail-wagging pup who can’t wait to see me again. I am available for walks, drop-ins, and boarding on occasion. Weekends or weeknights. I can also take your dog to the dog park if that is preferred. My vehicle is accommodating for pups of all sizes. When caring for pets, safety and trust are my top priorities. I always follow the routines and rules set by each pet parent, from feeding schedules to walk routes, to make sure pets feel secure and comfortable. I keep a close eye on their body language and needs, and I’m mindful of safe spaces for them to rest and relax. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I create a calm, loving environment where pets are treated like family (plenty of affection, play, and attention, with their well-being always first).

Sam house sat and cared for my zoo - my three cats, along with my four foster kittens, so quite a busy household and it was such a relief knowing I didn’t have to worry, they were so well cared for by Sam. Even my more nervous girl didn’t take long to come around. Sam followed all of my instructions, and sent me plenty of updates and photos/videos throughout each day. All my kitties got lots of snuggles and pets, it was so nice to see them curled up with her. As a sitter myself, I would absolutely recommend her and will happily have Sam care for my kitties again! Thank you again ❤️

FAQs for House Sitting - Ancaster

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ancaster on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,215 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ancaster. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ancaster maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ancaster walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ancaster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
