We scheduled Mary last week to walk our dog Boots who can be a bit skiiddish when it comes to loud noises. She really took the time to listen and understand any challenges which comes from experience. This made us feel comfortable and we would recommend Mary for anyone looking for help with their pet care needs.

About: I have always loved dogs. While living in Mexico I volunteered at an animal shelter and I fostered many dogs and cats until they found their forever homes. We adopted two of these Mexican street dogs and they travelled to live with me and my family in Portugal and Scotland before we all moved back to Canada. In Portugal I also volunteered at a dog shelter spending Sunday's caring for stray dogs. I work 10 minutes from my home and can come home to check on and give a walk and bathroom break throughout the day. I am home by 4:00 during the week and am home on the weekend. Other family members would also be around to keep your dog company. We have a fenced backyard space. There are plenty of parks and walking trails close by. Your dog would feel like part of the family!

About: Lover of all types of animals. I grew up on a farm, so I have experience caring for all types of animals since I was young. Dogs and cats, livestock, and small pets. I have a dog, a cat, and 2 rats of my own. I’ve spent the last few years dog sitting for family friends, and I have personal experience with small animal care. I am passionate about the welfare of all animals, and I would be honoured to be trusted with the care of your fur babies. I work part time on the weekends, so I am free all week for pet care. If you book with me during the weekend, the longest your pet will spend alone is 4-6 hours. I have experience caring for various types of pets with many different routines and requirements. I adapt well to the pet’s routine, and I can provide free care for plants or fish while in the home. I have experience administering medication to many types of animals, and I am happy to provide frequent updates on your pets care if you would like.

About: I’ve cared for pets of many different species from large and small dogs to cats, bunnies, and fish since I was 10 years old. Because of this, I'm comfortable with handling different temperaments, routines, and specialized care needs! While I love pets of all shapes and sizes, I have more experience with larger breeds, but I thrive with low to medium energy dogs. That said, I grew up with a Doberman, a Belgian Malinois, and a French Mastiff. I am very familiar with both high-drive breeds and gentle giants. I actually formed the strongest bond with my French Mastiff over our shared love of sleeping! As I’m not in school at the moment I currently have an open and highly flexible schedule, I can adapt to your pet's routine and needs. My main commitment outside of pet sitting is caring for my own pets at home, my cat and three bunnies! Because my time is so flexible, I can offer dedicated time, attentive care, and flexible drop-in or sitting hours. I prioritize communication, safety, and respect for your home! I’ll send frequent photo and video updates so you know your pet is thriving. Before any booking, I make sure to write down all key details, including your pet's routine, feeding instructions, emergency contacts, and household rules so everything runs smoothly!

About: I’ve been lucky to be the favourite “uncle” to four amazing dogs over the years: two playful Black Labs and two lovable Rhodesian Ridgebacks, along with plenty of experience caring for puppies and dogs of all sizes. Being around dogs has always been something I genuinely love, and I understand that every dog has their own unique personality, energy level, and needs. Whether your dog enjoys long walks and lots of playtime, needs extra patience while adjusting to a new routine, or simply wants some companionship and attention, I’m happy to provide care that makes them feel comfortable and happy. I take the time to get to know each dog individually and make sure they receive the attention and care they deserve. I know how important it is to feel confident leaving your furry friend with someone else, which is why I’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can see how your dog is doing while you’re away. Your pup will be treated with the same love, patience, and care I would give my own. I have a flexible schedule as I'm studying part-time in graduate school for psychotherapy from home throughout the week, which gives me plenty of time to devote to pet care. Living in a house with lots of space, I'm able to give your dog the attention and exercise they need while you're away. Whether it's a quick walk, playtime, or just some cozy downtime, I’m happy to work around your pet’s needs and your schedule! When caring for your pet, my top priorities are safety, trust, and making sure they feel comfortable and cared for in their environment. I understand that leaving your pet in someone else’s care is a big responsibility, and I want you to feel confident knowing they are in good hands. I take the time to learn your pet’s routine, personality, and any specific needs they may have, whether that includes feeding schedules, exercise preferences, medications, or their favourite ways to relax. Communication is extremely important to me, which is why I provide regular updates, photos, and check-ins so you always know how your pet is doing. I treat every pet and home with the same respect, patience, and attention to detail that I would expect for my own.

About: From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for animals. With experience working as a dog walker, pet sitter, pet groomer and working at a veterinary hospital. I have over 15 years experience in working with various animals, specifically dogs and horses. I’m currently working part-time, and I am looking to fill my time helping make sure dogs in my community get their walks in. I love taking my own dog for walks and play time, and finding ways to fill our cup together. I always love making sure my dogs and other animals I look after are well cared for with quality time and cuddles. It’s important they get lots of stimulation through toys, walks, and one-on-one time.

About: Friends and neighbours rely on me to care for their pets. My kids (9 + 6) also love to help provide love and care to the pets in our life. We currently dog sit for my friend’s floofy sheepadoodle in our home multiple times a year. We walk many neighbours dogs, and cat sit when they are away. I have also been a cat owner for most of my adult life. I am self employed and work from home therefore I have an extremely flexible schedule. I don’t have any of my own 4 legged pals right now as my oldest son plays rep sports throughout the year (hockey and baseball) which brings us on the road a lot for tournaments and travel games. It wouldn’t be appropriate to get our own family pet right now but we would LOVE to care for yours when we are home ♥️. If you are comfortable, we can also bring your dog to the ball park to enjoy some fresh air and extra cuddles. We often dog sit for friends at my home and are relied upon for pet sitting for family and friends at their home as well! We would love to meet you! I have a 4 level back split with a fully fenced yard on the central Hamilton mountain. My home is totally pet friendly although I don’t have any furry pets of my own presently (only tropical fish and betas 🙃). I have 2 young energetic kids who love animals and would be over the moon to help care for your fur babes!

Jonathan was great! He's reliable, flexible, and took the time to play with Josie at our house on a really cold day when she didn't want to go for a longer walk. He takes pictures and provides updates too, which is always nice. We will certainly continue to book with him and would highly recommend him to others looking for a dog-walker.

About: I grew up with pets and love taking care of them. My first pet Barney was my best friend growing up. We would play every day and I would feed her, brush and bathe her and clean her litter. She was a special part of the family for 16 years. My next pet Aiden was a very special part of my life. I always took good care of him and he was a real comfort to me when I was feeling down. I had another pet Rambo who just recently passed. She was almost 17 years old. I saved her because nobody wanted her and we always had a special bond. I appreciate their unique personalities. I am very caring and gentle. I currently work for Vogue Models & Talent which is based in Hamilton, Toronto and Vancouver. It's a fun and creative job and I enjoy it very much. I have a fenced in yard and my house is very clean and safe. I always keep my eye on the pets I care for.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ancaster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 81% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
