“Christina was great! She took good care of my senior pet, and kept our house in good order while we were aware. She was good with communications, letting me know when she arrived and keeping me updated on my dog. She was also fairly flexible, which was nice as we were travelling in some winter weather.”

“Robyn was fantastic! She provided excellent care for our two Dobermans! She communicated well before and during our booking and was very mindful and attentive to the dogs schedule and needs. We would not hesitate to book Robyn again!”

“Taylor took the best care of our boy during our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter! She went above and beyond with our care instructions and showered our boy with love - we felt so comfortable and worry-free during our trip with her service! We also got plenty of detailed updates ( photos and videos)! We'll definitely be hiring Taylor on the regular for Farley - he's made a new BFF that spoils and cares for him like family. Thank you Taylor!!”

“Raylene was so lovely! She looked after our 3 cats and 2 dogs for an overnight stay. She made us feel so comfortable leaving our fur babies in her care. Sending us pictures and updates with how everyone was doing throughout her stay. Our pets were safe and happy the whole time. Even our usually shy cat came out of his hiding spot to come say hello and get some snuggles. Will be booking again for future care. THANK YOU RAYLENE!!!!”

“Kristen was a 10/10 house sitter for us. We felt comfortable right off the bat with the level of detailed questions and genuine care towards our 4 animals. The photos, messages and care for our home/animals while we were away was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Kristen & will definitely be booking again!”

“Kristina took great care of our dog Shiloh and our house while we were away for a week. She sent updates and pictures and we were very happy to know that Shiloh was well looked after and loved. We would recommend Kristina to anyone and we will definitely use her services in the future.”

“Aaqilah provided in house sitting for my two wiener dogs, and she was outstanding. She provided updates and photos several times a day which I really appreciated. She was attentive to their regular routines to ensure they were comfortable with mom and dad away. She left the house in immaculate condition for when we returned. Five stars all around! I would definitely use Aaqilah again.”

“Alexis was great with our boy and our house! She really spoiled him and gave him plenty of walks and outside time. Communication was excellent and we were kept in the loop throughout our vacation. When we got home, the house was exactly how we left it! We were grateful to have Alexis take care of our boy while we were away and we will certainly re-book for our next vacation! She did a wonderful job and we highly recommend her :)”

“Tracy is absolutely wonderful. Our girls loved her, and she loved them. Sent us photos and videos of our babies of all the fun they were having together, and the cuddles too. Ellie who gets anxiety had no issues with it while we were away. Macy who is very shy with everyone just loved Tracy. Tracy hand fed Macy when she was trying to go on a hunger strike the 1st night. Annabel enjoyed walking and just hanging around outside like an old lady does. Our house was exactly the way we left it with a the addition of a glass of wildflowers on our island. Tracy is awesome. Never distracted with worry, during our our family time away.”
“Danielle was just superb with looking after Harry he really must have enjoyed her company as he didn’t complain (as he usually does) when we come home from travels. The house was kept wonderfully and she did more than I had expected which we really appreciated. I will not hesitate to ask her to look after Harry again I hope she will have time for us the next trip we make!!! She really is a terrific person.”

“Emilie was a great housesitter and took amazing care of our fur babies. She sent along pictures and updates throughout the stay and left the house tidy! Would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her care!”

“Nova stayed at our house with our 4 year old lab for 8 nights. She communicated daily, sent lots of pictures, and most importantly, took great care of Lizzy and our home. I could tell by Lizzy’s demeanor that she had a great time while we were away. We will definitely be booking with Nova again.”

“Paige put our minds totally at ease while caring for our 2 large dogs and our cat. She sent me plenty of updates and photos which was greatly appreciated. She stayed in our home so the dogs would be more comfortable, had them out for plenty of walks and playtime and even sat with my extremely picky eater so that he would finish his meal. It's always tough to leave your fur babies but we knew they were in great hands. We will definitely use Paige in the future and recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their pets.”

About: I've lived with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and a turtle my whole childhood. I spent several months working as a full-time zookeeper for predatory mammals! Recently I watched over 7 dogs over multiple days for a family member on vacation. I'm currently available to care for pets full-time and would love this opportunity before I study to be a vet-tech! I have added free time since my volunteering position ended for the summer. I am prepared to do pet sitting, pop-in visits, dog walking, and various others pet related services! I have a great history of safely watching dogs and handling situations with previous pets. I am very patient with pets such as waiting for cats to trust you first and not trying to force it.
“We knew our dog Harvard was in safe and reliable hands while we were away for a week. The house was immaculate when we returned home, and she even got Harvard a new toy! Elizabeth was extremely understanding of his quirks and reactivity. Will definitely book again!”

“Patricia did an amazing job taking care of my two rescue dogs, in my home, for 7 days. I have never left them overnight before so I was a little nervous. Patricia sent daily pictures and updates. My dogs have medical and emotional issues that come with rescue dogs and Patricia was able to keep them calm and happy. Not an easy job. I highly recommend her and will definitely use her again. It was great to come home to happy dogs and a clean house.”

Dhruv is a kind, caring individual who took great care of our dog and home. He communicated with us throughout our trip and sent us pictures of our pooch. Our dog was well and happy when we returned from our trip and Dhruv had taken great care of our home. I whole heartedly recommend Dhruv and am so thankful to him for helping to make our trip enjoyable!

Kristen is excellent! She prepared our dog Pip for their stay together by doing not one, but two meet and greets. Kristen was very communicative during the stay providing us with daily detailed updates and photos. She was attentive to the needs of our anxious dog and was able to make him comfortable while we were away. Thank you Kristen.
Tracy is absolutely wonderful. Kristin befriended our two pups on short notice and earned their trust and love - we got plenty of photo updates during our long weekend away and came home to find two happy healthy and tired dogs - so grateful for the peace of mind that Kristen afforded us!

Claire responded to me on short notice and stayed in my home with one of my dogs for 5 days. I had never left him with a dog sitter before and was quite reluctant, however, she treated him like her own and was very caring and competent with him. If she wasn't leaving town at the end of the summer I'd be happy to have her take care of him again.

We rebooked with Paige and she was phenomenal again! She took excellent care of our dog and shared plenty of updates while we were away. It was such a relief to know that our guy was in loving hands while we were away. Plus our house was EXACTLY as we had left it. She was very tidy and respectful of our space! We will certainly be rebooking with Paige a third time! Thank you for taking such great care of our boy :)

Larkyn was amazing she stayed at my house for 6 days to look after my one year old puppy and 16 year old cat. She was so respectful of my home and left it in excellent order. She also took care of my animals like they were her own. I cannot say how pleased and impressed I am with her services. I was able to relax during vacation knowing my fur babies were well taken care of. I highly recommend Larkyn 🤗

I cannot recommend Emilie enough! She was the perfect fit for taking care of our dog for a full week because they are extremely hesitant and anxious around new people. From the very first meet-and-greet, Emilie was so patient, giving our pup the space they needed to feel safe while slowly building trust. Throughout the week, I received regular photo updates and detailed check-ins. Emilie clearly understands dog body language and knows how to handle a fearful pup with grace and kindness. I returned home to a happy, relaxed dog instead of a stressed one. We will definitely be booking with Emilie again—they are a true 'dog whisperer'!

Sudharsan did a wonderful job looking after our elderly dog while we were away for a week. Communication was great, he sent us updates and pictures every day, and left our house tidier than when we left. It gave us great piece of mind knowing our dog was well cared for and comfortable in her own home. What a great service! Would 100% book Sudharsan again.
Joy house sat for us for a week. She was great with our senior dog, who has some anxiety issues. She gave him walks and lots of snuggle time. She was great with sending photo updates while we were away. She also looked after the house well. We would definitely use her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Guelph maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Guelph walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Guelph choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 77% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
