“Shelley was great and very detailed with follow up information as well as upon pick up. She treated my “baby” as one of her own. She was positive and helpful and my dog had a happy & positive experience for his first visit with other cuties there. I look forward, when needed, to take my dog 🐶 there again. Thanks Shelley!!”

“Lindsay was the first non family member I trusted to watch my boy Rocky and I am beyond grateful for her help. She did a fantastic job and I would recommend her to anyone. My dog is training to be a service dog thus I am very careful with his care. I was not concerned once while he was with Lindsay as she took such good care of him.”

“John's communication was great, from initial contact to pick up. He was very excited to be able to show off all of Moxie's walks on her Rover card. She got lots of activity and enjoyed John's backyard. Thanks a lot!”

“Bego took incredible care of my four month old puppy Jaxx. She kept me updated throughout the day with pictures and told me at pick up that he was so well behaved. She even sent me home with a little pack of treats for him. Leaving my puppy with somebody for the first time was a little anxious for me but she was absolutely incredible. I will definitely be using Bego for all my future dog care needs.”

“Deepti and Sachin always take wonderful care of Moxie. She is excited to see them and, based on Deepti's stellar communication throughout the stay, I know she has a great time with them. Lots of walks and cuddles!”

“Shannon was fantastic! Sent multiple updates with pictures throughout the day. She is friendly, understanding, and incredibly caring with my dog Pete. Home is well kept and a safe place for pets! I greatly appreciate her help. Will definitely book again, thanks, Shannon!”

About: As a dog sitter, I care for every dog as if they were my own. From playful puppies who need patience and guidance, to easygoing adult dogs who thrive on routine, to sweet seniors who deserve extra gentleness and comfort—I adapt my care to each stage of their life. I pay attention to the little things, like their energy, habits, and moods, so they feel safe, understood, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s playtime, quiet companionship, or extra support for older dogs, I’m there to make sure they’re happy and comfortable. What sets me apart is the genuine connection I build with each dog—and the peace of mind I give their owners. 🐾 Since retiring, my daily routine has been shaped by my 18-month-old Golden Retriever. His energy keeps me walking or hiking twice a day, giving my days structure and keeping me active outdoors. I’ve found this routine really fulfilling, and I’d enjoy walking other dogs as well—for the added companionship and more time spent outside. I provide a safe, structured, and comfortable environment for pets in my care. In my home, I have a fully fenced yard that allows for secure outdoor playtime and regular exercise. Pets are always supervised while outside to ensure their safety. Inside, I maintain a clean, pet-friendly space where animals can relax and feel at ease. I also have crating available for pets who are crate-trained or if owners prefer their pet to have a designated resting space. I follow each pet’s routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific care instructions. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and maintain the pet’s normal routine to minimize stress. I ensure pets are fed on schedule, exercised appropriately, and given plenty of attention and companionship. I also keep the home tidy and provide updates so owners feel confident their pets are well cared for.
“Deborah was welcoming, caring and attentive to our pet. She was very responsive and communicated throughout the day sharing wonderful pictures. Our dog came home happy and tired after a day of playing with her dog and the nice walk on the trails.”

“Camila did an amazing job of taking care of Sparky. We were a little anxious, more than Sparky, of how Sparky will be as we hadnt sent Sparky to a day boarding facility for few years and he was showing some seperation anxiety. But Camila has managed the situation well. We will be dropping off Sparky again ar Camila’s place soon.”

John took excellent care of our dog, Sammy. He made Sammy feel at home and at ease. John took him for a walk before taking him into the house so Sammy could get used to him. In fact John took Sammy for 4 walks during the time Sammy was there and kept us posted eith a photo. We appreciate that John was so flexible with our pickup time.
I will absolutely be leaving my Rottweiler Bo with Jess again! This was my very first time ever leaving him somewhere and if you know Rottweilers, they're Big Mama's Boys. I was so worried he was not going to be able to relax or have fun. But Bo had so much fun with Wyatt, he had 2, two hour naps which was very appreciated and helped him calm down. She ensured that he was in his crate after feeding to avoid bloat. I was very surprised to see how well adjusted she is too large breed dogs, I will always suggest her to anyone. If you're wondering if your dog likes cats, you will be pleased to know that her cats are very calm and I ended up finding out Bocephus loves them!!

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 79% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 90% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
