Taylor stayed with our bossy Westhighland Terrier for a week. She sent photos every day and stayed in contact keeping us in the loop of our little guys antics. We came home to a happy dog who was very tired. We gave Taylor access to our home and everything in it and she was very respectful as we came home to a happy dog and house that was the same as we left it. We will definitely book Taylor again.

About: Hi! I've taken care of multiple dogs of all ages as well as my family dog for 11 years! I am dog obsessed and need to love on any dog who comes into my line of sight. Paramedic and nurse part-time, dog whisperer full-time. Warning: dog may become accustomed to my baby talk and constant scratches and kissies! I treat all dogs like my own precious baby and love walks as well! Human AND dog CPR trained ! :D I'm currently working part-time/casually as a paramedic and as a nurse! I have differing availability throughout the week and am able to create a flexible schedule! I also try to incorporate a 30min-1 hour walk everyday and would love to add a doggy friend to that walk! I like to ensure long walks depending on the service/day and always make sure each dog is fed, full, and happy! Depending on the dog, I make sure to let them have multiple opportunities for a potty break to ensure they're the most comfortable they can be! When all safety and needs are taken care of, dogs can expect lots of cuddles, love, and "good boy"/"good girl" affirmations! I understand different dogs like differing amounts of affection and touch and I adjust based on their comfortability! I provide a patient, loving, and calm environment for all doggies!

About: With lifelong hands-on experience caring for pets, I’ve grown up surrounded by animals and have walked dogs and pet sat for family and friends. I completed placements at a professional dog walking agency in Fergus, Ontario, and at a veterinary clinic, gaining valuable knowledge in animal health and behaviour. As a foster parent, I’ve cared for pets with special needs, developing patience and compassion. Additionally, my background in social work has strengthened my ability to connect with both pets and their owners, ensuring a trustworthy and respectful relationship. I’m dedicated to providing reliable, loving care tailored to your pet’s unique personality - whether that means exercise, medication, or just companionship. You can count on me to treat your furry family members like my own. I have open availability to spend quality time with your pets over the next few weeks, aside from times that are blocked off via Rover. I will then update my schedule accordingly. I’m happy to arrange walks or drop-ins that fit your pet’s routine! When caring for your pet in your home, I create a calm, safe, and clean environment that respects your routines and space. I follow all instructions carefully, from feeding to medication. I’m comfortable managing dogs with crates, special needs, or unique behaviors, ensuring your pet feels secure and loved while you’re away.

About: I have had pets basically my whole life, from dogs to cats to bunnies! I had a Husky for 10 years, who recently passed, so I’m quite comfortable with more stubborn dogs! I absolutely love walking and hiking, and I miss doing it with a dog! I currently have 2 bunnies, so I’m absolutely comfortable if you need a bunny sitter as well. I am the type of person to notice the pet before the person, as I always want to give a little scrub and say hello! My schedule is pretty flexible, and I’m usually able to accommodate most days as I work for myself a couple days a week. Hoping to make your pet my new bestie! I’m quite flexible in my schedule, and I tend to work several times a day so I’d love to have a companion to walk with! I’m happy to follow the routine you have for your pets in their home! I love lots of pets and sitting outside, walking and playing, or cuddling up on the couch with them! I’m happy to do any of the schedule you need!

About: Hi, I'm Rachel! I'm a confident, responsible and assertive handler, having grown up with four large breed dogs. I'm certified in advanced pet first aid and CPR through The Pet Paramedic. I enjoy engaging with dogs through long walks, play, enriching games and cuddles. I am just as happy with a high-energy dog as I am with a couch potato. I love meeting new dogs and finding out their unique personalities and what makes them happy! I have first hand experience with puppies, as well as senior and special needs dogs. I'm competent and experienced with administering special diets and medications, as well as providing appropriate levels of play for dogs who have poor joints and pre-existing injuries. I’m lucky to work part-time in healthcare, so I have days off that I like to fill with being around animals! My schedule is often different each week, so if you don't see availability on my calendar, just message me- I am often able to work around it. I’m close to green space and many lovely trails to explore! My home is open to all creatures and they’re welcome to cuddle up on the couch or bed as they wish! If you’d rather have your babies stay at your house, no worries- I’m a tidy guest and can help with other small tasks around your home as needed.

About: I’ve grown up with animals of all kinds my whole life, and have a very deep resonance with cats especially. I’ve had one in every house I’ve ever lived. As this was natural to me, I’ve had the opportunity to care for many cats and homes over the years, sometimes for extended stays. So far, there isn’t a cat I haven’t been able to befriend or at least find harmonious ground. I’m very confident in my ability to take care of these wonderful pets. Though I’m specialized in taking care of cats, my care has been extended towards all animals, and so I have a naturally affinity to caring for any pet. This includes both birds and dogs. I’ve always been able to get along with dogs just as much as cats. In the past few years I’ve had even more opportunity to care for them in my home when their owner leaves. This includes feeding, walking, playing, giving affection, and attending to any other instructions. I’ve also assisted in caring for a dog and a home in the past year. This experience has been for both seasoned dogs and puppies, and I love the unique personalities of each. I’m confident in working with small to medium type dogs, though I love the large ones too! I would also love to continue gaining experience with these wonderful creatures. I’m currently student online working towards a diploma, and I’ve left my schedule very flexible to be available to care for the pets of others! Any time of the week will do, when not taking care of other bookings, and I can make myself available. Currently living with a beautiful black cat named cricket, who loves to stop for attention in the hallways and get chin scratches in the Kitchen. As for the home of others, I do my best to bring my utmost respect to the home and attention to instructions, giving proper play time, affection, special care to walking for the unique needs of each dog, and feeding schedules amongst other roles. I take pride into maintaining the safety and standard of the home when in care or it.

FAQs for House Sitting - Cambridge

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Cambridge on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,112 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cambridge. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cambridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cambridge walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cambridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 79% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
