“Lizzy was very attentive and responsible to our dog Leo. She regularly gave us updates and pics, and it was quite apparent that Leo was very comfortable and happy with her. We would happily use her again!”

“Alex has done a good job of making our cat feel comfortable while we are away. Alex is also very respectful of our space and makes sure everything is clean before leaving. Thank you!!”

“Amanda took amazing care of our pups and our home. I had such great peace of mind that my dogs were in good hands, and I never had to worry about them once while I was away. Amanda took excellent care of our home as well, and I think left it cleaner than when we left!”

“Even though Elle is a dog person, she is also capable of caring for cats! Elle housesat AND cared for three animals at once which set my mind at ease especially when our travel plans did not go well. Elle is responsive, flexible, and kind. 10/10”

“Brittany did such a wonderful job keeping our cat fed, cared for, and entertained! We had total peace of mind knowing she was giving him snuggles and love. Brittany was attentive, sent lots of photos and videos, and responded promptly to messages. Our house was spotless when she left. We will definitely rebook her for future house sits :)”

“It was our first time leaving our Frenchie Lily with a sitter and Christine made the entire experience stress-free and comfortable. She took the time to learn about Lily and her personal needs. Lily had a great time and we definitely trust Christine to take care of our fur baby!! She sent us lots of photos and updates, that was really appreciated. Thank you so much Christine, I would recommend her to anyone. We will definitely be booking Christine again!”

“Jean was a great fit to take care of our dogs, they really warmed up to her and gave us peace of mind being away from them for the week . We would definitely reach out to Jean again.”

“Brandon was a welcome companion for Buddy when we were away. Buddy was happy and content and so well care for. Looking forward to have Brandon stay with Buddy again in future 😊🐕”

“Victoria was the perfect person to stay with our clan while we were away. She followed all of our instructions to the letter, provided great communication, and left our house extremely clean and tidy. From the moment we met her, we could tell she was going to be a great fit and that our pets all took to her right away. We can’t wait to have her back again in the future! Thank you so much, Victoria!”

“Torgier is a gentleman and a really sweet person! He got along extremely well with both my babies - a cat and a dog - and I can just tell that they were very well attended to when I got back. I have a Samoyed who naturally has a lot of fur so it's hard to keep her clean. But I got her back in exactly the state I left her ❤️ Torgier sent several updates and pictures through the day, followed every instruction, double checked where he had any doubts, even vacuumed my place before he left - honestly I don't know what more I could ask for. I'll definitely be booking him again to sit my babies!”

“Emma has watched our pets (1 cat and 1 dogs) for evenings out and vacations as long as a week and they love spending time with her! Our dog Marshall has some issues with reactivity and a history of resource guarding. Emma is able to manage his behaviours with the strategies we provide. She is familiar with the tools we utilize (crate training, place, slip lead, prong and e-collar) and is one of the few people we trust to care for Marshall! She always leaves our home clean and tidy as we left it and is incredibly reliable for short term and long term in home care and walks!”

“We were extremely pleased with Taryn’s service. She was friendly and professional. She communicated with us and sent pictures throughout her stay. Our cats were well taken care of by Taryn.”

“Sindokht took excellent care of our cat, elder dog, and home while we were traveling for a long weekend. Communication was excellent and lots of pictures of happy animals were shared. I would absolutely continue using her services!”

“Hugo was available on short notice to watch Cupcake over the weekend and made time before hand to come do a meet and greet. His calm and kind nature came across right away and I felt comfortable leaving her in his hands. Hugo was fantastic with communication, he sent me updates and pictures. Cupcake had a blast with Hugo and I wouldn't hesitate to ask him back!!”

“Lynn did such a good job of taking care of our dog while we were away! She's normally stressed when we come back from a trip but was happy and relaxed this time so I could tell that she felt at ease with Lynn while we were away. Lynn sent lots of cute pictures and was very responsive. Would definitely book with her again!”

“Hello, To anyone who is nerves like I was leaving my dogs with someone else. Rest assured Dave was awesome with my dogs and he treated them like they were his dogs! He is amazing and will definitely use him again. He was sending me updates on my dogs with photos all night and kept me up to date on them. Highly recommend Dave. Thank you Dave for taking such good care of my babies!”

“Aparna was amazing with our pet Smokey. She kept my cat engaged and also fed him on time as he is very particular about his food time and choices. They both bonded so well and she made feel Smokey safe. I would definately recommend her and would reach out again for Smokey.”

About: I am home all day to Love and Protect your pet. My home is quiet and my arms are open for pups, seniors, those in-between & even your quirky rescue. Animals aren’t a side hobby for me; they’ve been the central thread of my life. I grew up caring for and training horses and dogs, which taught me to read animal body language before I could even read books. Raising puppies is my true love—they fill my heart and soul. Over the years, I have loved and cared for five of my own dogs from their very first puppy steps all the way to their final resting places—including my Shepherd (Max), my Rottweiler (Misty), my Golden/Rottie mix (Maisy), and my Golden Retriever (Lily). From years of agility training to countless puppy classes at McCann’s, I’ve poured my life into understanding and bonding with dogs. While I am on Rover to offer boarding, housesitting, and drop-in care—not formal training services—my deep background means your pet is in exceptionally skilled, safe hands. I have been a puppy raiser for National Service Dogs, successfully raising a pup who graduated to assist a first responder with PTSD. I also have a deep comfort level with rescues and senior dogs—whether it's connecting and gaining the trust of a reactive rescue Pitbull/Rottweiler mix for five months, or catering to the slow, gentle pace of a sweet 15-year-old Dachshund like Diesel. Whether you have a brand-new puppy who needs consistent crate training and patience, an elder statesdog who needs extra care, or a rescue who requires an experienced handler who truly understands their world, I offer a level of intuition, safety, and genuine love that goes far beyond standard pet sitting. I also provide drop-in care for cats who prefer staying in their own kingdom. You can travel knowing your pet is being cherished as one of my own. PS. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and I may encourage them to hop up on the bed Because I m home full-time, your pet becomes the primary focus. They won't be left alone for long stretches or stuck in a crate while someone works a 9-to-5. My home is a quiet, predictable environment where your puppy can get the frequent potty breaks they need, or your senior dog can get the peace, quiet, and cuddles they deserve. Whether they are staying with me or I am visiting them, they get my undivided attention, endless affection, and a seamless continuation of their normal daily routine. My home will be an extension of yours - whatever rules your pets have - the use of crates, or not; on or off furniture, specific feeding or walk times. I am here to support. My yard is not fenced, which means more time together outside (on leash).
“Sarah was great with our 7 month old puppy. He sustained an injury the day she came and before she was to start watching him. We were away and unable to take him to the vet to determine what the issue was. Sarah took him on our behalf and then made sure he had both his medication along with the rest he needed to recover. Her dedication and commitment to making sure he was well was greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Sarah for her services she offers and look forward to having her back with our pup again soon.”

“Samantha took excellent care of our three cats and our home while she was house-sitting for us. She sent tons of pictures and videos, which we loved as it helped us feel confident in their wellbeing. She understood the cats different play styles and care needs and was attentive to all of them. Thank you Samantha!”

Amanda helped us out with house and cat sitting while we were away. She was amazing - I will definitely be using her services again in the future! She took such great care of our cat, following all of his care instructions perfectly. And she took care of all of the household tasks like watering plants and putting garbage out, and left the place clean and in great condition. She was great with all communication and was flexible with some last minute changes we made to our booking. Thank you Amanda!

Would leave 10 stars if we could. Jean went above & beyond from a smooth meet & greet through our arrival home to a spotless space and a happy pooch. She took our beagle on multiple walks, sent frequent updates/photos, and did everything to care for her perfectly. She also left us the sweetest note detailing the experience and while we were nervous trying this service for the first time, Jean has fully set us at ease and will be our first call next time our fur baby needs company!

So great to have Lizzy back again to care for our house and 2 kitties. 🏠🐈🐈⬛️ She is super-organized and very attentive to our fur-babies, and keeps us updated with detailed written and pictorial reports. 📸 🤩 We even planned our mini-getaway around her availability. 📅 Thanks again Lizzy! ❤️

MJ stayed with our 2 kitties and dog Frankie for 10 days recently. We had never left our quirky senior rescue pup with anyone other than family in the 10 plus years we’ve had her. To say we were stressed about it would be an understatement. Then we found MJ. We were able to leave and enjoy our time away without worrying at all about the animals. Frankie warmed right up to her and she can be reactive with new people. We immediately felt confident MJ was more than capable in handling her behaviours. She was awesome about learning the routines of the animals, even the silly little things we do and was great about keeping in touch with photos and messages while we were gone. MJ also took awesome care of the house as well. Leaving it better than we left it even. We couldn’t recommend her more and are so thankful to have found her!

So thankful for Behnaz watching my dog in my home while I was away. She provided daily updates, photos and always responsive. This was the first time leaving my dog, and Behnaz ensured my dog kept her routine and provided lots of attention, activity and care. Would absolutely recommend Behnaz.

I booked Piper to stay at our home with our pets while my husband and I were away on vacation. She did a wonderful job, I have never had peace of mind like I did this time. I could tell that my pets were well cared for, I got daily pics and updates. Our husky is a handful and she was on her best behavior while we were away. I would highly recommend Piper for overnight stays or any type of person care you may need!!! She's kind and friendly and I had worries leaving her in charge of my home and pets. We will definitely book with her again!!!

Our fur babies were loved and very happy with Sarah! Even our skittish and slow to warm up pups were snuggling and giving endless kisses while we were gone. Our home was left immaculate and when our flight home was delayed Sarah made sure they were good until we landed. Highly recommend her services for home stays with multiple dogs including nervous/reactive pups.
Victoria was awesome! Super easy to communicate with and she took great care of my mini dachshund puppy who can definitely be a handful! It was my first time using rover and she was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process and sent me pictures and updates while she was house sitting. 11/10 would recommend and we will definitely be booking her again anytime she is available!

Christine did a wonderful job taking care of our dog Pepper overnight at our house. Pepper is anxious around new people but warmed up quickly to Christine. She sent us updates and pictures throughout her stay. We will definitely be booking her again in the future. Thank you Christine!

Shannon is absolutely amazing. It was our first time using dog/house sitter services and we were a little nervous. Shannon put us at ease from the moment we met her. She is responsible, detail oriented, conscientious, and loves dogs. From the caring messages and photos she sent us every day, to the spotless house we came home to, Shannon exceeded our expectations in every way. She took exceptional care of our house and dog for a week, and we would not hesitate to do it again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Kitchener on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kitchener maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kitchener walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kitchener choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 76% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
