Victoria was absolutely amazing. I had so much anxiety about having someone in our house that we didn’t know personally and she really helped me feel at ease. She gave updates, pictures and followed my detailed instructions for my Doberman. Merlot will miss her new BFF and the cuddles and loving she got from Victoria! I would highly recommend and will be rebooking with her. She left the place exactly as it was when we left and even washed our bed sheets! She’s trustworthy thru and thru. Thanks again so much! 🤍

Emma has watched our pets (1 cat and 1 dogs) for evenings out and vacations as long as a week and they love spending time with her! Our dog Marshall has some issues with reactivity and a history of resource guarding. Emma is able to manage his behaviours with the strategies we provide. She is familiar with the tools we utilize (crate training, place, slip lead, prong and e-collar) and is one of the few people we trust to care for Marshall! She always leaves our home clean and tidy as we left it and is incredibly reliable for short term and long term in home care and walks!

About: I've had pets for most of my life and currently have a support dog. I'm looking to provide a pet walking service and drop in care. I have experience working at a dog day care center in addition to preparing pets for a wash and haircut. My schedule is currently open 7 days a week. I am an art student working on my portfolio; so I have a lot of spare time to spend with my dog. I have a medium sized backyard that I play with my shihtzu Malfoy, we go on walks daily and he loves to chase the neighborhood squirrel. He has a daily medication routine and afterwards we tend to play fetch.

I regularly care for multiple rabbits, including fosters, and am very comfortable with their specialized needs such as diet, enclosure maintenance, administering medication, and monitoring behaviour and health. In addition to rabbits, I have solid experience caring for cats, including feeding routines, litter box care, administering medication, and working with a range of personalities from shy to very social. I am very attentive to changes in behaviour and understand how important consistency and routine are for pets. I am confident following detailed care instructions, keeping homes clean and organized, and providing regular updates so owners feel completely at ease while they are away. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to prioritize pet care and stick closely to your pet’s usual routine. I can accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening care, and I’m happy to spend quality time with your pet to make sure they feel comfortable and not alone while you’re away. I always aim to keep pets as comfortable as possible by following their normal routine and care instructions closely. About: I provide reliable, attentive care tailored to each pet’s needs. I currently look after a senior dog who requires scheduled pee breaks, support with mobility, and two easy going snuggly cats. My experience includes short-term and long stay with both mixed pet homes and single pet homes. Cat care included feeding schedules, litter cleaning, and plenty of lap time. I am comfortable with senior pets, pets with medical needs, and busy multi-pet households. I prioritize routine and attention to their wants. I work online with a deeply flexible schedule, I can interrupte what I do at any moment. Caring for your pets is my privilege and joy. When caring for pets in your home, I follow your routine exactly as you set it. I’m a long-time homeowner myself, and I treat your space with the same respect and care I expected in mine. Clear routines & structure • I follow your schedule for feeding, walks, medications, movement support, and bedtime routines. • I confirm details like coat/boot use, leash type, walk length, and whether your dog needs structured play or a run. • I maintain established routines between multiple pets, including safe feeding order and supervised interactions. Home safety & respect • No guests ever enter your home. • I am a quiet, low-impact presence. • Doors are locked, areas of the house you specify are avoided, and I follow your nighttime routine for pee breaks and house security. • I tidy as I go and leave your home as I found it. Pet-specific care details • I confirm treat limits, what behaviour they’re used for, and any food or item that must remain inaccessible. • I ask about any recent food changes, sensitivities, or mobility concerns. • I monitor subtle changes—energy, appetite, bathroom habits—and communicate anything noteworthy. Cleanliness & preparedness • I ask where cleaning supplies, vacuums, or mops are kept in case of spills or accidents. • Litter, food areas, water bowls, and pet spaces are kept clean and consistent. Communication & emergencies • I provide daily updates and will clarify any instruction necessary to ensure accuracy. • I follow your emergency plan, including your preferred veterinarian. • Cameras, alarms, or home-specific systems are respected exactly as directed. My goal is simple: your pets feel secure, your home is respected, and your instructions are followed with precision.

Rita came and met our anxious pup in advance of her pup-sitting date. What a delight it was to know that our fur-baby would be in such capable hands! We didn't have to worry about anything - walks, feeding, naps, cuddles, and a human to sleep with at night - Rita had it covered! She also sent us lots of photos so we knew our boy was happy! We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Rita as your next dog-sitter!

I booked Piper to stay at our home with our pets while my husband and I were away on vacation. She did a wonderful job, I have never had peace of mind like I did this time. I could tell that my pets were well cared for, I got daily pics and updates. Our husky is a handful and she was on her best behavior while we were away. I would highly recommend Piper for overnight stays or any type of person care you may need!!! She's kind and friendly and I had worries leaving her in charge of my home and pets. We will definitely book with her again!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Kitchener

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kitchener on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 838 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kitchener. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kitchener maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kitchener walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kitchener choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 78% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
