“Alex has done a good job of making our cat feel comfortable while we are away. Alex is also very respectful of our space and makes sure everything is clean before leaving. Thank you!!”

“Elle was absolutely lovely. Our pets adored her, she sent great updates, took excellent care of our home and the animals for a weekend while we were away. We would rebook her without hesitation!”

“This is our 2nd time requesting Lizzy to look after Leo. Not surprisingly, Leo loves having Lizzy spend time with him. Again, Lizzy communicated regularly to me, with many cute pics. I wouldn't hesitate to ask Lizzy again!”

“I honestly cannot say good things enough about Linnea. The thing one always hopes for is that a sitter treats our pets just like we treat them - as family. Linnea did just that! She paid attention to the little things such as digging out a can of wet food when I forgot to leave one out before Ieft, making sure the anal area and sides of the hind legs were cleaned properly to avoid urine stains, she even put away all the dishes after doing them (something I didn't ask or expect of her at all!). And most most importantly she made sure that the house clean and in the same state as I left it. She's prompt, punctual, and kept me up to date with detailed updates throughout the stay. Will definitely and absolutely be booking her again!”

“Piper cared for our two cats for a week and caring, attentive, and reliable. She kept us updated with plenty of photos and messages, and her communication was clear and professional. We returned home to happy, well-cared-for cats and a tidy space. Highly recommend!”

“Thank you Brittany! I am able to go on my work trips with peace of mind. Hazel is well cared for and seems happy and content upon my return. Brittany is an excellent in house dog sitter & respectful of my home. I appreciate her!”

About: I have a lot of experience taking care of different animals throughout my life, raised my mom's puppy (the poodle you can see in some of my pictures) and I've taken care of my best friends cat ever since I was 7/8 years old and I've always loved all animals. I'm happy to go for really long walks and play with animals for as much as they need. I'm currently between jobs so I have plenty of time to take care of any pet that needs love and attention, and if I do find a job I'll still have plenty of time to take care of your pets as I love beeing outdoors and going on walks :) I will always be available to play and walk with your pet (if it is a pet that needs walks). I'll make sure your pet gets the care and love they deserve :)
“Poppy had such a nice time playing frisbee, hide and go treat, and cuddling on the couch with Janaya. Janaya was responsible, communicative, clean and treated everything with care. Would definitely recommend her service to others.”

“Thank you so much for looking after Draco! I know dealing with a high energy dog can be challenging but you conquered the task well! Draco looks very happy when he’s with you and I came back home with him in great spirits. Thank you again!”

“Thank you so much for looking after Scarlett and our house for us! Thank you also for the photos and for being so responsive while we were away. Looking forward to booking you again!”

“Emma has watched our pets (1 cat and 1 dogs) for evenings out and vacations as long as a week and they love spending time with her! Our dog Marshall has some issues with reactivity and a history of resource guarding. Emma is able to manage his behaviours with the strategies we provide. She is familiar with the tools we utilize (crate training, place, slip lead, prong and e-collar) and is one of the few people we trust to care for Marshall! She always leaves our home clean and tidy as we left it and is incredibly reliable for short term and long term in home care and walks!”

About: Hi! I’m an adventurous, bubbly, and caring person who loves spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and, most importantly, caring for animals. I work with children, so patience, responsibility, and creating a fun, safe environment come naturally to me. Your pet will be treated like family, with plenty of love, attention, playtime, and cuddles. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or relaxing at home, I’ll make sure they feel happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friend! Pet care is a big part of my daily routine. I have a dog named Milo, so my days already include walks, playtime, cuddles, and making sure he gets plenty of love and attention. Caring for Milo has taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and treating every pet like family. I’ll care for your pet with the same love and attention I give my own. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I take the time to learn their routine, follow your instructions closely, and make sure they feel safe, loved, and relaxed. Whether in my home or yours, I’ll provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, fresh water, and lots of cuddles. I’ll care for your pet as if they were my own and keep you updated with photos and messages for peace of mind.
“Lynn did an amazing job taking care of my dog and 2 cats! They were so well taken care of while I was away for the weekend, and I could see that through all of the pictures she sent during her time with my fur babies! I will definitely be booking Lynn again, she was amazing with all of my pets, and I knew they were in very good hands with her!”

About: I had a family dog that I helped take care of throughout my whole childhood, and my wife and I now have two kittens of our own! I have learned a lot about pet health, feeding and medicine administration from my wife as she is in veterinary school and works at a veterinary clinic. We have had a rover account through her name for the past couple of years so I have a large amount of experience with all types of pets, cat or dog, big or small. I am a grade 7/8 teacher in the Waterloo Region, so I have a lot of time during the summers that I am hoping to fill up with caring for pets. I also plan to continue doing this as a side gig while I continue my teaching career. I have experience playing with my two kittens in my apartment and I love it! I can play with your dogs or cats inside or outside- however they prefer. I have lots of experience with dog walking as well.
“We rebooked with Paige and she was phenomenal again! She took excellent care of our dog and shared plenty of updates while we were away. It was such a relief to know that our guy was in loving hands while we were away. Plus our house was EXACTLY as we had left it. She was very tidy and respectful of our space! We will certainly be rebooking with Paige a third time! Thank you for taking such great care of our boy :)”

About: I am home all day to Love and Protect your pet. My home is quiet and my arms are open for pups, seniors, those in-between & even your quirky rescue. Animals aren’t a side hobby for me; they’ve been the central thread of my life. I grew up caring for and training horses and dogs, which taught me to read animal body language before I could even read books. Raising puppies is my true love—they fill my heart and soul. Over the years, I have loved and cared for five of my own dogs from their very first puppy steps all the way to their final resting places—including my Shepherd (Max), my Rottweiler (Misty), my Golden/Rottie mix (Maisy), and my Golden Retriever (Lily). From years of agility training to countless puppy classes at McCann’s, I’ve poured my life into understanding and bonding with dogs. While I am on Rover to offer boarding, housesitting, and drop-in care—not formal training services—my deep background means your pet is in exceptionally skilled, safe hands. I have been a puppy raiser for National Service Dogs, successfully raising a pup who graduated to assist a first responder with PTSD. I also have a deep comfort level with rescues and senior dogs—whether it's connecting and gaining the trust of a reactive rescue Pitbull/Rottweiler mix for five months, or catering to the slow, gentle pace of a sweet 15-year-old Dachshund like Diesel. Whether you have a brand-new puppy who needs consistent crate training and patience, an elder statesdog who needs extra care, or a rescue who requires an experienced handler who truly understands their world, I offer a level of intuition, safety, and genuine love that goes far beyond standard pet sitting. I also provide drop-in care for cats who prefer staying in their own kingdom. You can travel knowing your pet is being cherished as one of my own. PS. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and I may encourage them to hop up on the bed Because I m home full-time, your pet becomes the primary focus. They won't be left alone for long stretches or stuck in a crate while someone works a 9-to-5. My home is a quiet, predictable environment where your puppy can get the frequent potty breaks they need, or your senior dog can get the peace, quiet, and cuddles they deserve. Whether they are staying with me or I am visiting them, they get my undivided attention, endless affection, and a seamless continuation of their normal daily routine. My home will be an extension of yours - whatever rules your pets have - the use of crates, or not; on or off furniture, specific feeding or walk times. I am here to support. My yard is not fenced, which means more time together outside (on leash).
“Sindokht was fantastic with Poppy! She sent lots a great updates and played all of Poppy favourite games with her. She was responsive, responsible and took great care of the house as well. We’d definitely have her come back for house sitting again!”

“Hugo was available on short notice to watch Cupcake over the weekend and made time before hand to come do a meet and greet. His calm and kind nature came across right away and I felt comfortable leaving her in his hands. Hugo was fantastic with communication, he sent me updates and pictures. Cupcake had a blast with Hugo and I wouldn't hesitate to ask him back!!”

“Sarah took wonderful care of my 2 small dogs so that they were relaxed and happy when I got home. She provided regular updates which made me confident they were being cared for lovingly. Sarah is now my go-to sitter! Thanks, Sarah!”

Micki was awesome - a last-minute booking, splitting time between our house and hers, helping us out with a last-minute remote shenanigans, and being so understanding of our pups' peculiarities. A wonderful, flexible dog-sitter! I appreciated her photos and fast communication especially.

Always my first choice to book with Izzy. She goes above and beyond to take care of Freya. There was a thunderstorm and freya was hiding in the bathroom, Izzy stay with her in the bathroom giving her reassurances and hugs. Freya looks for Izzy after she leaves and that tells me everything about how loved Freya must have felt and I am so thankful to come home to my happy healthy girl who had her own little vacation.

So thankful for Behnaz watching my dog in my home while I was away. She provided daily updates, photos and always responsive. This was the first time leaving my dog, and Behnaz ensured my dog kept her routine and provided lots of attention, activity and care. Would absolutely recommend Behnaz.

Samantha took excellent care of our three cats and our home while she was house-sitting for us. She sent tons of pictures and videos, which we loved as it helped us feel confident in their wellbeing. She understood the cats different play styles and care needs and was attentive to all of them. Thank you Samantha!

I booked Piper to stay at our home with our pets while my husband and I were away on vacation. She did a wonderful job, I have never had peace of mind like I did this time. I could tell that my pets were well cared for, I got daily pics and updates. Our husky is a handful and she was on her best behavior while we were away. I would highly recommend Piper for overnight stays or any type of person care you may need!!! She's kind and friendly and I had worries leaving her in charge of my home and pets. We will definitely book with her again!!!

Our fur babies were loved and very happy with Sarah! Even our skittish and slow to warm up pups were snuggling and giving endless kisses while we were gone. Our home was left immaculate and when our flight home was delayed Sarah made sure they were good until we landed. Highly recommend her services for home stays with multiple dogs including nervous/reactive pups.
Shannon is absolutely amazing. It was our first time using dog/house sitter services and we were a little nervous. Shannon put us at ease from the moment we met her. She is responsible, detail oriented, conscientious, and loves dogs. From the caring messages and photos she sent us every day, to the spotless house we came home to, Shannon exceeded our expectations in every way. She took exceptional care of our house and dog for a week, and we would not hesitate to do it again.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waterloo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waterloo walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waterloo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 78% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
