“Lizzy is always a communicative, empathetic and personable pet/house sitter. I trust her entirely to look at my precious babies and to care for my home. She accommodates last-minute changes and treats my pets as if they were her own. I hope I can always have her look after my pets while I am away.”

“Megan was excellent with my 2 dogs and cat. Communication was great, she sent frequent updates and pictures, and followed up with any instructions that were unclear. I will booking with Megan again in the near future. Thanks Megan, my pets had a great day with you 😊”

“Thank you Brittany! I am able to go on my work trips with peace of mind. Hazel is well cared for and seems happy and content upon my return. Brittany is an excellent in house dog sitter & respectful of my home. I appreciate her!”

“Linnea took wonderful care of my fur babies! They were all happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for when I arrived home. The dogs were walked twice and had no issues at all. It was clear they enjoyed their time with her. Thank you, Linnea, for taking such great care of them! 🐾💕”

About: I've had pets for most of my life and currently have a support dog. I'm looking to provide a pet walking service and drop in care. I have experience working at a dog day care center in addition to preparing pets for a wash and haircut. My schedule is currently open 7 days a week. I am an art student working on my portfolio; so I have a lot of spare time to spend with my dog. I have a medium sized backyard that I play with my shihtzu Malfoy, we go on walks daily and he loves to chase the neighborhood squirrel. He has a daily medication routine and afterwards we tend to play fetch.
“Hachi really enjoyed spending time with Janaya! Great communication and punctual and is great with Hachi and his separation anxiety. She also understood we are working on his separation anxiety and provided him with crate time.”

“Aliyah was our live in pet sitter for our cat Ginger while we were away for two weeks. Aliyah was very reliable and responsible. Aliyah provided updates and photos/videos. Ginger became comfortable and affectionate with Aliyah. We recommend Aliyah as a pet sitter.”

“She gave us constant updates on our pets while we were on our trip which we were very grateful for, also many pictures. The house was exactly like we left it so we are very thankful!”

“Lynn did such a good job of taking care of our dog while we were away! She's normally stressed when we come back from a trip but was happy and relaxed this time so I could tell that she felt at ease with Lynn while we were away. Lynn sent lots of cute pictures and was very responsive. Would definitely book with her again!”

“Zoe provided fast communication throughout the house sitting booking process and her stay. She regularly sent photos of their walks, and went above and beyond taking our girl on a trail walk. Highly recommend booking with Zoe :)”

“Kayla was amazing! She was able to watch my dog Millie and my five cats on quite short notice after my other options fell through. She was extremely understanding and patient with Millie who is a large and reactive dog. Millie quickly warmed up to her and she was great with the cats as well. I really appreciated the frequent updates on how all the animals were doing while I was away and will be in touch in the future anytime I need someone to watch Millie. I couldn't be happier with Kayla's house sitting services!”

“Mariah was a rockstar in house-sitting and caring for our big rottweiler doberman Coba over our two week vacation. She was highly responsive, organized, and so lovely to chat with. She adapted to an issue with our backyard fence and Coba's daily routines without interrupting our vacation at all. Would love to book her again in future if she's available!”

“Hugo was available on short notice to watch Cupcake over the weekend and made time before hand to come do a meet and greet. His calm and kind nature came across right away and I felt comfortable leaving her in his hands. Hugo was fantastic with communication, he sent me updates and pictures. Cupcake had a blast with Hugo and I wouldn't hesitate to ask him back!!”

About: I have a lot of experience taking care of different animals throughout my life, raised my mom's puppy (the poodle you can see in some of my pictures) and I've taken care of my best friends cat ever since I was 7/8 years old and I've always loved all animals. I'm happy to go for really long walks and play with animals for as much as they need. I'm currently between jobs so I have plenty of time to take care of any pet that needs love and attention, and if I do find a job I'll still have plenty of time to take care of your pets as I love beeing outdoors and going on walks :) I will always be available to play and walk with your pet (if it is a pet that needs walks). I'll make sure your pet gets the care and love they deserve :)
“Isabella was a wonderful sitter! She clearly loves animals and was absolutely amazing with my dogs. She was very timely, communicated clearly throughout the day, and made sure to follow all instructions carefully. I really appreciated the regular updates and photos — it gave me peace of mind knowing the dogs were in great hands. I would definitely book her again!”

“Emma has watched our pets (1 cat and 1 dogs) for evenings out and vacations as long as a week and they love spending time with her! Our dog Marshall has some issues with reactivity and a history of resource guarding. Emma is able to manage his behaviours with the strategies we provide. She is familiar with the tools we utilize (crate training, place, slip lead, prong and e-collar) and is one of the few people we trust to care for Marshall! She always leaves our home clean and tidy as we left it and is incredibly reliable for short term and long term in home care and walks!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Waterloo
I honestly cannot say good things enough about Linnea. The thing one always hopes for is that a sitter treats our pets just like we treat them - as family. Linnea did just that! She paid attention to the little things such as digging out a can of wet food when I forgot to leave one out before Ieft, making sure the anal area and sides of the hind legs were cleaned properly to avoid urine stains, she even put away all the dishes after doing them (something I didn't ask or expect of her at all!). And most most importantly she made sure that the house clean and in the same state as I left it. She's prompt, punctual, and kept me up to date with detailed updates throughout the stay. Will definitely and absolutely be booking her again!

Lizzy is our boys favorite person!!!! She truly is one of a kind. The way she loves and cares for animals really makes us feel so safe and doesn’t allow us to have any worries when we are away. She sends the sweetest updates and pictures. If I could give Lizzy more stars, I would!!! Thank you again Lizzy, the boys miss you already! 💓

Brittany did such a wonderful job keeping our cat fed, cared for, and entertained! We had total peace of mind knowing she was giving him snuggles and love. Brittany was attentive, sent lots of photos and videos, and responded promptly to messages. Our house was spotless when she left. We will definitely rebook her for future house sits :)

Shannon is absolutely amazing. It was our first time using dog/house sitter services and we were a little nervous. Shannon put us at ease from the moment we met her. She is responsible, detail oriented, conscientious, and loves dogs. From the caring messages and photos she sent us every day, to the spotless house we came home to, Shannon exceeded our expectations in every way. She took exceptional care of our house and dog for a week, and we would not hesitate to do it again.

At first I was nervous to use the Rover service as it was my first time and I wasn't sure what to expect. Sarah soon put all my fears to rest. During the meet and greet, my dog wouldn't leave her side. It was clear she was a true animal lover. Sarah house sat for us and took care of our dog while we went on a trip to Mexico. She provided pictures and updates and when we got home, it was clear my dog was happy and relaxed. My house was left clean and tidy and the experience was everything that I could have asked for. I highly recommend Sarah and would have no reservation about rebooking her in the future.

We left Sirus with this wonderful couple for three days and couldn't be happier! They were so kind to him and kept us updated with photos and messages the entire time, which really put our minds at ease. They were also incredibly flexible when we ran late for pickup. Sirus came home a very happy dog we highly recommend them!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Waterloo on Rover is $52.3 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 800 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Waterloo. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waterloo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waterloo walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waterloo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 75% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
