“Liz was BEYOND wonderful with our 8 month old puppy Ralph, and our cat Guinness. She stayed the evening with the pets and cared for our home as if it were her own. We haven’t been away from our puppy since we got him (6 months ago), and decided to give Rover a try. We were certainly hesitant at first, allowing a “stranger” into our home (although Liz doesn’t feel like one anymore). We scheduled a meet and greet with Liz for her to meet the pup and for us to meet her. Within 5 min we were sold. Liz is caring, responsible, knowledgeable, clean, and very legit. We watched her interact with Ralph and we were able to see how she cared for him during the meet and greet. Ralph even fell asleep in her arms while we all stood around chatting (Ralph doesn’t even fall asleep in OUR arms!!). Not only does Liz put your pets first, she also presents herself in a way that makes you feel confident your animals and home will be taken care of. It’s not at all like leaving your pets and home with “the neighbours teenage kid who needs some extra cash”. This is a business for Liz and she takes it very seriously. Liz provided text and photo updates while we were away, and we could tell coming home that the pets felt comfortable and weren’t at all “off”. Liz even shoveled our driveway and again did little things as if it were her own home and possessions. I cannot recommend Liz enough and we now have someone we trust to either walk Ralph, sit with him for an hour or two, or even stay overnight. This will certainly be an ongoing relationship with Liz. All I can say is that if you’re hesitant, I understand, I was too. Reach out to Liz for a meet and greet and go from there. The hesitation will be gone in moments.”

“Brittany did such a wonderful job keeping our cat fed, cared for, and entertained! We had total peace of mind knowing she was giving him snuggles and love. Brittany was attentive, sent lots of photos and videos, and responded promptly to messages. Our house was spotless when she left. We will definitely rebook her for future house sits :)”

“Linnea took wonderful care of my fur babies! They were all happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for when I arrived home. The dogs were walked twice and had no issues at all. It was clear they enjoyed their time with her. Thank you, Linnea, for taking such great care of them! 🐾💕”

“Megan was excellent with my 2 dogs and cat. Communication was great, she sent frequent updates and pictures, and followed up with any instructions that were unclear. I will booking with Megan again in the near future. Thanks Megan, my pets had a great day with you 😊”

“Aliyah was our live in pet sitter for our cat Ginger while we were away for two weeks. Aliyah was very reliable and responsible. Aliyah provided updates and photos/videos. Ginger became comfortable and affectionate with Aliyah. We recommend Aliyah as a pet sitter.”

“Kara is a great house and dog sitter. I felt that my dog was well taken care of. She understands dogs so well and genuinely happy to be with your dog. Very professional, polite and tidy. Highly recommend.”

“I booked Piper to stay at our home with our pets while my husband and I were away on vacation. She did a wonderful job, I have never had peace of mind like I did this time. I could tell that my pets were well cared for, I got daily pics and updates. Our husky is a handful and she was on her best behavior while we were away. I would highly recommend Piper for overnight stays or any type of person care you may need!!! She's kind and friendly and I had worries leaving her in charge of my home and pets. We will definitely book with her again!!!”

About: I've had pets for most of my life and currently have a support dog. I'm looking to provide a pet walking service and drop in care. I have experience working at a dog day care center in addition to preparing pets for a wash and haircut. My schedule is currently open 7 days a week. I am an art student working on my portfolio; so I have a lot of spare time to spend with my dog. I have a medium sized backyard that I play with my shihtzu Malfoy, we go on walks daily and he loves to chase the neighborhood squirrel. He has a daily medication routine and afterwards we tend to play fetch.
“Janaya was great at communicating with me and took very good care of Hachi! She followed his routine well and took him for walks & helped with his crate training as he’s working on separation anxiety Very lovely!!!”

About: I have a lot of experience taking care of different animals throughout my life, raised my mom's puppy (the poodle you can see in some of my pictures) and I've taken care of my best friends cat ever since I was 7/8 years old and I've always loved all animals. I'm happy to go for really long walks and play with animals for as much as they need. I'm currently between jobs so I have plenty of time to take care of any pet that needs love and attention, and if I do find a job I'll still have plenty of time to take care of your pets as I love beeing outdoors and going on walks :) I will always be available to play and walk with your pet (if it is a pet that needs walks). I'll make sure your pet gets the care and love they deserve :)
“Emma has watched our pets (1 cat and 1 dogs) for evenings out and vacations as long as a week and they love spending time with her! Our dog Marshall has some issues with reactivity and a history of resource guarding. Emma is able to manage his behaviours with the strategies we provide. She is familiar with the tools we utilize (crate training, place, slip lead, prong and e-collar) and is one of the few people we trust to care for Marshall! She always leaves our home clean and tidy as we left it and is incredibly reliable for short term and long term in home care and walks!”

About: I am home all day to Love and Protect your pet. My home is quiet and my arms are open for pups, seniors, those in-between & even your quirky rescue. Animals aren’t a side hobby for me; they’ve been the central thread of my life. I grew up caring for and training horses and dogs, which taught me to read animal body language before I could even read books. Raising puppies is my true love—they fill my heart and soul. Over the years, I have loved and cared for five of my own dogs from their very first puppy steps all the way to their final resting places—including my Shepherd (Max), my Rottweiler (Misty), my Golden/Rottie mix (Maisy), and my Golden Retriever (Lily). From years of agility training to countless puppy classes at McCann’s, I’ve poured my life into understanding and bonding with dogs. While I am on Rover to offer boarding, housesitting, and drop-in care—not formal training services—my deep background means your pet is in exceptionally skilled, safe hands. I have been a puppy raiser for National Service Dogs, successfully raising a pup who graduated to assist a first responder with PTSD. I also have a deep comfort level with rescues and senior dogs—whether it's connecting and gaining the trust of a reactive rescue Pitbull/Rottweiler mix for five months, or catering to the slow, gentle pace of a sweet 15-year-old Dachshund like Diesel. Whether you have a brand-new puppy who needs consistent crate training and patience, an elder statesdog who needs extra care, or a rescue who requires an experienced handler who truly understands their world, I offer a level of intuition, safety, and genuine love that goes far beyond standard pet sitting. I also provide drop-in care for cats who prefer staying in their own kingdom. You can travel knowing your pet is being cherished as one of my own. PS. Dogs are welcome on the furniture and I may encourage them to hop up on the bed Because I m home full-time, your pet becomes the primary focus. They won't be left alone for long stretches or stuck in a crate while someone works a 9-to-5. My home is a quiet, predictable environment where your puppy can get the frequent potty breaks they need, or your senior dog can get the peace, quiet, and cuddles they deserve. Whether they are staying with me or I am visiting them, they get my undivided attention, endless affection, and a seamless continuation of their normal daily routine. My home will be an extension of yours - whatever rules your pets have - the use of crates, or not; on or off furniture, specific feeding or walk times. I am here to support. My yard is not fenced, which means more time together outside (on leash).
About: NOTE: Times I am available are listed under "Availability" (left side of screen on computer + in the middle of this section on phone) I treat every pet like they’re my own, taking the time to understand their personality, routine, and what helps them feel safe and comfortable. I’ve owned dogs and cats my entire life and have experience pet sitting for others, so I’m familiar with a wide range of temperaments, energy levels, and care needs. I’m especially patient with shy or anxious pets and focus on building trust at their pace, while also being able to keep up with energetic puppies who need structure, play, and consistency. I pay close attention to behavior and body language, which helps me respond quickly to anything your pet might need. I’m also very mindful of routines, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, medications, or just maintaining the environment your pet is used to. I’ll always keep you updated so you feel confident and reassured while you’re away. My goal is to make sure your pet feels relaxed, understood, and genuinely cared for the entire time. ********************* **Schedule updated weekly** Available ANYTIME on: Sunday (19th) - Wednesday (22nd), Friday (24th) Available anytime BEFORE 4:00PM on: Saturday (25th) NOT Available: Thursday (23rd), Sunday (26th) (As Rover is not showing the times I am available, I will update this section of my profile every week.) ********************* When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any specific preferences your pet has. I’m very mindful of your pet’s comfort and behavior, and I always make sure they feel safe and secure in their own environment. I also respect your home and keep everything clean and tidy while you’re away. I’m attentive, reliable, and will keep you updated regularly so you feel confident your pet and home are in good hands.
“Even though Elle is a dog person, she is also capable of caring for cats! Elle housesat AND cared for three animals at once which set my mind at ease especially when our travel plans did not go well. Elle is responsive, flexible, and kind. 10/10”

“Lynn did an amazing job taking care of my dog and 2 cats! They were so well taken care of while I was away for the weekend, and I could see that through all of the pictures she sent during her time with my fur babies! I will definitely be booking Lynn again, she was amazing with all of my pets, and I knew they were in very good hands with her!”

About: I genuinely love spending time with animals and treat every pet like they're my own. I've cared for dogs with different personalities, ages, and needs, and I'm comfortable looking after those playful and those who need a little extra patience and support. I'm reliable, attentive, and always make sure owners feel at ease with updates so they know their pet is happy, safe, and well looked after. Having had a dog myself since I was 8, I am confident with the work involved and I love walking myself so would welcome a tail-wagging friend to join me! Pet care fits well into my daily and weekly routine, especially right now as I’ve recently moved from Australia and am taking time to settle in and look for full-time work. This gives me a flexible schedule, meaning I can easily fit in walks, check-ins, feeding, and plenty of playtime throughout the day. I genuinely enjoy being around animals, so spending time with pets is something I prioritise and I look forward to the opportunity of having it be a part of my routine. When I care for pets in a client’s home, I make sure to follow their usual routine as closely as possible so the pet feels comfortable in their own environment. I pay attention to feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions like medication. I also keep the home tidy, respect the space, and make sure doors, gates, and anything else are secure before I leave. Most importantly, I spend quality time with the pet so they feel relaxed and cared for while their owner is away, and I provide regular updates so owners have peace of mind.

“Hugo was available on short notice to watch Cupcake over the weekend and made time before hand to come do a meet and greet. His calm and kind nature came across right away and I felt comfortable leaving her in his hands. Hugo was fantastic with communication, he sent me updates and pictures. Cupcake had a blast with Hugo and I wouldn't hesitate to ask him back!!”

Our fur babies were loved and very happy with Sarah! Even our skittish and slow to warm up pups were snuggling and giving endless kisses while we were gone. Our home was left immaculate and when our flight home was delayed Sarah made sure they were good until we landed. Highly recommend her services for home stays with multiple dogs including nervous/reactive pups.
Lizzy is our boys favorite person!!!! She truly is one of a kind. The way she loves and cares for animals really makes us feel so safe and doesn’t allow us to have any worries when we are away. She sends the sweetest updates and pictures. If I could give Lizzy more stars, I would!!! Thank you again Lizzy, the boys miss you already! 💓

Shannon is absolutely amazing. It was our first time using dog/house sitter services and we were a little nervous. Shannon put us at ease from the moment we met her. She is responsible, detail oriented, conscientious, and loves dogs. From the caring messages and photos she sent us every day, to the spotless house we came home to, Shannon exceeded our expectations in every way. She took exceptional care of our house and dog for a week, and we would not hesitate to do it again.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waterloo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waterloo walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waterloo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 79% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
