“Taiah is absolutely lovely. She’s been so easy to communicate with. I felt very confident and comfortable when we met her. She stayed at our place to take care of our dog Daisy and her cat Harry. We got updates, and sweet photographs. We came home to happy animals who were obviously well cared for. Thank you, Taiah!”

“Sydney is amazing. Out puppy KoKo is 13 weeks and can be a handful as is playful, busy and teething. Sydney took it all in her stride. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. Will book her again when needed.”

“Maddie was fantastic. At the first meet and greet it was clear she knew just how to manage my young, enthusiastic pup Maisie, and the whole time I was away she kept me updated with photos and messages. It was quite clear Maisie had a great time with Maddie, and I'll absolutely be booking with her again in future when I need a sitter. House was cared for and tidy when I got home, and most importantly Maisie was happy and healthy!”

“Weini gave me lots of updates and I heard good things from my dog park friends that pepper was vey well behaved with Weini! I trust them to take care of pepper and know she is in good care.”

“Josh was great! Helped me navigate the app as a new user and was flexible when our plans changed. Showed up early and was super kind to our nervous puppy (and puppy parents!!!) We would definitely reach out for Josh again when we are in the city!”

“Melanie took exceptional care of my cat, Hazel, for 21 days, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Leaving a beloved pet for that long is never easy, but Melanie immediately put my mind at ease with her calm, attentive, and genuinely caring approach. She was incredibly responsible, communicative, and thoughtful in every detail of Hazel’s care. I received regular updates and photos, which reassured me that Hazel was not only safe, but comfortable and well-loved. It was clear that Melanie paid close attention to Hazel’s routines, preferences, and personality. When I returned home, Hazel was relaxed, healthy, and clearly well cared for — which speaks volumes. Additionally, Melanie had also taken good care of my home, and she had thoughtfully bought me some treats; I wholeheartedly recommend Melanie to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and truly dedicated to animal care.”

“Stacey was very accommodating to both us and our cat Bowie! She was very thorough with her care and sent us a lot of updates while on our trip. We can tell that he really enjoyed her staying with him to keep him company. Can’t wait to book with her again! 🥰”

“Kendra is always great with Maxwell! Loved that she kept me updated with cute photos of my boy. She even made sure my place was clean when I returned, washed bedding, and bought Maxwell treats! Will definitely hire her again!”

“Not only was Megan amazing with our dogs but with us too!! She was quick to send updates and extremely pleasant to deal with at all times. We had Megan stay in our home with the dogs and she was like the best guest ever. Megan is sweet girl and we’d recommend her to anyone!!”

“We couldn’t be happier with Michael as our dog sitter! He was so attentive with our boy Apollo, truly treated him like his own. Michael listened carefully to all of our care instructions and made sure every little detail was followed, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. It never once felt like Apollo wasn’t in safe, loving hands. We’re so grateful to have found someone so trustworthy and kind and we’ll absolutely be using Michael as a house sitter again in the future! 😊😊”

“Our two mini schnauzers enjoyed an amazing 2 weeks with Briana, allowing us to take an extended vacation with peace of mind that they'd be happy and comfortable in their own home. From the start, Briana was friendly, proactive, and communicative as we met to assess fit. As our booking approached, we met again and had a lovely walk together to get a feel for handling the dogs, explore familiar routes, and discuss any final details about the housesitting and dog care. We got lovely photos and messages almost every day while we were away, detailing our dogs' exercise and adventures; we really appreciated all the open and friendly dialogue. Briana was a perfect guest and did a great job looking after the house; everything was immaculate. We honestly think the dogs are a little depressed to see her go home, but we look forward to booking her again for our next trips!”

“Jonathan is a nice person. He took such good care of Rosie. Rosie is only one year old and we wanted someone with experience and loved cats. Jonathan is the one. We were reassured of her care because he would send us photos of Rosie playing and cuddling with him. He stayed with her for 15 days and when she say my husband and I we noticed that she was happy. Thank you Jonathan. All our best, Gabriella, John and Rosie”

“Yuliya took amazing care of our sweet fur babies 🐱 + 🐱 while we were away! She sent lots of updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind, and when we got home, our cats were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. As an added bonus, our place was absolutely spotless when we returned, which we really appreciated. We would highly recommend Yuliya to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter for their fur babies while they're away! 🥰🥰”

“Sarah looked after our dog for just under two weeks, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. She was reliable, attentive, and clearly has a genuine love for dogs. Throughout our time away, Sarah made us feel completely at ease knowing Coco was in such good hands. She kept us updated regularly, and it was clear our dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. We came home to a happy dog, which says everything about the quality of care Sarah provided. We would absolutely recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter, and we wouldn’t hesitate to use her again in the future.”

“Sandy was awesome! She kept in good communication as we were a bit worried because our cat had been a bit bitey the last time we went away. She was able to handle Boone with ease and made him feel comfortable and not abandoned! When we came home we knew he had been well cared for. She washed out all his food bowls, played with him, let him in and out and kept him entertained and content while we were away. She was a truly a wonderful sitter and we will absolutely use her again. Thank you!!!🙏”

“Mala is the most attentive and generous care-giver! She asked lots of great questions and was clearly so capable. My kitty was clearly delighted to be spending the weekend with her, according to the videos :) He was happy and calm when I got back. As a houseguest, she is delightful - I am convinced she left my apartment cleaner than before! Would recommend Mala to anyone, anytime.”

Laura (and her partner, Nick) took wonderful care of my anxious dog, Luna. Laura provided daily updates, administered Luna’s anxiety medication, and carefully followed the routines and protocols we have in place for her separation anxiety. It gave me great peace of mind knowing Luna was well cared for and genuinely loved. Luna enjoys spending time with Laura and Nick whenever I’m away. I highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter, especially if you have an anxious pup!

Faolán looked after our house and two rescue dogs on very short notice, and she did an excellent job. She was calm and professional with the dogs, and they easier felt comfortable with her. Faolán provided updates for us with photos throughout her stay and we retuned to a clean house and happy dogs. I would definitely recommend Faolán and will use her again.

Charlotte was wonderful with Ziggy! She was attentive to all of Ziggy’s needs and little quirks, communicated clearly throughout, and was incredibly kind and caring. I felt completely at ease knowing Ziggy was in such good hands. I would absolutely book with Charlotte again. Thank you so much Charlotte!

Sydney was absolutely fantastic! She was caring, reliable, and kept me updated throughout the visit with messages and photos. She handled everything with honesty and professionalism, and it was obvious how comfortable she is with animals. My pets were happy and well cared for, and I really appreciated the peace of mind she gave me. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.

Another great experience with Paul and Katie staying in our home with our cat Olive. Olive is a rescue with diabetes who needs insulin twice daily. She can take a bit to warm up to people because of her difficult past, but she loves Paul and Katie. It’s a load off my mind to have such diligent caretakers watching over her. They keep us regularly updated with photos also which I love. Plus our house is left spotless when we return to a relaxed cat!

Stacey was fantastic again. This time we had her house sit our dogs while away for a week and we couldn’t be happier with her care. Checked in daily. With pics and a recap of the day! Could tell the dogs were cared for and enjoyed her stay even with the heat wave. Highly recommend her for walks, overnights or whatever care your dog needs

Daniel was amazing with our dogs! He was reliable, caring, and kept us updated while we were away. We felt very comfortable knowing they were in good hands. Our dogs were happy and well taken care of. We had a great experience with him and would definitely book his services again. Highly recommended!

Zen was super friendly and great with Milou. Although Milou is shy to warm up with anyone new, he spent the full day with Zen and was very well cared for. Zen offered great communication throughout the stay with Milou, walked and fed Milou, and overall offered exactly what I needed to know that my dog was in good hands! Will definitely book again.

Wenqi was absolutely amazing with my kitten Loki! It was my first time ever having a cat sitter and Wenqi did a great job making the process simple and stress free. Loki had an emergency the day before. He swallowed a ribbon. Vet said it should pass through his stool. Wenqi went the extra mile and checked the stool and confirmed the ribbon came out, while I was away. She sent lots of pics and daily reports. I would definitely leave Loki with Wenqi again.

Tara was absolutely amazing! She took amazing care of my cat, Willy. She took the time to come visit before the stay, asked all the right questions, and made me so comfortable leaving our cat and home in her care. During the stay she provided daily updates and took a ton of pictures. It was great to rest easy knowing our kitty was in great hands. Would certainly book again!

Briana is a great dogsitter she stayed with my puppy for a full day and was very gentle and patient (I have a very energetic puppy who is teething 😅). She sent me regular updates and pictures which I really appreciated! Sunny was cared for and loved! Would definitely request her services again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in East York on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,083 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East York. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East York walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
