I needed to travel urgently, and Rahrah had a cone on. She was feeling vulnerable and not eating well. Josh accepted the sitting on a very short notice, and helped motivate her to eat better with a few smart tricks. Highly recommended

Marg was fantastic! She is very knowledgeable, kind and loving! She took great care of our dog and our house while we were away. It was reassuring to have someone experienced and dependable looking after our pup! She sent pictures every day and took him out sometimes up to four walks a day. We came home to a sparklingly clean house and she even cooked dinner for the whole family! It was so nice to come back to a home cooked meal after a busy day travelling. We can’t recommend Marg enough!

Umi was so amazing with taking care of all of our pets (4 of them!). They’re all very nervous around new people and have separation anxiety but somehow they were all at ease with her and even sat with/ cuddled her! I would highly recommend Umi to pet parents who wants a sitter than actually cares.

Our two mini schnauzers enjoyed an amazing 2 weeks with Briana, allowing us to take an extended vacation with peace of mind that they'd be happy and comfortable in their own home. From the start, Briana was friendly, proactive, and communicative as we met to assess fit. As our booking approached, we met again and had a lovely walk together to get a feel for handling the dogs, explore familiar routes, and discuss any final details about the housesitting and dog care. We got lovely photos and messages almost every day while we were away, detailing our dogs' exercise and adventures; we really appreciated all the open and friendly dialogue. Briana was a perfect guest and did a great job looking after the house; everything was immaculate. We honestly think the dogs are a little depressed to see her go home, but we look forward to booking her again for our next trips!

Sandy was awesome! She kept in good communication as we were a bit worried because our cat had been a bit bitey the last time we went away. She was able to handle Boone with ease and made him feel comfortable and not abandoned! When we came home we knew he had been well cared for. She washed out all his food bowls, played with him, let him in and out and kept him entertained and content while we were away. She was a truly a wonderful sitter and we will absolutely use her again. Thank you!!!🙏

About: I grew up with two maltese mutts, so I have plenty experience feeding, walking, and bathing them. I love dogs so much and would be happy to help out when needed! I am currently working part-time at a ceramics studio and taking one online summer course, so I have tons of time to cuddle and play with your doggies! I currently have no pets of my own, so all of my attention will be on your pups! I have a large, fenced back yard and live in a basement apartment with its own side door to the yard.

About: Hi! I’m Kait, a huge dog lover and proud dog mom to my Aussiedoodle, Sully 🐾 I know how important it is to find someone you trust with your pet — I treat every dog like my own, whether that means long walks, playtime, or just lots of cuddles. I have grown up with dogs my entire life and cared for them throughout adulthood. Whether it’s a rambunctious puppy or an anxious older dog, I’m comfortable with feeding routines, medications, and keeping up with training consistency. I’ll always keep you updated with photos and messages so you feel totally at ease while you’re away. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and comfort are my top priorities 💛 I work from home most of the time and have my own dog so we go for walks morning and evening with lunch and pre-bed pee breaks. I will only accept boarding when I will be home to ensure your pet feels comfortable and cared for. I live in a condo with my mini Aussiedoodle, Sully. We have lots of parks near us for walks as well as great dog parks in the neighbourhood if that’s something that your dog likes!

About: Since a kid I’ve had many pets in my life, they have a special place in my heart. I have over 10 years of personal pet ownership, and currently have a 2 cats. I have over 4 years of experience fostering complex medical needs from puppies, older dogs and kittens. I’ve fostered complex medical care animals for over 7 years. From bottle feeding new born kittens, to a palliative care dog to a blind bearded dragon! I’m comfortable with young, full of energy puppies/kitten to a senior who just wants to snooze. I’m experienced with medically complex pets who need some extra TLC, medication, and patience. I also have experience handling small mammals, birds and reptiles so exotics are also welcomed 😊 I am quite flexible! I can adjust for early mornings, late at night or somewhere in between. I am happy to provide a one time service or something ongoing. Your pet will be my centre, and I ensure that whatever routine they need will be followed to keep anxiety low and comfort high. If they need a bit of decompression, I’ll keep my eye on them but leave space. If they need to be Velcroed to me, I’ll be clinging next to them. I want their experience with me to best match what they are use to. I’m comfortable adjusting approaches as needed and think flexibly in my care is key! I want to work with you to ensure your pet builds trust with me as well as you.

Zen was super friendly and great with Milou. Although Milou is shy to warm up with anyone new, he spent the full day with Zen and was very well cared for. Zen offered great communication throughout the stay with Milou, walked and fed Milou, and overall offered exactly what I needed to know that my dog was in good hands! Will definitely book again.

Wenqi was absolutely amazing with my kitten Loki! It was my first time ever having a cat sitter and Wenqi did a great job making the process simple and stress free. Loki had an emergency the day before. He swallowed a ribbon. Vet said it should pass through his stool. Wenqi went the extra mile and checked the stool and confirmed the ribbon came out, while I was away. She sent lots of pics and daily reports. I would definitely leave Loki with Wenqi again.

Wow, we cannot say enough wonderful things about Arisa! We were so worried to leave our incredibly shy and anxious kitty Osha for 10 days, but she warmed up to Arisa so quickly. She gave us detailed updates every day with photos of Osha as well as any updates around the house while we were gone. We came home to a perfectly happy and content kitty, she acted like we weren’t even away - which was a first! Osha requires a lot of patience and time to build trust, but we could tell that she was very comfortable with Arisa very quickly, and started acting like herself in no time. A huge bonus that the house was clean and tidy when we came back, which is always appreciated after a long journey. We are so grateful that we have found Arisa to look after our kitty and home whenever we are away, and will absolutely be booking her again in the future! Thank you Arisa! We are sure Osha misses your company, too! 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Maddie took such great care of Winnie and Charlie, and our home, during our week away, and we couldn't be happier! From the start, she was attentive to their individual needs, including managing their separate diets and food routines. She even helped administer IV fluids for Winnie alongside our vet tech, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing Winnie was in such capable hands. Maddie treated our home with the utmost respect- she stripped and washed the bed linens, ran the dishwasher before leaving, and left everything spotless. It truly felt like she cared for our space as if it were her own. To top it all off, she sent lovely updates and photos throughout the week so we could see how our fur babies were doing. FAQs for House Sitting - East York

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East York on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 4,060 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East York. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East York walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
