“Janis is so great with our little dog. She is kind, patient and warm, and is also good at communicating with pet parents. Our selective dog already loves her and it's only been a few visits. There will be many more visits to come!”

“Huge thank you to Carolina and Enuar for taking amazing care of Billie for a day while I had a meeting out of town! Carolina was super responsive and able to accommodate late minute, and Billie had a great time!”

“Nikita took great care of my 1 year old Golden Retriever, Poppy. I received lots of updates and photos throughout the day and they went on several walks to drain energy. Poppy came home happy and tired and I know she was well looked after all day.”

“Katherine was excellent with my dog. I was nervous using Rover for the first time but she was great at putting me at ease. Great communication and lots of updates throughout the day. Coco will be back!”

“Wendy is fantastic! Our little pug, Bo, had such a good day. He was so comfortable and so well taken care of by Wendy. We would not hesitate to bring him back and I know he’s looking forward to the chance to go back!”

“This is our third time leaving Nico with Lida and she never disappoints. She sends so many photos and videos throughout the stay. It's clear she genuinely cares about every dog she looks after. Nico always comes home happy and completely worn out, which is honestly the best sign. We'll definitely be booking again! Thanks, Lida!”

“Charlotte was a wonderful host to Ruby. She was calm and inviting and provided just what Ruby needed for a short stay. She is a great communicator and responded to Ruby’s needs. I would definitely book with Charlotte the next time I need a dog sitter for Ruby.”

“Leaving your dog with someone else is never easy, but Jef made the whole experience stress-free. He looked after Chicco as if he were his own, with lots of backyard playtime, and a calm, relaxed approach that immediately put me at ease. I came home to a content dog and wouldn't hesitate to book with Jef again. Highly recommended!”

“Janice was amazing with my 3 month old puppy. She really understood what puppyhood is about and was accepting of his puppy ways. I felt like I was leaving him with someone who loved him as much as me. He came home tired and happy. We can’t wait until next time”

“Another great stay for my JRT Tom with Nancy and her oh-so-adorable dog, Ella. Nancy is warm, communicative, friendly, professional, and clearly a dog lover. My senior dog Tom feels so comfortable around her. Thank you so much Nancy, Tom can’t wait for his next stay!!!”

“Ivan was a great sitter who took really good care of my dog Cashew. He's quite shy and timid with strangers, but Ivan was very patient and allowed Cashew to warm up to him in his own pace. Ivan was also very responsive to messages, and sent me a lot of updates and photos of Cashew during the day. Cashew seemed quite happy spending the day at Ivan's, and I would definitely recommend him!”

“Pablo totally came through for us! Our dog had kennel cough, and he was available for doggy daycare last minute -- and our dog loved it. He and his wife kept us updated throughout the day, including pics of Junebug napping on his lap. She came back happy and excited to retrurn to Pablo's house the next day. I'd definitely recommend him!”

“I couldn't be happier with the care Sherry provided for my dog (Sadie). From the moment we met, it was clear that Sherry truly loves and understands dogs. Sherry took the time to learn about my dog's specific needs, routines, and personality, which made me feel incredibly comfortable leaving Sadie in Sherry's care.”

“Mariia was awesome! Our little girl was instantly comfortable with her. She came back home and slept- I’m sure she had such a great time. Mariia send us photos and updates in between- I really appreciated that! This was my pups first time with a sitter and we can’t wait to go back again :) (also super friendly- she adjusted our drop off and pick up times so kindly)”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - East York
Our dog, Polly, has now spent several days with Vivian and Drew. She's always excited to see them upon arrival, and tuckered out from her adventures when we pick her up. Polly is on leash reactive toward other dogs, so we really appreciate having found a sitter who only takes one dog at a time! Our experiences have been awesome, I can't say enough good things!!!!

Jennifer, her husband and dog Gracie were amazing with Matcha! I was nervous with leaving Matcha with someone from Rover for the first time, but Jennifer put my mind at ease. She provided regular updates and was very easy to communicate with. Best of all, Gracie is so lovely and seemed to provide a calming presence to Matcha, who is usually very anxious. We will definitely book with her again!

Charlotte was a wonderful host to Ruby. She was calm and inviting and provided just what Ruby needed for a short stay. She is a great communicator and responded to Ruby’s needs. I would definitely book with Charlotte the next time I need a dog sitter for Ruby.

Rodney and Sloop really enjoyed daycare with Pablo! Sloop is sometimes a bit of a nervous dog, but he really liked Pablo and kept going up for pets, even as we were saying goodbye. There is a park right across the street, which is awesome and it looked like they had a fantastic time there. When we picked them up, they were happy and relaxed.

Arnav was absolutely incredible with my dog Hugo! He kept me updated throughout the day, took Hugo on walks, and made sure he got plenty of playtime and attention. It was so reassuring knowing Hugo was in such great hands and having the best time. Highly recommend Arnav and judging by how excited Hugo was, he definitely can’t wait to come back!

Luna had an amazing time with Connie! She was well cared for, and provided lots of photos and updates. Luna can be a nervous girl, but Connie took the time and attention to make her feel comfortable! We got a photo of Luna asking for belly rubs, so I know she was very happy. Thanks Connie!!

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your East York commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 79% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
