About: As mentioned in my full profile, the last cat that my husband and I had was from the Humane Society, a black cat (Kookoo, pictured above), who had unfortunately been quarantined twice due to ringworm outbreaks during her time at the shelter. We had to learn patience and to understand her perspective—that being in another box (the apartment unit), despite all the care she was receiving while living with us, did not take away the distress from her previous life, and that it was our responsibility to care for her (which included keeping her litter-box very clean with up to twice-daily cleanings, keeping a regular routine etc.), and to understand and accept who she was, rather than expect her to completely heal from her past experiences just because she was in a healthier environment. I also have previous experience caring for my neighbours' and friends' cats, including a rescue with fearful/anxiety tendencies, a senior cat with hyperthyroidism, and a cat with epilepsy, and am used to following any medication schedules or litter-box(es) cleaning requirements you need in a day. Finally, I have also enjoyed the unique opportunity for community and social connection that cats can bring. A cat that we previously had (a chubby orange tabby) befriended everyone in our apartment hallway, and became a particularly close friend to our neighbour's young daughter. Cats can help neighbours look out for one another, and to better understand, in part, our lives and daily commitments, so that we know we are not isolated if we ever find ourselves in an emergency!
“Alice was accommodating and great at communicating! My shy little rescue cat LOVED HER and it felt so great to know my baby girl was taken care of when I was so far away. I’ll definitely be asking for Alice every time!!”

“We are so happy with the care and affection Candy gives our cat while we are away. She has taken care of him for a number of our getaways. We keep asking Candy because she is so reliable and responsive. We have peace of mind and always come home to a happy kitty.”

“Aly was everything we could hope for and want in a cat sitter/companion. She’s absolutely amazing and we felt incredibly at ease leaving Max in her care. Highly recommended if your pet is your little baby.”

“Melanie took exceptional care of my cat, Hazel, for 21 days, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Leaving a beloved pet for that long is never easy, but Melanie immediately put my mind at ease with her calm, attentive, and genuinely caring approach. She was incredibly responsible, communicative, and thoughtful in every detail of Hazel’s care. I received regular updates and photos, which reassured me that Hazel was not only safe, but comfortable and well-loved. It was clear that Melanie paid close attention to Hazel’s routines, preferences, and personality. When I returned home, Hazel was relaxed, healthy, and clearly well cared for — which speaks volumes. Additionally, Melanie had also taken good care of my home, and she had thoughtfully bought me some treats; I wholeheartedly recommend Melanie to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and truly dedicated to animal care.”

“This is the second time we trust Rachelle to take care of our kittens. Again, we were very impressed by her commitment, genuine interest in their well-being, and great communication. She also takes great pics and videos that we always love to see. We will for sure keep looking for Rachelle when we cannot be there for our cats.”

“Eleanor was a delight to work with, and my cat absolutely adores her! She passed along lots of updates and it clear that Teddy was happy, safe, and having fun while I was away!”

“Eric house sat for us and took care of our 2 cats Marcy and Leo. He did an amazing job with both cats. He provided updates daily and was able to provide oral medication to Marcy despite her being very difficult. He left our place spotless and went above and beyond for us. We expect to go back to Eric in the future if we can!”

“Josh did a great job of taking care of our cats Karl and Lionel! He was warm, responsive and easy to communicate with and he sent a lot of beautiful photos of the cats. They seemed to take to him pretty quickly and we came back to happy cats! Would recommend Josh and work with him again.”

“Sandie took great care of our 2 cats while we were away. We came back to happy, well-cared for cats as well as clean extra cat bowls and tidy litter boxes. Sandie sent lots of videos of our cats happily playing, which made us feel more relaxed while we were away. Would absolutely recommend Sandie.”

“We are just back from our trip, and our cats clearly had a great time with Mariana and Fernanda! Their visits included fantastic photos and videos (some of the best-ever pics of them!), and their comments after each visit made us laugh - we could tell they were picking up on the quirks of each of their personalities. Also, there was no stress because it was evident that Mari and Fernanda were keeping the cats healthy and entertained while we were gone. We will absolutely call them in again next time. Thank you both!!”

“Nikita was very patient with my two kittens experiencing their first “sleepover” and had lots of ideas to help them settle in to their new environment. I suspect they both ended up sleeping on her bed! I appreciated getting lots of pictures and messages updating me as I really didn’t know how they would react to their first night away from home. Will definitely bring them back again soon!”

About: I have over 12 years of experience caring for various dog breeds. Caring for animals has been my passion since I was a child. I am skilled in providing basic dog training, including proper leash walking, commands like sit, stay, come, and paw, as well as teaching dogs not to jump up. Additionally, I have experience caring for senior dogs with specific requirements. I have a medium-sized, super-friendly, and playful male dog named Zeus who loves to make new friends! He’ll be there to keep your pet entertained and have a great time together! I currently work as a dog groomer three days a week, a job I truly love and have been doing for a few years now. This shorter workweek allows me the flexibility to handle boarding, pick-ups, drop-offs, and pet care drop-ins, while also being at home to care for the pets I am boarding. I have a dog-safe apartment and a friendly, active dog who will keep your pet entertained and comfortable. Additionally, I have a crate available should it be necessary. Your dog will receive attentive care during their stay.

About: I'm a 40-year-old East York resident with a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing & Publishing, and would love to provide a comprehensive service that would also include a mini-story (with photos!) about the time spent sitting and/or walking with your furry friend. Signing up for Rover is somewhat returning to roots, back to when I first went to college, as I was a dog-walker (thinking of creating a business called Space Dog with a friend at the time!), on the side to make a bit of income. However, I recently said goodbye to one of my own best pet friends, a mini-aussie, this past June, who still had a bit of sass even after being 15-and-a-half years old. There is a special-shaped hole and void that never goes away whenever you lose your pet friend, and I also very much understand the specialized love, patience, and medical care that senior pets will require. Examples of senior caregiving / caring for animals with special needs have included administering ever-changing medications, ranging from antacids to probiotics to fish oil to glucosamine to trazodone etc., etc., changing diapers upon experiencing incontinence due to aging (and eventually administering daily medication to prevent accidents), monitoring weeping, non-cancerous tumours with weekly photos to check growth along with daily cleansing around a sensitive anal area, providing full-service care after surgery for actual cancerous tumour removal, learning patience when they slow down in general and experience mood-changes and decreased energy, cleaning up daily vomit when their tummies become very sensitive when they age, learning how to make homemade dog food from my mother-in-law to feed my senior dog, changing their feeding habits every few years to ensure good gut health as per vet recommendations, and sleeping on couches beside them or near to them to ensure they aren't alone and feel comfortable. I've also been around cats most of my life, and the last cat that we had was from the Humane Society, a black cat who had unfortunately been quarantined twice due to ringworm outbreaks during her time there, and as such viewed her time during the pandemic, living with her family (us) in an apartment, as, rightfully, another quarantine time. I also learned needle-felting around this time, and often needle-felted chubby animals, including the cat image attached below, to try and capture their endearing qualities. Finally, every animal needs patience, care, understanding, and support. I have been blessed by being surrounded by people for much of my life, including friends and family who have deeply loved their animals, who have sought to understand their nature and who have taught me how to do the same. My schedule is highly flexible, and as a special touch, I would love to send you an amusing short story/detailed narrative update after every visit (or end-of week summary including confirmation of any medication or behavioural changes, so you can ensure your pet is in safe hands.) Please also find attached a few references (and find their pet's photos in the photo carousel included here) to help you feel more comfortable with your decision to work with me! My schedule is currently very flexible during the week! I am free Monday-Friday, from 10 am until 3 pm, for one drop-in visit for your pet, or walk around the neighbourhood. Please note: drop-ins will include quick services (litter change, food and water refreshment, brushing / bathing, lots of pets etc.), and are not suitable for clients who are out of town. I have experience with separating cats and dogs during mealtime, crating dogs at bedtime, ensuring your pup knows to sit and wait before being served a meal, administering multiple medications at required time etc., so can follow your eating schedule and daily routines you have set up for your pet. If also needed, I am happy to groom your pet (brushing and/or washing your pet, brushing teeth, cleaning out ears etc.), change litter boxes/refresh water dishes, and, of course, dole out a pre-determined amount of treats when they have indeed been a very good pet!
“Carolina is really great all around. Her communication with us when planning Banjo's walks was fantastic and our dog, Banjo, took a quick liking to her. Booking Carolina to walk Banjo has given me such piece of mind. We will be booking Carolina on a regular basis!”

“Sarah has walked my dog Kima a couple of times now and I would definitely recommend her! Sarah is super punctual and Kima warmed to her immediately. Kima can be a handful on some walks (pulls at other dogs and bikes) and Sarah handles her really well. Thank you!”

About: I have owned or cared for all sorts of animals - dogs, cats, horses and had a pet Vervet monkey, a bush-baby, and a mongoose while living in Tanzania! These exotic pets were pretty special, but not the sort of pet I expect to see in Toronto. I have trained many dogs over the years and will reinforce your training regime while your dog is in my care. I love the outdoors, in all seasons. If you live nearby or your dog is staying over, I look forward to sharing the trails of Taylor Creek Park with them! I am semi-retired and have a flexible schedule. I’m happy to offer overnight boarding in my home or pet sitting in your home. I have a ravine close by for nice long dog walks and able to provide the exercise routine your pet is used to. My apartment is in a converted house with a private entrance. I live within walking distance of parks and the Taylor Creek ravine. In your home, I am a responsible, caring, experienced pet owner who respects both pets and owners alike. I have completed a course in Pet First Aid and CPR.
“Camilla has been walking Tobby twice a week since January 7th, and she’s been an absolute lifesaver! With work keeping me busy, I was struggling to keep up with Tobby’s daily walks, but Camilla swooped in and made everything so much easier. Tobby, being his usual curious and bossy self, has found the perfect walking buddy in her. Camilla sends the cutest photos of him during their walks—whether he’s sniffing everything in sight or striking his signature “I own this place” pose. It’s such a relief knowing he’s in such great hands and getting the care he needs. Camilla is beyond reliable, kind, and so attentive to Tobby’s needs. If you’re looking for someone amazing to care for your dog, stop looking—Camilla is IT. I can’t recommend her enough!”

Very patient as my dog is hyper and high energy and i was nervous about leaving him with a stranger for the first time but would totally book again if i go away on vacation. “Jason has taken care of my 7 month old puppy twice now. Once was a daycare and the other was overnight boarding. My puppy is overtly friendly with almost everyone so it takes her a while to calm down around people; I was pleasantly surprised to see her listen to Jason so well after only one daycare session with him. She was so calm and well behaved around him when I picked her up. I believe it’s reflective of his gentle but firm approach when it comes to handling her, and definitely encourage people to book his pet sitting services!”
