We recently hired Jahzara to care for our dogs while we were away, and she was fantastic! She took the time to meet our dogs beforehand to learn things about their routines , and we received regular updates and photos during our trip. Our dogs were happy and relaxed, which showed how well she cared for them. I highly recommend Jahzara for anyone needing a reliable pet sitter

About: With 15+ years of experience caring for cats, I understand their behavior, boundaries, and individual personalities. I’m patient with shy or anxious cats and attentive to those who need more engagement and play. I’m comfortable administering medications, maintaining spotless litter boxes, and ensuring a clean, low-stress environment. My science background helps me recognize subtle changes in behavior or health, so I can respond early if something seems off. I focus on calm, respectful care—earning your cat’s trust while keeping them comfortable, clean, and well-cared for in your absence. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, as I’m available nearly full-time—including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings. I structure my schedule around the pets in my care, ensuring they receive consistent attention, timely feeding, play, and any required medications. Because I maintain a flexible schedule, I can accommodate last-minute bookings, extended stays, and visits at times that best suit your pet’s routine—keeping their environment stable and stress-free. I prioritize a calm, clean, and secure environment tailored to each pet’s needs. In a client’s home, I follow your routine closely—feeding schedules, medication, litter or enclosure maintenance, and preferred play styles—to keep your pet comfortable and stress-free. I’m attentive to safety details like secure doors, hazard-free spaces, and proper handling during feeding or medication. I also respect boundaries, especially for shy or rescue animals, and never force interaction. With my experience and science background, I stay alert to subtle behavioral or health changes and act promptly if anything seems off. My goal is to provide consistent, reliable care so your pet feels safe and your home is respected while you’re away.

Randy was awesome with Winnie. Put it this way, when he first came to the door, she brought him a toy to play. She loved him right off the bat!! Great first impression! As the night progressed, he sent photos to let me know she was good. Got home and the house was perfect. Overall? A ten!!

We truly appreciated the regular updates and adorable photos; they gave us such peace of mind knowing Bruno was in great hands. They spent quality time with him, keeping him cheerful and engaged, which means the world to us. We’re so grateful for their professionalism and kindnes.

Mark looked after our two year old pup, Roux, this past weekend in our home. He had a great connection with Roux off the bat at our ‘meet and greet’ a couple of nights before we went away, and the questions he asked in terms of ensuring he was well acquainted with Roux’s regular routine and preferences gave us peace of mind that she would be well cared for while we were away. We sincerely appreciated Mark’s professionalism from start to end - he was always punctual, sent us frequent updates/photos/videos (which we loved!), was attentive to our dog’s needs (eg watching to see if she was too cold on walks, for example, and making adjustments where needed), and really seemed to care about taking great care of our pup. Mark, thank you so much for taking excellent care of our girl! We are so appreciative.

Rochelle came to meet us and Sophie at the same day and did an amazing job looking after our senior pup the next day. Sent updates, photos and came up with all kind of tricks to feed our picky eater. We really appreciate your help, Richelle!

About: What sets me apart is my professional experience and deep understanding of canine behavior. For the past 4 years, I've worked with dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments at a busy dog daycare, where I progressed into a management role. I also spent 2 years volunteering and working at a dog training facility, gaining hands-on experience with puppy development, basic obedience, and behavior modification. I am certified in Canine First Aid and CPR, giving pet parents added peace of mind that their dogs are in safe and capable hands. In addition, I am a certified Canine Social Behaviorist, which allows me to better understand dog body language, social interactions, and individual needs. Whether I'm caring for a playful puppy, an energetic adolescent, or a senior dog requiring extra patience and attention, I strive to provide a safe, structured, and loving environment where every dog feels comfortable, happy, and cared for like family. Pet care is already a major part of my daily life. Having worked with dogs professionally for the past 4 years, caring for animals has become second nature to me. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to dedicate plenty of time to walks, playtime, feeding, enrichment activities, and providing companionship. I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors, so incorporating dog walks and exercise into my day is something I genuinely look forward to. I also understand the importance of maintaining a pet's routine, and I make every effort to keep feeding schedules, exercise, and care consistent to help pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. Caring for animals isn't just a job for me—it's something I'm passionate about and enjoy every day. Whether I am caring for pets in your home or just dog walking, my priority is always providing a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment while maintaining the routine they are familiar with. I take the time to learn each pet's individual needs, including feeding schedules, exercise requirements, medications, training cues, and any special instructions. During visits, I ensure pets receive plenty of attention, enrichment, playtime, and exercise appropriate for their age and energy level. I also closely monitor their behavior and well-being to make sure they are happy, healthy, and comfortable. With my background working in dog daycare, training, and canine behavior, I am experienced with dogs of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels. I am comfortable caring for puppies who need structure and consistency, as well as senior dogs who may require extra patience, monitoring, or medication administration. I believe communication is important, so I provide regular updates, photos, and messages to give owners peace of mind while they are away. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, loved, and cared for as if they were my own. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to house them at my place as my own dog is not very fond of new dogs.

Did a fantastic job housesitting our cat while we were away. Very responsive, flexible and attentive. She started out with an initial visit which went well. Poe was well provided for and tired from all the playing and attention he was given which is saying something for him. Could not recommend her more, and will definitely be booking again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Pickering

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Pickering on Rover is $64.2 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,565 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Pickering. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pickering maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pickering walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pickering choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
