About: I have taken care of many family and friends dogs and cats before, sometimes for a few hours, but also for a week or more. Since I am semi-retired I have very flexible hours to care for you pets. Daytime walks are easy for me to fit in to my day since I currently don't work. No in home care provided at this time. I will treat your home and pets with respect and love as though they were my own.
About: I am a dog-adorer! I have always had 4 legged family members because I grew up with dogs. My family has always been the designated neighborhood 'vet' for all pets. I currently work from home and have a great deal of flexibility. I can structure my days to fit around play and potty schedules to keep your pet on a routine. I know that dogs crave stability and I can fill in to provide that safety net to maintain that routine I have years of experience caring for dogs of various breeds, ages and sizes. As a result I am able to understand body language an various stages of a dog's life and prioritize those needs.
“Jennifer was incredible. Ninja is an anxious cat who needs lots of attention, and she went above and beyond in making sure he felt safe and content. Communication was excellent, with lots of adorable photo updates. We came home to a happy cat, clean home and a sweet note! We highly recommend Jennifer!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Ife! He stayed and our home with our dog (Rosie) while we were away was professional, caring, and kept us updated with daily photos and messages. Rosie was happy and well taken care of. Would definitely recommend Ife and would use his services again.”

“This was my first time ever using a pet sitter, as our dogs have always stayed at a kennel. But due to an unexpected emergency surgery for our female American Bully right before our international trip, we had no choice but to find in‑home care. I was nervous, to say the least — two 100‑lb bullies, one recovering from surgery with sutures still in, and five days out of the country. Rachel was everything we hoped for and more. She stayed in our home and cared for both of our pups with an incredible level of attention, patience, and genuine affection. Our girl needed extra monitoring to make sure she didn’t run, jump, or get too excited, and Rachel handled her recovery with such calm, thoughtful care that I felt completely at ease. I received daily updates and photos — not just quick snapshots, but real moments of our dogs looking relaxed, happy, and completely comfortable with her. Whether they were resting with their heads in her lap or enjoying treats she thoughtfully purchased (with my permission), it was clear they adored her. Traveling while your pet is recovering from surgery is stressful, but Rachel made it possible for us to enjoy our trip without constant worry. She treated our dogs like her own, respected our home, and went above and beyond in every way. I can’t recommend her highly enough. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and truly caring, Rachel is the one you want watching your pets.”

About: With 15+ years of experience caring for cats, I understand their behavior, boundaries, and individual personalities. I’m patient with shy or anxious cats and attentive to those who need more engagement and play. I’m comfortable administering medications, maintaining spotless litter boxes, and ensuring a clean, low-stress environment. My science background helps me recognize subtle changes in behavior or health, so I can respond early if something seems off. I focus on calm, respectful care—earning your cat’s trust while keeping them comfortable, clean, and well-cared for in your absence. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, as I’m available nearly full-time—including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Because I maintain a flexible schedule, I can accommodate last-minute bookings, extended stays, and visits at times that best suit your pet’s routine—keeping their environment stable and stress-free. I prioritize a calm, clean, and secure environment tailored to each pet’s needs. In a client’s home, I follow your routine closely—feeding schedules, medication, litter or enclosure maintenance, and preferred play styles—to keep your pet comfortable and stress-free. I’m attentive to safety details like secure doors, hazard-free spaces, and proper handling during feeding or medication. I also respect boundaries, especially for shy or rescue animals, and never force interaction. With my experience and science background, I stay alert to subtle behavioral or health changes and act promptly if anything seems off. My goal is to provide consistent, reliable care so your pet feels safe and your home is respected while you’re away.
About: I grew up on a farm with tons of animals in Port Hope🐑! So I have lots of experience with pet care and livestock. I have also been dog walking and pet sitting for 5 years outside of Rover. I’ve cared for many senior dogs, and have a lot of experience with different energy level breeds. (For boarding I will only take small dogs under 40lbs) I’m still in school, but I’m free after 12PM on weekdays, and all day on weekends. Please message me so we can find a schedule that works best for you and your pet :) For pet sitting, I am super detail oriented and personally feed my cat raw, so I can be trusted with home-made food and commercial. As I have a very anxious cat, I prefer to not pet sit at my house.

About: I spent 12 years caring for my family cat and learned how to keep pets safe, calm, and happy. I’m patient, responsible, and committed to excellent care. I work full‑time, but I’m available for pet care from Thursday to Saturday and can accept same‑day bookings. On Wednesdays, I’m available after 6 PM. If voluntary time off is available at 3 PM, I can leave work then and arrive shortly after if a client needs care on Wednesday. My dad is allergic, so dogs can’t enter my home. Robyn was an absolutely fantastic sitter for our dog, Grady. From the very first interaction, her communication was excellent — clear, prompt, and thoughtful — which immediately put us at ease. She was always punctual and incredibly reliable, and it was obvious how genuinely kind and caring she is with animals. Grady absolutely adored her! It’s clear Robyn has a natural connection with dogs and really takes the time to understand their personalities and needs. Knowing he was so comfortable and happy with her meant the world to us. On top of everything, Robyn completely surprised us with a beautiful hand-drawn portrait of Grady. It was such a thoughtful and personal gesture that truly went above and beyond anything we expected. If you’re considering booking Robyn, don’t hesitate — she is wonderful. She is trustworthy, communicative, caring, and clearly passionate about the dogs she looks after. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her and will absolutely be booking with her again. Highly, highly recommend!

Lauren and her family were absolutely wonderful! They treated our dog like one of their own and made sure she was so well cared for. We got regular updates and tons of cute pictures, which I loved. I’d definitely have Lauren watch her again and totally recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, reliable dog sitter

FAQs for House Sitting - Ajax
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ajax on Rover is $62.16 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,488 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ajax. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ajax maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ajax walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ajax choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
