“Val was amazing with Echo!!! She took care of all his needs and played with him tons! We had lots of daily updates, pictures and videos and could rest assured that he is in the best hands while we were away on our trip. Would definitely rebook. Thanks so much Val!”

“Holly took amazing care of our Wy-guy and our house while we were away. She provided very nice updates daily and lots of pics. We will be definitely booking with her again to care for our pup!!!”

“This was my first time ever using a pet sitter, as our dogs have always stayed at a kennel. But due to an unexpected emergency surgery for our female American Bully right before our international trip, we had no choice but to find in‑home care. I was nervous, to say the least — two 100‑lb bullies, one recovering from surgery with sutures still in, and five days out of the country. Rachel was everything we hoped for and more. She stayed in our home and cared for both of our pups with an incredible level of attention, patience, and genuine affection. Our girl needed extra monitoring to make sure she didn’t run, jump, or get too excited, and Rachel handled her recovery with such calm, thoughtful care that I felt completely at ease. I received daily updates and photos — not just quick snapshots, but real moments of our dogs looking relaxed, happy, and completely comfortable with her. Whether they were resting with their heads in her lap or enjoying treats she thoughtfully purchased (with my permission), it was clear they adored her. Traveling while your pet is recovering from surgery is stressful, but Rachel made it possible for us to enjoy our trip without constant worry. She treated our dogs like her own, respected our home, and went above and beyond in every way. I can’t recommend her highly enough. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and truly caring, Rachel is the one you want watching your pets.”

“Jennifer was incredible. Ninja is an anxious cat who needs lots of attention, and she went above and beyond in making sure he felt safe and content. Communication was excellent, with lots of adorable photo updates. We came home to a happy cat, clean home and a sweet note! We highly recommend Jennifer!”

I am currently on summer vacation and am available all day! In September, I'll be available in the mornings and after 2pm. I'm available on weekends, winter break, March break, and holidays all year. “5 stars+ for Abbey! Abbey provided amazing house sitting care for our 10 week old puppy, Millie. We were happy to receive detailed updates and pictures daily. Abbey went above and beyond when we received a call from our vet indicating Millie needed medication. Not only did Abbey collect the medication from the vet’s clinic she made sure Millie started the medication right away. We would not hesitate to book Abbey again!”

“Jess was amazing with my two cats. It was so nice to go away and not worry about them. She definitely went that extra mile to stay and take them out for abit in the morning and evening. I would highly recommend her to any pet owner looking for quality care. Thks Jess! 😊”

“Mayra is an excellent sitter. It was so reassuring knowing that Seamus and Parker were home safe and happy. I loved especially that Parker (the timid one) interacted and played outside. We were delighted with Myra's service. We will be calling on her to sit for us again!”

“Jessica was fabulous with our two giant breed sweeties!! I found Jessica’s communication to be incredibly prompt and clear, she provided updates and gave our girls lots of love and attention!! We are so happy with Jessica’s care and would happily recommend her to others!”

“Oh my goodness Lada is a true gem! Our dogs had the best time with her while we went out for an evening (I could tell because each of our 3 dogs slept through the night without getting up and even slept in a little the next day)! She sent picture updates and really just went above and beyond with making sure that everyone got attention and some good play time while in her care. Would absolutely recommend her to anyone with fur children.”

“If you have an animal that you love dearly and needs a pet sitter …. Diane is your person. Our dog will be 3 in October. She has NEVER been left with anyone other than the four people in our house. We would consider our dog shy and high maintenance. Diane came in with confidence and took such good care of our dog and our home. Her attention to detail is outstanding. Her love for animals is amazing and she left our place looking excellent. We had a stress and worry free 10 day dream vacation with our family. Thank you Diane and rover for this excellent experience! 😀💗”

“Arianna was fantastic. First she was prompt if not early on all meetings which showed incredible accountability. During our time away she kept us updated with picture of my Finn and was excellent at following up with any question that I missed during our meet and greet. Finn was clearly well cared for and returning home to a Tory house with sheets already washed and house clearly maintained was just Bonus!!! Arianna clearly did an excellent job and even kindly popped in for one last “potty break” for Finn at the end of her contract. I would highly recommend Arianna to others and will most definitely seek her services again when they are needed. Arianna truly was an incredible find in Rover!”

“Laurel arrived on time for the Meet and Greet and the house/dog sitting. She was personable, accommodating with changes and administering of extra meds, left the house in great shape and was very responsive to texts.”

“Stephanie was wonderful with our girls and kept us informed on how they were doing while we were away. The house was spotless when we got home. It was like she wasn't even here. We will definitely be using her againa”

Here's a smoother, more natural version that keeps the warmth and enthusiasm of your review: I can't express how happy we are with Jess! She agreed to take care of our boy at short notice and completely exceeded our expectations. Our dog, Ollie, instantly fell in love with her, and she treated him like he was part of her own family. She kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which made us feel so comfortable and reassured while we were away. We will absolutely be using Jess again and would recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will care for their pet as if it were her own. Thank you so much, Jess!

We are very happy with Jessica's time taking care of our husky puppy Freya (7 months) and our house. They seem to have gotten along so well Freya hardly noticed when we came home. Jessica continued with the training we had been doing with Freya. We got regular updates, and th house was nice and clean when we came home. We have already booked Jessica for our next time away.

Olivia was spectacular… highly recommend! She stayed in our home with our two dogs for 1.5 weeks while we were away. It went smoother than we could’ve imagined, and it allowed us to really enjoy our trip. The bond that she created with them is strong because of her gentle, nurturing and caring soul. She sent update pictures and videos throughout - and we could tell our dogs were beyond comfortable and satisfied. She seamlessly integrated into their schedule as if she has known them (and us) for a long time. She’s truly a natural with dogs. Olivia is highly responsible, reliable, and very kind. We look forward to booking with her every time!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oshawa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oshawa walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oshawa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 83% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
