Val was awesome! She came before the stay for a meet & greet, where we reviewed our cats (Athena's) needs and showed Val everything she would need during her stay. When the day came, she was right on time! She provided photo's thoughout the stay, and our girl looked so happy and loved the whole time. Athena received cuddles, play time, brushings and Val was even comfortable enough to help clean up our cat who suffers from congestion problems and often has a dirty face. When we got back from our weekend away Athena was not stressed, her coat looked beautiful and she was so cheery. We can't wait to hire Val again for our next time away!

Jessica was a sweetheart with our Jona. Upon her arrival she let him lead on how much contact he wanted at his pace. She was very gentle with him and he took to her quickly. While we were out, she matched his energy and kept us updated with how it was going. We would definitely recommend Jessica and plan to call on her again next time we need a sitter.

About: I rescued my first cat when I was 10 years old, and I’ve taken care of cats ever since. I currently have 3 kitties that are 13, 8, and 3 years old. My sister also has a 6 year old Australian Shepherd who I have helped care for since he was a puppy. We have been on many hike adventures, had too many slumber parties to count, and I’ve even picked him up and cared for him post surgery. I am an animal lover, kind person, and can follow instruction. I genuinely care about animals and have deep respect for the bond one has with their beloved pet. I’m currently working part time, usually in the mornings. I can check in on your animals any day , but can only accept a pet visit that fits around my work schedule. I will try my best to match with the schedule you are looking for. I will follow all instruction I am given to care for your pet in your home and will lead with respect, attention to detail, and the upmost care.

5 stars+ for Abbey! Abbey provided amazing house sitting care for our 10 week old puppy, Millie. We were happy to receive detailed updates and pictures daily. Abbey went above and beyond when we received a call from our vet indicating Millie needed medication. Not only did Abbey collect the medication from the vet’s clinic she made sure Millie started the medication right away. We would not hesitate to book Abbey again!

About: What can I say? I love pets! I am friendly, responsible, trustworthy and professional. I've been house sitting (cats&dogs) for friends and family for 2 years now. My responsibilities would include: *Feeding *Walking *Grooming (brushing, nail clipping) *Cleaning litter/picking up droppings * Giving lots of love and attention (While maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of the owners home) I'm looking to expand my client list and services. I live in Oshawa area. I like to keep my younger fur clients active and engaged. I like to teach basic training and tricks. (i.e. walk training, roll over, shake paw, etc.) For my more mature/senior friends I like to promote exercise based on mobility/size/age. Every pet is different and deserves special treatment. I look forward to meeting you and your pet(s)! Caring for pets is a natural part of my daily routine. I make time each day to ensure every pet receives the attention, exercise, affection, and care they deserve. Whether it's scheduled walks, feeding, playtime, or simply providing companionship, I prioritize creating a consistent routine that helps pets feel comfortable, happy, and secure while you're away. I care for every pet as if they were my own, following their established routine as closely as possible. This includes feeding, providing fresh water, administering medication if needed, regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and plenty of love and attention. Whether I'm caring for your pet in my home or yours, I strive to maintain a clean, safe, and stress-free environment where they feel comfortable and well cared for.

Laurel kept our pets safe and happy. Our home was respected and extremely clean. After a long vacation, it was great to come home to a clean home, and all the pets and miscellaneous laundry and dishes were done. I have an older dog that needs more personal care, with one-to-one comfort. I feel that Laurel went beyond the normal care and gave our dog many snuggles along the way. My dog has dementia and I know for a fact that Laurel would have been up in the night with her, this did not seem to faze Laurel, for she gave me some tips to help my dog deal with the dementia better. We also have a McCaw that she never watched before, from what I could see, there were no issues taking care of an unfamiliar pet. You would not be disappointed if Laurel looked after your pets.

Arianna was fantastic. First she was prompt if not early on all meetings which showed incredible accountability. During our time away she kept us updated with picture of my Finn and was excellent at following up with any question that I missed during our meet and greet. Finn was clearly well cared for and returning home to a Tory house with sheets already washed and house clearly maintained was just Bonus!!! Arianna clearly did an excellent job and even kindly popped in for one last “potty break” for Finn at the end of her contract. I would highly recommend Arianna to others and will most definitely seek her services again when they are needed. Arianna truly was an incredible find in Rover!

FAQs for House Sitting - Oshawa

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Oshawa on Rover is $64.38 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,689 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oshawa. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oshawa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oshawa walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oshawa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 84% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
