“So impressed with the quality of service and responsiveness. It was so nice knowing my cat Mina was being well taken care of during her visits. I will be returning for more servives and will proudly recommend Danielle to my coworkers who also travel lots for work.”

“Alaia was wonderful with our pets. We were away for 3 weeks and would not hesitate to have her look after our pets again. She was exceptionally easy to work with and we highly recommend her!”

“Jingyu was fantastic! She kept me updated on everything, and I felt really comfortable knowing Bruce was in good hands. Bruce can be a little shy, but he even came out for her, which says a lot! I really appreciated the peace of mind she gave me while I was away. I would definitely book her again.”

“Tatiana was a fantastic pet sitter! We felt very comfortable leaving our bunny Delilah in her care. Her pictures and videos were so fun and reassuring to receive :) would definitely recommend her services.”

“Ernest was so kind, professional and conscientious, I was incredibly impressed! My kitten adored him! I noticed a huge difference - he was so calm and relaxed when I got home from work. I will definitely be rebooking, he’s been a lifesaver. Highly recommend 🙏”

“This was Hoora and Mehrdad's first time caring for Dorian. He's a placid cat, but shy and wary of strangers, especially men, so I thought he might hide every time they came. But by the second visit, Dorian was greeting them at the door and playing happily with both. They were great at keeping me up to date with pictures, video, and notes, and they also left everything so neat and clean that I never would have known anyone had been in while I was away. I returned to a stress-free cat and a clean, tidy home--what a pleasure! I'll definitely be booking with Mehrdad and Hoora again.”

About: Got my first family dog in 2020, a rescue with some baggage who quickly warmed up to every one and every thing around him. Currently have a cute a cuddly 3 year old miniature dachshund of my own, and looking to fill my summer off with some other fur friends! I’m a teacher with the summer off, so I have plenty of free time on my hands to check-in on dogs, as well as take them for a stroll! I live in a condo with a grass patch out front, so I take my dog outside every couple hours to potty and get his sniffs in. I usually take him for 2-3 walks a day, on top of his bathroom breaks.
“Arleth was so great with our senior cat! She was patient and very thoughtful with her care. She also took great care of our house. Arleth is super responsive and we highly recommend her!”

“Jensen did a great job looking after our cat while we were away on vacation - we booked her for 2 drop-in visits and she followed instructions perfectly and I am confident our car was well taken care of. She even went above and beyond to report an issue with our faucet and assisted with a quick fix. Thanks again, Jensen!”

“Patty was terrific! She took excellent care of our thirteen-year-old dog who had recently been very unwell. She sent us great pictures and updates and was very reassuring. I'll certainly hope that she is available when we next away.”

“Lol and Kam are amazing. They are knowledgeable about cats, was attentive to my cat, who like them immediately, consistent and on schedule with the visits. I recommend them and definitely will rebook them.”

About: What sets me apart is my professional experience working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments through my years working at a pet store. I always follow each pet’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and plenty of love and attention to help them feel comfortable and at home.

“Valeria provided great care for my beloved cat Kevin when I was out of town. She is a very attentive and caring personality. Me and Kevin had a great experience and would highly recommend Valeria's services!”

“Pedro took care of our cat Ella while we were away, and I must say, he did an excellent job. Communication with Pedro was top-notch; he kept us updated regularly, which gave us peace of mind. Our cat can be a bit shy and takes time to warm up to people, but Pedro was patient and understanding. He sent us adorable photos of Ella during our time away, which we appreciated. I highly recommend Pedro; he is reliable, easy to work with, and genuinely cares for the animals he looks after.”

About: Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with them, and I’ve never gone through life without having a furry companion by my side. Caring for dogs isn’t just something I do—it’s something I genuinely love. I started pet sitting and walking dogs as a kid, and I’ve continued doing it for friends, family, and neighbours ever since. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Toronto
I had Karen take care of my cat over the summer, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter. She is incredibly meticulous and always made sure my cat was well cared for. She sent me pictures and updates every day, which gave me so much peace of mind. What really stood out to me was that Karen not only takes care of cats, she genuinely bonds with them. She would bring toys and snacks to keep my cat entertained. My cat absolutely loved her. I highly recommend Karen to anyone looking for a cat sitter.

Elena was so friendly, reliable, and supremely cat-savvy. She was so patient and understanding with my cautious and anxious cat, never forcing affection and even bringing her own cat toys to play with her. Her updates and photos were also fantastic and detailed (she even picked up on my cats little habits in a couple of days that took me months to catch on). She followed all instructions to a T, and I would 100% recommend her for taking good care of your precious furbabies!

I feel so lucky that we were able to book David to look after our two cats, Pico and Minnow! We left town at the last minute and our usual cat sitters weren't available. David went above and beyond to ensure that he understood everything our cats might need while we were away. He asked questions we didn't even think of to make sure that he understood their dietary restrictions properly. He was extremely communicative, friendly, and always very responsive, sending us photos and updates while we were away. Our cats are pretty shy but he sent us photos showing them spending time with him. They were even asking for belly rubs. Our house was kept spotless and our cats were super happy when we came home. We will definitely book him next time we go away. We're both so happy we booked him through Rover!
Olivia took excellent care of my cat, Bunny. She meticulously followed the instructions provided and gave detailed notes about each visit. She was also quick to respond to messages, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. Bunny tends to be shy around strangers, but she came out of hiding after just a few visits and warmed up to Olivia; it was a great relief to know that she felt comfortable around her sitter. I would highly recommend Olivia as a cat sitter!

Summer did a great job of taking care of our three cats! They were well looked after, and we were able to be away from home with peace of mind. We have a cat who requires oral medication, which she was able to do without difficulty. We would definitely hire Summer again!

We were new to Rover, have three cats (one is antisocial) so we were overall a little nervous. This was our first time booking with Wenwen. She was excellent! We're very happy with the level of care and attention our cats received. The communication was great. We especially appreciate that we needed to make changes to our initial feeding instructions mid way (because we realized we gave too much food), and Wenwen made the adjustments quickly and effortlessly, while checking in with us. We highly recommend her!

Kam and Lok were absolutely wonderful with Zazu! They stepped in at the last minute and took such amazing care of my cat, completely putting my mind at ease while I was away. Zazu is a rescue and extremely cautious with new people — she almost never lets anyone pet her — but somehow they earned her trust and she even let them pet her! That alone says everything about how patient, gentle, and caring they were with her. Respecting her boundaries and making her feel safe. I’m incredibly grateful and would trust them with Zazu again without hesitation. Highly recommend! ❤️🐾

We’re so glad that we found Sam and Matt to look after our two kitties. We were apprehensive as one of them is very skittish and takes a bit of time to get comfortable around new people, but Sam and Matt are so thoughtful and knowledgeable about cat behaviour that she warmed up to them super quickly. They’re great communicators and kept us updated every day with detailed report cards, which we appreciated and looked forward to. We also had a minor health situation that required medicine to be picked up and administered to one of our kitties, and they were attentive and helpful about it. Overall, we’re very grateful to have found such trustworthy, affectionate, and reliable sitters for our kitties. Thanks Sam and Matt!

So glad we chose Miryam as our first ever pet sitter! She has a genuine love for animals and our cat Koi naturally bonded with her during their time together. Miryam followed Koi’s feeding instructions and provided us daily updates and a ton of photos of Koi that made us smile everyday during our trip. Miryam living nearby was also a bonus and we will absolutely re-book Miryam in the future if she is available! Thank you!

Absolutely above and beyond. Our front door lock was acting up, and this sitter spent so much time attempting to get it working on multiple days, until we could get the lock replaced while we were away. In addition, they were great with my cats, followed all the instructions. I’ll be booking them again if I can, likely soon.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Toronto stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toronto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
