“Lynne was amazing with Bailey, and she provided multiple updates every day, which I appreciated. I could tell by the photos and videos that Bailey was going on adventures, meeting people, and being well loved and well taken care of. Lynne was very communicative and flexible, and I would absolutely recommend her and will happily leave Bailey in her care in the future!!”

“Naomi is fantastic! She watched Cosmo and Neumos back-to-back while we were on vacation in Montreal. Cosmo has megaesophagus and requires controlled play and feeding in a Bailey chair, and Naomi handled it flawlessly. If you need a caring, responsible, and experienced pet sitter, look no further than Naomi. Highly recommended!”

“Thank you, Anna, for taking such amazing care of Luna and Cosmo! You went above and beyond to make sure they were both comfortable and happy. I loved receiving daily updates and photos, and your attention to detail and genuine love for animals really stood out. It gave me peace of mind knowing Luna and Cosmo were in such good hands. I highly recommend Anna to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter. I will definitely be booking again! Thank you again for everything! Luna and Cosmo can’t wait to see you next time!”

“Stephanie is great! She cares a lot about animals and is very trusting. She has a great personality and always smile! Thank you Stephanie for taking care of Enzo! 🙂”

“Annie was absolutely fantastic!! She took great care of our dog and followed all of our instructions for his care. He has a great deal of separation anxiety and usually when we come home he is stressed, but he was perfectly fine after his stay with Annie. Also, Our house was sparkling when we came home. I highly recommend her!!!”

About: I've grown up with large dogs my entire life, and don't mind handling one that is a bit more on the energetic side. I've been around horses since I was 2-years old, and have done barn chores and taken care of them since I was 11. I can perform basic first-aid and provide medications as needed, and I am willing to learn about your pet and their needs/habits in order to do what I can to provide the best care! Currently, I am taking a class that runs Monday-Thursday morning from 8:30am-11am, and I take care of horses on the weekends from 7:30am-12:30pm. I would have availability throughout the day on most days to take care of pets and perform the tasks that are asked of me. I have a pretty flexible schedule and am able to come walk pets almost any hour of the day. I will keep your house tidy, and don't mind a little additional clean-up if it is required.
“Gray is an extraordinary young man with a great sense of responsibility and a deep love for animals. He cared for my three cats and two dogs, and they adored him. He always kept me updated on what was happening at home and sent photos and videos. He understood exactly what my elderly dog needed, such as calm walks and medication. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that Gray cares for them as if they were his own. Thank you so much! This won't be the only time we see each other; now you're officially the one taking care of my family. REALLY THANK YOU!”

“My dog got way more walks than he does when I’m home, so he was a happy camper. Communication and photos were great, and my apartment was cleaner than how I left it”

“Madeleine and Fred took to each other immediately, making me feel incredibly at ease with leaving them together for a couple of hours! Madeleine's bubbly, animated, and friendly personality is particularly endearing, and her can-do attitude makes me confident in knowing that Fred is being left in good/capable hands! Would 10/10 rebook!”

“Sarah was great! I would highly recommend her. We have a new puppy and Sarah did a fabulous job looking after her. I know it’s harder to watch a puppy and she did it happily! We are going to have Sarah stay with our dogs again!”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets for longer than I can remember! Working at the Canine Club brought me great experience with caring for over 30 dogs at once, which included feed time, play time, and care. I worked overnights to insure the safety for each and every dog. Caring for animals brings me a new perspective on life, it feels me with so much joy and love! At the moment I work nights on the weekends and I’m not in school currently so I’m free for any of your pet friendly needs! I insure your animals get the loving and care they need while you’re away. I make sure they get to the walks they deserve and every ounce of my attention.
About: Hi there, pleasure to meet you! I am a certified Veterinary Technician, with experience working as a technician-aid at a vet clinic for 5 years now. As you can imagine my love and knowledge on animals runs deep! I am trained in a variety of areas on cats, dogs, horses, cows, birds, etc. I recently did an internship in Namibia, Africa where I worked with cheetahs, Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and goats for 5 weeks - what a dream that was! I am extending a helping hand to owners who need help walking their fur babies/dog or cat sitting to gain some extra cash doing what I love. Hope to meet you soon! I am freshly graduated from my Vet Tech program, while I search for my furrr-ever career, I've got loads of time to help with pets! I have 2 cats at home, Hendrix and Frangipane. They are indoor cats and my absolute babies. They are my little followers who are spoiled rotten. I've always had dogs growing up in my family home, although my apartment in Mtl does not allow dogs, or else I would have my own! I treat any other animal as I would treat my own!
“Sonja was amazing! She took great care of our boys and our home, and was super communicative throughout. It was our first time using an overnight Rover, and she put our minds at ease :') would highly recommend!!”

“Junya did an excellent job taking care of my 3 year old border collie, while I was on vacation. She spent 11 days dog and house sitting. I came back home with my dog happy and healthy. As well as with my house being well maintained and respected. Thank you so much!!”

“Fatemeh was beyond excellent. She took very good care of my kitten and my apartment for a week while I was out of the country and provided many detailed updates daily. I've already rebooked for another week.”

About: I've always been with dogs and cats my entire life, with my grandparents having dogs and cats my entire life and my parents dog for the last 6 years. I am currently a PhD student working full time during the week, but I can spend my weekends and afternoons with your pet(s)! Some weekends I will go into my lab, but I will be fully transparent when scheduling. My apartment does not allow pets, however I am fully able and willing to take care of your pet within your home or spend the day at the park. If you have any rules or suggestions within your home, I can follow these directions.
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and have experience caring for dogs, hamsters, and birds since I was very young. Growing up with pets taught me the importance of patience, responsibility, and understanding each animal’s unique personality and needs. In addition to caring for my own pets, I have regularly looked after dogs and cats for family members and family friends. Whether it’s feeding, walking, playing, administering basic care, or simply providing companionship, I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to provide reliable, attentive care and give pet owners peace of mind knowing their furry family members are in good hands. As a student with a flexible schedule, I’m able to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and overnight pet sitting, and I do my best to accommodate each pet’s routine. Whether your pet needs a midday walk, regular check-ins while you’re away, or overnight companionship, I strive to provide reliable and consistent care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. When caring for pets in their own home, I make every effort to maintain their normal routine and keep their environment calm and familiar. I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, exercise, medications, and household rules. I understand that inviting someone into your home requires trust, and I treat both your pets and your home with the utmost respect while providing attentive, loving care.

Jingyi was absolutely fabulous! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Her communication was amazing, and she sent me lots of photos and videos while I was away, which gave me so much peace of mind. I had very limited internet access during my trip, but she still made every effort to keep me updated, and I really appreciated coming back to all of her messages, photos, and videos. She took wonderful care of my cat and also left my home incredibly clean and tidy. It was clear that she was attentive, caring, and respectful of both my pet and my home. I felt completely comfortable having Jingyi look after everything while I was away and would absolutely book with her again. I highly recommend her!

I'm a repeating client for Denis' house sitting service. He took good care of all of our 3 kitties, feed them multiple times a day as instructed, and provides daily updates. His daily updates are regular and detailed, makes you feel at ease to know what's going on at home when you are away. He helped watering my plants too and took in delivered parcels. Highly recommended!

This was the third time I booked Matan to stay with my cat. As before, I found him to be consistent and reliable. He quickly established a good relationship with Jelly, who always seems content and relaxed when I return home. Also, my apartment looked great and nearly spotless when I got back. I highly recommend this cat Matan!

Heather was such a wonderful sitter for my cat Ivy. She took excellent care of her, made sure she got plenty of time outside on her leash, and kept me updated throughout the stay with lots of photos. I couldn’t recommend Heather enough—I’ve already rebooked her for an upcoming trip and know I will be completely at ease leaving Ivy in good hands.

Heather stayed with my dog, Little Koopa, and my 15 year old cat, Pesto, for 4 days while we were on vacations. Little Koopa is a rescue dog from Beyrouth with the intelligence of the Belgian Malinois and all the anxieties and fears that comes with being abandonned and living in the streets. This was the first time in 5 years that I had left her with someone she didn’t know. During the Meet and Greet, Heather took a lot of notes and asked very pertinent questions about the routines and the particularities of my two animals. She is very observant, very knowlegeable and respectful of animals. During our vacations she sent a lot of pictures and reports on how they were doing and the evolution of their behaviors as time was passing. I was worried about how Little K would react because she is so extremely attached to me (and vice-versa). The first night Heather woke up because Little K was crying…she got up, sat and comforted her with pets and gentle music for an hour!! She also noticed how Little K would feel much better after a walk so she took her out for walks more frequently. Heather gave me peace of mind to enjoy my 4 day vacation without feeling guilty knowing that my pets were in safe, caring and loving hands. She is also a gem personnality wise with a very happy and positive demeanor as well as an inquiring, intelligent mind. Her face is litteraly a smile and you can tell it is born from the inside of her being. I could not have hoped to have a better person to pet-sit. She is truly a gem! She also left my place cleaner than it was when I left. Thank you so much Heather for taking such good care of my precious buddies and for allowing us to take advantage of our vacations with no worries.❤️

Rémy was seriously amazing! I have a large dog with high energy, whom can be quite a handful but he was great with her. He sent me so many photos and was super communicative, and followed my instructions to a T. I will definitely be rebooking him in the future and I’d recommend him to anyone who wants to leave their babies in good care. Thank you Rémy!

Amelie did an excellent job with taking care of our kitty and house. She communicates clearly and sent photos and updates regularly without prompting. Overall, great experience and I recommend her highly to others. She has a special way with cats too, so I know our cat was very pleased to have her there.

Viktoriia is a caring, trustworthy soul. She had an instant calming connection with our aussie-golden who felt at ease right away. She took care of our house and dog for 2+ weeks, fantastic communicator, followed our care plan, and my dog was calmer than ever upon my return.

Lara was an exceptional sitter! While I was away, she sent me photos every day of Socks happily curled up on her lap, and it was clear he felt safe, loved, and completely at ease with her. Lara stayed at my home for three weeks, and when I returned, everything was spotless. She had even changed the bed sheets and taken wonderful care of both my home and my cat. She is kind, thoughtful, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I recommend her without hesitation!

My first time using Rover and I it was a good experience thanks to Enora. She definitely knows her way around cats. My kitty seemed to be comfortable around her and I was kept informed and sent photos while I was away. If need be, I will definitely use her service again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Montréal on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,113 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Montréal. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Montréal maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Montréal walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Montréal choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
