“I cannot recommend her enough! As a first-time dog owner using a sitter, I was naturally a bit nervous, but she completely put my mind at ease. She provided regular updates and adorable pictures of Mia throughout the stay, and it was so clear from the photos that Mia was happy, relaxed, and extremely well taken care of. She was also completely respectful of my home, leaving everything just as she found it. If you are looking for someone reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring, she is the absolute best. I will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Stéphanie took very good care of our two kitties during a week. She was respectful and professional. The house was pristine when we came back. I highly recommend her.”

“Morgan was great! She was quick to respond whenever we messaged her and she provided detailed reports of how our dog was doing at the end of everyday, complete with videos and pictures. Our dog liked her right away (and he doesn’t like everyone). I would highly recommend Morgan. Thanks to her we had peace of mind while we were away!”

“Adeline. Was able to come sit my elderly special needs pup with short notice. She was kind, caring and asked several questions during our meet and greet which showed she really cares about animal wellbeing. She communicated with me frequently throughout her stay at my place. Highly recommend”
“Tobias did a wonderful job of taking care of our Frenchie, Welly! They were very attentive; Welly required constant supervision as he's having a back issue. Tobias was available on short notice, which was very appreciated. They continued to send sweet photo updates of how Welly was doing. I would highly recommend.”

“Annie was wonderful and communicative. She sent great pictures of my cat and dog throughout the stay and made me feel completely comfortable about being away from my babies.”
“Je recommande les yeux fermés. La communication, le suivi et la gentillesse de Gen ont fait toute la différence. Assurément que je ferai de nouveau appel à Gen pour prendre soin de Thor”

“Junya did an excellent job taking care of my 3 year old border collie, while I was on vacation. She spent 11 days dog and house sitting. I came back home with my dog happy and healthy. As well as with my house being well maintained and respected. Thank you so much!!”

“Maire took great care of Zaza! She played a lot with him and he seemed very satisfied 😁 She also communicated very well with me and sent me a bunch of photos all the time.”

“We had Léa stay with our dog for a second time and we are SO happy to have her as a go-to sitter. Our dog had an upset stomach 😬 and Léa was wonderful about updating us, taking her out more often including in the night, and cooked some white rice for her to eat. Léa is responsible and kind - so happy to have her in my home and caring for my dog!”

“Yiran was super reliable and kept us apprised everyday with updates and pics over a two-week trip. She left our home cleaner than when she arrived. And my dog was so sad to not have her around anymore. If you want someone responsible who will look after your fur baby as your own, look no further!”

“Pamela was wonderful with Molly! This was our first time booking with her, and I was very happy with the experience. Molly clearly had a great time and when I came home, she seemed happy and well cared for. Pamela was kind, attentive, and made the whole process easy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to other dog parents and would happily book with her again! 🐾❤️”

“Mahalia was great with Goblin & provided me with lots of updates and peace of mind during a long weekend away! Even handled Goblin’s sensitive tummy & a bit of a poop mess which I really appreciated 😅 Highly recommend!”

“I cannot speak highly enough of Matan. He is kind, dependable, and a true dog lover. He took wonderful care of our elderly pooch Chilly for 2 weeks while we were out of the country, sending frequent updates and photos of her the whole time. He'll be the first person I call to take care of Chilly next time we're out of town.”

About: Dogs have always had a very special place in my heart. I grew up with Labradors and Boxers in my family home, and everyday was a very fun adventure 🐾 I’m the person who will happily stop mid-convo to say hi or pet a dog 🐶 and I’ve become the unofficial dog sitter for friends and family over the years. My current situation doesn’t allow me to own a dog unfortunately 🙃 But I have SO much love to give to your furry child - this includes way too many belly rubs, and making sure your pup feels safe, happy and very loved ❤️ So if you’re looking for someone to spoil your dog while you’re away, or take them out for a good walk, I’m your girl! 🐾 Fun fact: I’m also a professional photographer, which means your dog may accidentally leave with a small modelling portfolio 📸 Je parle aussi français. Au plaisir! Natascha I work from home on weekdays, which means I have a lot of flexibility. I can accommodate early mornings, late evenings and weekends as well 🐾 Communication, reliability and trust is key when taking care of your furry child, and that’s exactly what I bring to the table. My current living situation doesn’t allow me to bring big dogs in my apartment, but I’ll happily walk yours and/or dog sit if needed ❤️
About: *This profile is for both Marilyn & her partner Anthony* ***We are bilingual French/English. Vous pouvez aussi nous écrire en français!*** Mari has adopted 2 kittens in her adult life, and her oldest recently passed away at almost 18 years young, which Anthony had the chance to also take care of for several years. Mari was blessed with also being able to share the life of a sweet elderly French bulldog for several years, Anthony’s beloved companion for 12 years. Anthony has experience fostering 3 dogs (large mixed breeds). Over the years, we have also taken care of our friends/neighbours' cats and dogs when they were away for a few days. It would be our honour to be involved in taking care and loving your small pets while you are away for work/vacation, and make sure that it is a stress free time for all, as we know from having had several petsitters over the years the importance of finding one that is trustworthy to be in your home and to attend to the needs of your furry kids. We come with some "special" expertise (thanks to our previous lovely companions giving us lived experience, and the extensive readings we have done on those topics) regarding dog training, behavior management, CDK, cardiac disease, IBD, picky eating, post-surgery care, UTIs, pancreatitis, food allergies, arthritis, senior care. We can administer oral medications, including piling or syringing, subcutaneous fluids, transdermal (ear) medications, eye drops, nose sprays, and prepare meals according to your specific instructions, as we know that you know your pet best. We love cuddling with lap cats and dogs, going on walks in the neighborhood, and playing with pets. Looking forward to getting to know you and your little(s) one(s)! Mari works from home, so she can come and visit your pets up to 3 times per day. She has limited availability on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but might still be able to do 1-2 visits on those days. Anthony has classes in the morning Monday-Friday. We do not offer care in our home due to our building policies. However, we are happy to come to your home to look after your pets, in the environment they are the most comfortable in.
About: Over the past 7 months, I got the opportunity to do +14 housesits all over the beautiful city of Montreal, taking care of cats and dogs (and a lizzard and a rat). I truly enjoy getting to know all the different and unique characters. 🐾 Some couldn't wait to go for walks - others loved a little encouragement to keep going. From tiny dogs to a 55kg/120lb good boy. The youngest dog just turned 1 year, the oldest 15, the oldest cat 21 years old. 🥹 I am also amazed by the variety of beauty of all the different cats I got to know. Through this variety of pets, I also gained experience in giving cats and dogs supplements and medication (oral and in-ear). On my past travels I also helped a family in Pakistan with their cows and goats, and a family in Wadi Rum, Jordan, to feed their camels. It was such a beautiful experience - though I wouldn't say I am ready to care of them all by myself. 😄🐐🐪 I also took care of some puppies and kittens in the past. I am aware that this is a (rewarding) full time job. So I could only agree on that after having talked about the situation in detail. I am currently attending Language School, the classes are 1-4pm in downtown. Apart from that I work only, which gives me a lot of freedom in regards to time. I love to take longer walks, and it's even more fun with some furry companion. I also enjoy playing with cats and dogs - it's so much fun to know their unique characters. One thing is for sure: There is no cat or dog like another. I would love to take care of your pet in its known environment, which is why I offer housesits at the owner's place. I also enjoy exploring new neighborhoods. :)

Heather is a 5 stars dog-sitter. She took care of my two dogs while I was away for a week end. She is super reactive and will send you news about your little ones. I could tell my dogs were super happy to have her around for these three days. The appartment was left perfectly clean. Thank you again Heather!
I cannot recommend her enough! As a first-time dog owner using a sitter, I was naturally a bit nervous, but she completely put my mind at ease. She provided regular updates and adorable pictures of Mia throughout the stay, and it was so clear from the photos that Mia was happy, relaxed, and extremely well taken care of. Denis was absolutely wonderful with Paddington during his 4-day stay at our home! He kindly accepted our booking at the last minute during a complicated situation while we were abroad. I was quite stressed about everything, and Denis was incredibly kind, understanding, and reassuring throughout the whole stay. Paddington is only 5 months old and can be quite a handful, but Denis was incredibly patient, attentive, and caring with him. He followed all our instructions carefully and kept us updated regularly. He was also very respectful of our home and left the apartment super clean. We couldn’t have asked for better! We’re really grateful for everything. Denis is someone you can trust with your pet and your home with your eyes closed. We would absolutely recommend him and happily have him look after Paddington again !

We had a great experience with Matan and felt very comfortable leaving Mella and Winnie in his care. Both of our girls are quite shy, and Matan was very patient and intentional with them from the beginning, giving them the space to approach him on their own rather than forcing interaction. It was clear that he has a lot of experience with dogs and understands their different personalities and boundaries. He sent us frequent updates throughout our vacation, which really helped us relax knowing our girls were happy and well taken care of. Communication with him was always straightforward and easy. When we came home, both dogs seemed happy and well, and our apartment was left clean and tidy. We’d happily have Matan take care of Mella and Winnie again!

Chayse is an excellent sitter. Our dog immediately felt comfortable with her and she took amazing care of our pup while we were gone, not to mention our house as well. Chayse is communicative and respectful and we are grateful to have her caring for our girl. Thank you Chayse!!

Another great visit with Adriana! All the pets were very well cared for, they are all very happy from the second she walked in the door. As usual, Adriana took amazing care of our home. We loved the photos and videos she would send throughout the day, made being away from them much easier.

Maire took excellent care of my babies while I was away on vacation! She left my husband and I wonderful photos that ensured us she was engaged and proactive in their care, and gave us great affirmation that she was truly invested in their happiness. I felt beyond affirmed that she was the right person to care for our animals; it was evident even through pictures that they felt safe and comfortable with her ❤️

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Montréal on Rover is $48.15 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 1,118 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Montréal. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Montréal maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Montréal walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Montréal choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
