Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent and familiar as possible so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I follow instructions carefully, especially around feeding, walks, medication, and any specific habits or preferences each pet has. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual personality and needs, whether that means calm companionship, playtime, exercise, or simply giving them space and reassurance. My goal is always to make sure they feel safe, understood, and well cared for. I also respect your home and keep things clean and tidy, including feeding areas, litter boxes where applicable, and any mess from walks or daily care. I make sure to follow all safety instructions closely so everything stays secure. I’m certified in Dog and Cat First Aid and CPR through the Canadian Red Cross, and I’m comfortable with basic medication if needed. Overall, I aim to make things easy and stress-free for both you and your pets while you’re away.

Thoughtful care for your pets

Pet care experience

My style of pet care is warm, calm and attentive. I have experience with a wide range of pet needs. I genuinely take the time to understand each animal’s personality, routine, and comfort level so they feel safe and understood while their owners are away. I have experience caring for both dogs and cats across different life stages, including puppies, senior pets, and animals with anxiety or special care needs. I’m also comfortable with basic medication administration when needed and always make sure instructions are followed carefully. I’m certified in Dog and Cat First Aid and CPR through the Canadian Red Cross, which adds an extra layer of reassurance when it comes to safety and emergencies. Beyond the practical side of care, I think what really matters is how pets feel with me. I’m patient, calm, and consistent, and I aim to create a low-stress environment where pets can relax, trust, and feel at home until their family returns.

I have known Heather since university, when she first began caring for my puppy, Bosco. Over the years, she has also helped care for other family pets, providing walks, playtime, and general pet care. Heather is a caring, compassionate, and genuinely kind person who treats both animals and people with respect. What stands out most is the gentle way she approaches animals. She takes the time to build trust, help them feel comfortable, and respect their individual personalities and needs. She is also very mindful of owners’ preferences and boundaries, ensuring that instructions are followed and pets receive the care they are accustomed to. Heather is reliable, honest, and an excellent communicator. She follows through on her commitments, responds promptly, and adapts well to the needs of both pets and their owners. Her warm nature, professionalism, and genuine respect for animals make her someone I would confidently recommend to anyone looking for safe, compassionate care. She has always been someone I trust with my pets, knowing they will be treated with kindness, patience, and respect.

I can’t speak highly enough of Heather! As a proud Pomeranian owner, I’m naturally a bit protective of my little mate, Kilo, but from our very first walk with Heather, I felt completely at ease. Heather is genuinely wonderful with dogs—she really pays attention to Kilo’s energy levels, keeps him well hydrated, and always takes the time to let him sniff and explore at his own pace. It’s obvious she loves dogs and treats each one as part of the family. What really makes Heather stand out is her lovely personality. She’s so cheerful and bubbly! You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does, and her positive vibe is truly infectious. Kilo always comes back wagging his tail, clearly having had a great time, and I go home knowing he was in the best hands possible. The peace of mind Heather gives me is priceless. Whether it’s a quick afternoon walk or a longer outing, I never worry when Kilo’s with her. He’s safe, happy, and well entertained. Thank you so much, Heather, for being such a wonderful part of our little team!
