“Cassidy was excellent, the dogs liked her and she liked the dogs. She sent me photos, she was timely for everything and she washed the sheets and remade her bed. I would recommend her!”

About: I've been a dog owner since the age of 10 and have experience caring for dogs of all breeds and sizes. I enjoy staying active and love taking dogs on walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures. I'm currently completing a master's program at the University of Alberta, which gives me flexibility during the day for walks, drop-ins and pet care. My evenings and weekends are also open and I love spending time walking around the river valley. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I follow your routines closely to ensure consistency and minimize stress. I provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident and connected while you’re away. My goal is to create a dependable, active and enjoyable care for your furry family.
“Dionne was excellent with our girls ❤️ I was able to relax while away knowing they were in such great care. Dogs were happy when we got home, house looked great. Will definitely be reaching out for care again in the future!”

“Cecilia is a lovely human and was so nice to deal with. Our big goody dog was well cared for while we were away. She spent lots of time with him and going for walks. She was more than mindful of our home while staying, nothing was left of of place and she was very good to communicate with.”
“Nastassia was great. We booked her to pet sit our cat for 7 days. She is punctual, updated us with photos and our cat enjoyed staying with her. She is genuinely affectionate with our cat and also took good care of our house. Will surely rebook her.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for years through dog walking, overnight stays, and pet sitting. One of the first puppies I ever pet sat for is a dog I still care for years later, which has allowed me to build a strong relationship with both the dog and owner over time. Last summer, I started doing overnight stays for two dogs and gained experience with feeding routines, walks, playtime, companionship, and keeping dogs comfortable in their home environment while their owners are away. What sets me apart is that I genuinely love spending time with animals and always try to make dogs feel safe, cared for, and treated like family. I’m patient, reliable, attentive, and understand how important it is for owners to know their pets are in good hands. Pet care fits well into my schedule alongside my two part-time jobs. I work at a golf course in Bragg Creek and also do housekeeping and laundry at a hotel in Cochrane. My shifts vary, which gives me flexibility for walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays. I’m good at planning my schedule ahead of time to make sure pets get the attention, care, and consistency they need while their owners are away. I currently provide pet care in my client’s home, where pets are usually most comfortable and able to stay in their normal routine and environment. At this time, I’m unable to offer boarding in my own home, as the people I’m currently staying with do not allow pets. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent as possible through feeding schedules, walks, playtime, companionship, and overnight care when needed. I always try to create a calm, safe, and comfortable environment and treat both the pets and the home with respect and care.
“Another wonderful experience with Sherry ! Love having her watch our kitties for us while out of town. Feels so comforting to know our cats are in such good hands 🩷”

“Deborah was a delight to work with, she left the house as clean as it was if not cleaner and was communicative with updates and pictures. We hope the dogs took a liking to her!”

“Andreea was awesome! Sent regular updates and photos and went above and beyond every step of the way. Came home to a happy kitty and everything in tip top shape. Thank you!”

“Hailey is absolutely amazing, caring, & professional. She took incredible care of our dog Luna in our home while we were away and would book her again in a heartbeat for our next trip. She kept us updated with photos and checked in to let us know how everything was at home with Luna while we were away. Thank you so much for your wonderful care & love for our fur baby.”

About: I grew up on a farm, and animals are a part of our lives. Dogs and cats were a part of my life from puppy age to senior age. Usually, the animals on a farm were our playmates when we were children, and they played the role of the family protector. And now I like to do the same for them. I am pretty open. l keep my life simple and do not over-schedule. I like to keep it so that schedules run smoothly for myself and the customers. I work from home and I am in control of my schedule. I make sure I follow the clients directions to keep their animal safe, leashes on when needed, doors closed quickly, gates checked that they are closed. I do my best to make sure they don't eat anything on the ground.,I have 25 years experience with dogs and cats. Love throwing toys for the dog to chase and retrieve. And I have the patience to take it slow with older dogs on walks.
“Trinity was amazing with our 3 girls. They we all very happy, regularly walked and Patches, our senior, looked like she found her new best friend. We would have Trinity back anytime.”

“D was great with our pups. She kept in contact daily even though we had a 9 hour time difference. The dogs absolutely love her. She left our place cleaner than we did when we went away. We will definitely hire her again. We highly recommend her.”

I couldn’t recommend Maja enough. She is such a sweet, kind hearted, and such a thoughtful young woman. She was so gentle and kind to my pups. I’m always hesitant to have new people watch my fur babies but that quickly went away when she was with my doggos. She takes time, doesn’t rush to get in and out for visits, actually stayed and spent time with my pups and gave them plenty of love and treats. She gave me lots of updates throughout the stay and made me feel comfortable knowing I didn’t have to worry. Highly recommend! 🫶🏽

It was so awesome having Rachael look after Mia for me. She was very professional, friendly and I can tell she loves doing what she does. She wasn’t able to meet Mia during the meet and greet because Mia was hiding but when she came over she was able to convince her to come out with no problem. It was great to have so many pictures sent to me while I was away as I could tell Mia was happy. She left my home very clean and even put on and emptied my dish washer for me. I look forward to having her babysit again and I’m sure Mia will be happy to have her as well!!!!

If I could leave a 10 star review I would!! Cecelia was absolutely incredible with our dog and made the entire pet-sitting process so easy for us. She was so sweet and lovely and extremely attentive to our pets needs. I can’t stress enough how wonderful she was and I cannot give her a higher recommendation. We will absolutely be using her again to help care for our dog :)

Kiara was totally awesome. She looked after my two labs so well with daily walks and she even took them to a new park in Canmore. Kiara sent daily pictures and kept us informed everyday on how Bean and Ember were doing. I will definitely be getting Kiara again. 💗

Gina is amazing!! She looked after our dog and house better than we could have ever expected. We also had a last minute flight cancellation and she immediately offered to go above and beyond and stay longer and make sure our little Luka was all looked after. I can’t recommend her enough. We will definitely book with her again for all future travel.

HUGE thank you to Nevaeh! She took very very good care of my old boy, and on extremely short notice. I felt he was in really good hands and I felt comfortable during my vacation. Her and her dog stayed in my home for 6 days and the place looked amazing when I arrived back. She will be my go to whenever we are in need!

Deborah was lovely to have stay in my home and to look after my fur family. My dogs loved her on first meeting. She took wonderful care of both my dogs and my cat. I received pictures daily of walks and relaxing times around the house. I was very happy and felt comfortable leaving my pets in her care while I was away. I would definitely have Deborah look after them again in the future if needed.

Cooper and Mark gave our dog Lupin lots of happy walks. She obviously enjoyed their company and they treated our house as their home too. Everything was left neat and clean and Lupin was a very happy and healthy dog when we got home after two weeks. Thanks again you two for taking such good care of our Lupin!

Leanne & Herbert did an amazing job of taking care of our two dogs and two cats while we were gone for 11 days. They were very communicative and provided excellent care of our critters. I highly recommend them! They will be our first choice for care next time we go away.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cochrane maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cochrane walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cochrane choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
