“We have used Dale and Lauren for dog walking and house sitting, they have a natural way with dogs and do a great job getting your fur baby relaxed in their company. They ask lots of great questions to understand your dogs needs and whether they have any special requirements ie medication etc. We’ve booked them again for our next trip at the end of the year. Highly recommend!”

“Gwen kept the dogs very happy ! This was the first time we had used someone in our own home and were slightly nervous as our one dog has a bit of anxiety ! We were very reassured immediately with lots of pictures and snuggles with our doggies ! She left our place cleaner then when she got there and even went the extra mile and cleaned dog Toys that were buried in the backyard all winter covered in mud. Already booking our next weekend with her !”

“Our very first time using Rover in a super last minute pinch and we couldn’t be happier with Dionne helping us out! She replied fast on a late evening and was able to accommodate our two pups the very next afternoon. Our Doxie can have really bad separation anxiety and Dionne’s calm presence kept her cool and calm. I could tell when we pick her up that she didn’t feel stressed or anxious with us away!! Such a nice feeling and successful first stay with Dionne! The pictures of the pups relaxing with her helped ease any anxiety knowing they were happy and cared for. We would definitely rebook with Dionne again! 10/10”

“She truly goes above and beyond. She did everything to make sure my poor girl was comfortable as she was having some anxiety issues and she took every extra step to help her get through it. By the end they were besties… which also eased my mind. Was also a special sprite to come home to a house that was put together and dogs that were happy and excited. She will be permanent and regular”

“Andreea was awesome! Sent regular updates and photos and went above and beyond every step of the way. Came home to a happy kitty and everything in tip top shape. Thank you!”

“Stacey came with her senior dog companion My dog was thrilled to have a friend. They did get into a bit of mischief but had a good few days . Stacey was prompt and very organized. She looked after my home and my family of pets just fine. I would recommend her and her companion.”

“Teri is phenomenal. She is punctual and thoughtful and took excellent care of our dogs. One of our dogs is high energy and the other is a 150-lb puppy and she is capable of managing both without issue. I highly recommend Teri!”

“Sara was so easy to work with and kept our Joji safe and happy. Easy communication and photos while we were away, just great to see our little girl hanging out in her own bed and house. Highly recommend Sara. Thanks bunches!!”

“Shelby took great care of our fur babies! You could tell that they were well exercised and loved while we were away. Also Shelby left the house neat and tidy. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I recently moved to Canada from Ukraine, while my own dog, Oskar, stayed back home with my family. I miss him every day, and caring for other dogs brings me so much joy and helps me feel connected to what I love most. I’ve spent years looking after Oskar as well as dogs belonging to friends and family. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I always treat them with patience, kindness, and love. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away, and I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages throughout their stay. I work full-time Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Before and after work, I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, and love. I’m available for overnight stays, evenings, weekends, and longer bookings. I’ll always follow your pet’s routine and provide regular photo and message updates, so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I have a fully fenced backyard where dogs can safely enjoy supervised outdoor time. I follow each pet’s routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), and any special instructions. I believe every dog deserves to feel relaxed, loved, and at home while their family is away :)
“Great communication the entire time. Very passionate about this job, tons of pictures and videos and updates every day. Will definitely rebook when I need a pet sitter again, exactly the kind of person I'd want watching my pets”

“All the animals were well taken care of & stress free. Ashton was very good to them & was attentative to what the animals were up to & where they were. Ashton was also very respectful of our house & went beyond what we expected.”

“Anastasiia is amazing. We booked her last minute for a two week stay after our cat injured himself and needed more care while we were away. We were very anxious about traveling while he was hurt and needed vet checks. From the moment we met, we could tell that she truly loves and understands animals. She took such great care of all of our pets including our injured cat who required daily medication, our other two cats and our small dog. We received frequent communication and pictures. I could tell that our pets were loved, happy and very comfortable. It allowed us to go on our vacation with absolute peace of mind. I can’t say enough good things about Anastasiia.”

“I’m very happy that Laurie was able to come and look after Mia and my house while I was away. I could tell right from the meet and greet that she was going to care for Mia the same way that I do. She communicated with me daily and I felt at ease that Mia was in good hands and that I could enjoy my vacation fully. I would highly recommend her!!!”

“Felix and Rachel were absolutely amazing, they took very good care of our 8 month old Great Dane puppy. They ensured that she had enough exercise, even took her on little outings that she absolutely loved! Highly recommend Felix and Rachel!”

“Tyler is wonderful! We connected with him months in advance to ensure he was a fit for our needs. He took the time to meet us and then later, join us for a walk before his stay to understand the routes and needs/leash reactivity of our pup. He responds quickly and communicates effectively. He just had his first stay with our pup & they both survived! He is respectful, neat and clean! We are grateful to have established this connection. Thanks Tyler, see you soon!”

“Lucie was great with my dogs, they can be a handful, so it was nice to have someone come and stay in my home with them. She sent photos and updates throughout the weekend. And I came home to happy dogs and a clean house!”

About: Hello! I’m Brooke and I am a recent university graduate with a passion for animals. I am currently a month post-op from ACL reconstruction surgery and quickly recovering! As I am getting sturdy on my feet it brings me joy caring for beloved pets even if that only means kitties and smaller furry friends in this initial stage of recovery. I currently spend most of my time with my two dogs and my cat and I would love to extend my care to your pets! I have cared for cats and dogs in my own home for 11 years. I spent one year volunteering at Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society at their cat shelter where I cared for the cats, fed them, and cleaned their kennels. Additionally, I have had dogs in my home my whole life and I have experience walking, feeding, bathing, and caring for them! I currently have flexible hours during every day of the week. I have the odd commitment here and there during the week, but I can otherwise provide full availability! I love all animals and I respect that each one is different and has different needs. I am patient with all cats and dogs and I am happy to cater to their specific needs and respect their comfort levels!
About: 🐾 About Me Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I have extensive hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and reptiles, and I've spent years pet-sitting for friends and family while always sharing my home with animals of my own. I currently have two cats and 2 dogs, all rescues, and definitely all the best decisions I ever made! :) 🐕 My Experience In addition to caring for my own pets and pet sitting for friends and family, I have volunteered in civilian rescue and transport for high-risk dogs and served as a volunteer cat caregiver with AARCS. 😊 The Rescue of Sally and Her Puppies. I rescued and transported a lot of dogs and cats over the past few years, but the biggest undertaking was helping rescue a mother dog, who we later named Sally, and her 8 one-day-old puppies from a reserve in Alberta during -38°C temperatures. I transported this special fur family to my dog trainer's acreage where we set up a secure, safe, warm area. I learned how to care for them and help with early socialization, structure, and training to prepare them for life with their future families. Every puppy, and Sally herself, has since been adopted into loving, forever homes. Being part of something like this was definitely one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life! I am in a position with much flexibility and availability in my schedule, allowing me to easily accommodate most booking requests with little advanced notice. ❤️ Your Pet Is Family Every pet parent should have worry-free, stress-free pet care. I will treat your animals with the same love, and your home with the same respect, as I do my own. I understand that every animal, just like people, is unique. I'll take the time to earn their trust, understand their needs, likes, and dislikes, so they will be well cared for, and they will get an abundance of fun and cuddles! Whether we're going for a walk, playing in the yard, or simply keeping each other company while you're away, you will receive photos and messages during our visits so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your fur-baby is in caring, capable hands.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carstairs maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carstairs walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carstairs choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
