“Lauren was amazing with my dog Hippo! She went above and beyond for what I was expecting when it comes to watching him and worked really hard to keep him calm when I was away at work. Would recommend her to anyone who needs their pup watched!”

“Kaitlyn watched both of our dogs and she was absolutely awesome. Our dogs are big and have a lot of energy, we loved getting videos and photos during our time away of them playing! There were consistent updates, which we really appreciated. They were both spoiled with treats! When we came home our pups were so happy and our house was super clean!”

“Très bonne communication avec Anne tout au long de son séjour. Douce, gentille et rassurante! Elle envoie des photos et nous avise de comment tout se passe ! numéro un comme gardienne pour notre petite sphynx Gabi 🩷”

“Hailey was an absolute delight. From the moment I met her, I felt confident she was the perfect person to care for my fur baby. She connected with my dog immediately, and my dog did not want to leave her side. Dogs are a great judge of character, and it was clear right away that Hailey is kind, trustworthy, and caring. Her communication throughout the stay was excellent, and she regularly sent updates and photos, which gave me great peace of mind while I was away. My dog absolutely adored her and was genuinely sad to see her leave. I would not hesitate to hire Hailey again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care.”

“Borys & Purity were great. The dogs loved them and their energy they bring to the sit. They took good care of our dogs, fed them on time and went for a long walk. Chewy & Nova are lap dogs so loved the cuddles. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing their house and dogs taken care of while they are away.”

“Nicholas did a stellar job of taking care of our doggos. Keeping us up-to-date with pics and updates made us feel so much comfort! We would definitely recommend Nicholas for dog sitting and we hope to have him back to sit our dogs in the future”

“Our big fur baby usually gets very stressed out when we leave on holidays and won’t eat but this was not the case when we left him with Jane for the weekend. He felt very comfortable and even snuggled with her at nighttime. Jane sent us lots of photos and updates throughout the weekend , which was appreciated. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Brandi was absolutely fantastic. She was very responsive. Upon our first meet, she came prepared with a notebook and a form for me to fill out with all the necessary information to ensure a positive experience. During her stay, she sent daily text updates and pictures. She left the house clean and we could tell our dog was well looked after.”

“Highly recommend Karen. She was thoughtful, caring, very attentive to instructions, and truly cared for my pets. During the in-house stay, she treated it with respect as if it was her own.”

“Ashley understood my gangs needs. With 4 big dogs, one of which is very reactive, she did everything needed to keep them happy and safe. She was very responsive, kept me comfortable and sent tons of photos while I was away. She's awesome and I'll definitely be reaching out again.”

About: In addition to care, I offer professional pet photography and portraits that can take place during or outside of bookings. Message for details! :) I am a pre-veterinary student, work at an animal hospital in the NE, and work on the medical team at my favourite animal shelter here in Calgary! In addition to taking care of animals of my own, I have multiple years of experience caring for the needs of dogs, cats, and exotics - ranging from simple to complex needs. Whether it's medical, behavioural, dietary, juvenile, senior, all of the above, or other; I got you covered. My priority is understanding your pet's body language and needs to make sure their experience is as comfortable as possible while meeting their requirements. *Note that my rates are negotiable :) I currently work and study part time, and have flexible availability with my own transportation. I'm available especially at odd, early, or late hours so that we can find the best time for you and your pet. Your pets comfort, safety, and routine is my priority! I have an abundance of experience working with animals in indoor and outdoor environments, and am comfortable using crates, muzzles, harnesses, leads, halters, backpacks, other carriers, etc. to ensure your pet is secure and safe. I'm versed in appropriate and safe handling and restraint techniques and am able to lift heavier loads (i.e. your big babies!).
“We couldn't be more pleased with the care our two cats received during our week away! Gwendolyn and James went above and beyond to make sure our fur babies were comfortable and well-looked after. They kept us updated with regular photos and messages, which gave us peace of mind the entire time. Our cats were happy, healthy, and relaxed when we returned — a true sign of how much attention and love they received. They made sure to play with them and spoiled them with treats, which they absolutely loved. We're so grateful for Gwendolyn & James’s professionalism, kindness, and dedication. Highly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“Gabriella was available on short notice very prompt in responding to our request. It was our first time leaving our dog with someone and we were traveling overseas, so we were a bit nervous. She has a very calm and gentle nature and we know she took very good care of our Lily. We would definitely hire Gabriella again.”

“Laurie took such great care of our puppy. Kiwi was happy to see us but also kept going to the door looking for Laurie. She kept us informed and sent us photos daily. We came home to a very clean house. Thank you Laurie for making us feel completely comfortable leaving Kiwi.”

“Micahl was one of the best sitters we have ever had. The dogs loved him and he treated them so well. He was extremely responsive while we were away and provided updates about how the fur babies were doing. He was such a pleasure to deal with. I absolutely recommend having him support your furry family members!”

“She truly goes above and beyond. She did everything to make sure my poor girl was comfortable as she was having some anxiety issues and she took every extra step to help her get through it. By the end they were besties… which also eased my mind. Was also a special sprite to come home to a house that was put together and dogs that were happy and excited. She will be permanent and regular”

“Jodi was easy to communicate with, the pups enjoyed her, and tons of picture updates! She house sat as well, and it was super comforting to have someone take care of our dogs in our home while we were gone! Will definitely rebook!”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cheadle maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cheadle walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cheadle choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
