Cindy was very caring with both my fur babies. She provided updates and allowed for me to have a stress free time away from them. They were both happy and well cared for when we returned home. I would highly recommend Cindy as a pet sitter.

Daniela did an excellent job looking after our two dogs. Our older dog has some health concerns and Daniela provided great care of her and provided numerous updates and photos during her time with the dogs. She was very responsive with messages and I would recommend her to others for dog sitting jobs.

Etieteen was so great with Molly! I would definitely have him come and puppy sit again. We had to make last minute changes to our travel plans over Christmas that meant we could no longer take molly with us. Etieteen was so accommodating and put me at ease right away. He stayed at our apartment and took such good care of everything for almost a full week. We came home to a happy dog and a clean home. He sent us lots of updates over the 5 days he was watching her and was always available when I needed to contact him. I can tell that Molly received lots of attention and was well taken care of while we were away. She misses her new friend.

She has a very calm and gentle nature and we know she took very good care of our Lily. We would definitely hire Gabriella again.

Fred is fantastic! We adopted a rescue dog in March from the Calgary Humane Society, so we didn’t want to put him in a kennel again since he hadn’t done well there in the past. This was our first time using Rover, and Fred made the experience stress-free from the very beginning. He came for a meet-and-greet at the time of booking, then returned closer to our trip so we could go for a walk together. This helped ensure our dog was comfortable with him—and just as importantly, that we were too. While we were away, Fred kept in touch with regular messages and photo updates. It gave us peace of mind knowing our pup was happy and well cared for, which allowed us to fully enjoy our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely recommend Fred to anyone looking for a caring, reliable dog sitter! Thank you Fred!

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 10 years old and have never gone without having one by my side, so looking after them feels completely natural to me. While I was away at university, I even fostered a couple of dogs because I missed having that companionship so much it was incredibly rewarding to give them love and stability while they waited for their forever homes. I’m comfortable with a range of needs, from energetic puppies who benefit from consistent routines and basic training, to senior dogs who need a gentler, more attentive approach. What sets me apart is the genuine connection I build with every dog I care for as I treat them like my own. Recently, I lost my two dogs, and while I’m not quite ready to bring a new puppy into my home, caring for others’ pets feels like the perfect way to keep sharing that love, attention, and companionship that dogs deserve. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I make it a priority in my day. I’m currently working part-time with a chiropractic internship from Monday to Thursday, which still leaves me with plenty of time and energy to give your dog the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. I’m available on weekdays after 4pm as well as on weekends, making it easy for me to accommodate walks, playtime, feeding schedules, or overnight care. I’m reliable, flexible, and committed to making sure your pet feels happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home. At my place, I have a fully fenced yard for secure outdoor time and supervised play. There is also one friendly 2-year-old Havanese (my parents’ dog), so I’m mindful of introductions and always make sure all dogs feel comfortable and safe. I can easily crate your dog if that’s part of their routine, or they’re welcome to have free roam of the house if preferred. In a client’s home, I respect your space and follow your pet’s usual schedule as closely as possible to keep things consistent and stress-free. My goal is always to create a trustworthy, secure environment where your pet feels relaxed, cared for, and right at home.

FAQs for House Sitting - Okotoks

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Okotoks on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,199 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Okotoks. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Okotoks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Okotoks walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Okotoks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
