“Jessie took care of my two large dogs in my home while I was away for a week. I felt very comfortable leaving them with her and it was evident that both of my dogs loved her and were well cared for. Communication while I was away was excellent as well with daily updates / pictures. Would rebook again!”

“Katie was amazing. Katie came over to our place and met with Bambu and us and was very easy to talk with and give instructions too. Bambu immediately warmed up to Katie and vice versa. Our place was left just as we left it and Katie was in communication with us the entire time we were away. We have already booked her again for a trip we are taking next month. Great person and very professional. Thank you Katie from both of us and especially Bambu!”

“Our 11-week-old puppy loved Sydney the second she laid eyes on her, which my husband and I took as an excellent sign. Sydney was great about sending adorable updates and photos while we were gone, and Cozie was a happy, tuckered pup by the time we returned. We are so glad to have found a go-to sitter for when neither of us are home for an extended period of time. Thanks, Sydney, for taking such good care of our baby!”

“Erika is amazing. She is incredibly professional, but loving. She communicated so well. Gucci wasn’t bothered at all that we were back, which indicates she had a great time with Erika. Thank you for taking such good care of Gucci and being so loving toward her.”

“Natasha was fantastic! This was my puppy Mabels first time with a sitter and Natasha made her feel so comfortable and safe. She played with her and kept her safe and happy. During the day she sent me pics and videos and kept me updated. I highly recommend Natasha when you need a reliable, safe, and friendly sitter! Will definitely be using her services again!”

“Thanks so much for caring for our babies Shaena, you are a real professional and made us feel so at ease when we had so much going on. We loved all the photos, and our home was exactly how we left it.”

“So grateful to have come across Amber. She was so kind & loving to my pup Tucker and sent lots of updates with photos and videos. Tuck absolutely adored her! Would 100% recommend.”

“Kaela is awesome. She is one of the best sitters we have used and our boys really enjoy when she is staying with them! Her communication and updates are excellent and she leaves the house in great condition!”

“Dogs were well taken care of, and even with a hiccup with our house Libby was calm and helpful as we tried to resolve the issue. Would definitely recommend her to friends and will be using her again in the future.”

“My dog LOVES Olivia! She is so sweet and caring. No matter if is just for a couple of hours or the whole weekend, I know that my puppy is having a good time with her. And she always sends me pics and updates about everything. Highly recommend 🤍”

“It was first time for my dog with a pet sitter. My dog was very anxious. Kimberly gave attention to his behaviour in the meet and greet session and managed to calm him during her stay with him. She sent us his photos frequently.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Svitlana. She looked after my large dog Lola in my house for the past week and was so great. She walked her regularly, taught new tricks, was very aware of my dog’s personality, likes/dislikes, and sent regular pictures, videos and updates. My dog was happy and just the right amount of tire on my return. And my house was clean and orderly upon my return I ended up booking her for two more upcoming stays. So nice to go away and know my girl is well taken care of.”

“Ashley was great , she sent pics and updates of my pets throughout the 2 days. My dogs absolutely loved her. They welcomed her right from the meet and greet, she followed all the instructions I left her with. I will be using her again... if she agrees .”

“Christine took good care of my babies Archie and Charlie, followed the care instructions provided, and left the place clean! She is patient, understanding, and dedicated. I would recommend her for taking care of your furbabies.”

“Andria was great watching Volt, she house sat for 17 days, took Volt on walks, and hikes. Volt remained happy and playful throughout the stay. She also kept my plants (indoor and outdoor) alive and watered them as well. When leaving she cleaned and bed sheets as well which is greatly appreciated.”

“Daryna was amazing. She made us completely comfortable and took amazing care of our puppy. Punctual, responsive, totally focused on him and sent us tons of photos and updates. Would gladly book her again!”

“Julie is so very sweet and kind! Very efficient and responsive. Our dog warmed up to her pretty quickly and they had a great night together! She cleaned her own dishes and was very respectful! We will use Julie again without any hesitation. She’s absolutely lovely ☺️”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Calgary
Like so many pet parents, I always struggle to book trips because the thought of leaving my fur baby stresses me out, making it almost impossible to relax. Having Maryam house and pet sit changed all of that. Her daily photo and video updates gave me total peace of mind, so for the first time, I didn't worry at all. I was actually able to disconnect and truly enjoy my time away. Plus, how your dog greets you when you get back says everything. Bobby was thrilled to see me, but he was completely calm, relaxed, and happy—not anxious or out of sorts at all. If you ever hesitate to travel because you worry about leaving your pet, do not hesitate to book Maryam. Your pet and home will be in the best possible hands! Thank you so much, Maryam, from both me and Bobby

Mary Grace has looked after our dog on multiple occasions in our home. She gets along swell with Misty right away and has been great with particular feeding and med requirements. She communicates on a daily basis and leaves our home tidy for our return. Thanks again!

I can’t say enough good things about Natasha! I have a reactive dog and leaving him with anyone is always a bit nerve wracking. She made me feel comfortable from our first meeting and my dog and cat adore her. She was extremely responsive and asked wonderful questions. She updated me with pictures several times throughout the day and eased my mind so much. I would recommend her to anyone!!

Jiayu was absolutely wonderful! She took excellent care of Baxter and Cornelius, including reliably giving multiple medications each day, and spent lots of quality time with them at every visit. It gave me tremendous peace of mind knowing they were in such attentive and capable hands while I was away. I came home to two happy, well-cared-for cats. I would absolutely book Jiayu again and highly recommend her!

Chrizler took such good care of Winnie. They bonded while I was away and I could tell she was very happy and content in his company. Chrizler sent daily updates and pictures of Winnie providing reassurance that she was in good hands. He played with her constantly so that she was active and healthy. I am very happy with his services and I will be using him again.

This is our second time booking Sydney for housesitting. She stayed with our small dog and our cat in our home for three nights over a long weekend. She is wonderful! In touch each day with lots of photos and an update. Our home was well cared for and our pets were looked after 💕 Super easy to communicate and book with, and we trust her 100%!!

Sloan was amazing! This was our first time using Rover, and Sloan immediately made us feel at ease and comfortable having someone stay in our home and care for our 10-year-old beagle. Communication was excellent, and we had peace of mind knowing Harper was happy, safe, and well cared for at home. We would absolutely recommend Sloan!

I’m very happy that Laurie was able to come and look after Mia and my house while I was away. I could tell right from the meet and greet that she was going to care for Mia the same way that I do. She communicated with me daily and I felt at ease that Mia was in good hands and that I could enjoy my vacation fully. I would highly recommend her!!!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Calgary maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Calgary walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Calgary choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
