“This was our first Rover experience, and Erika was amazing! She stayed at our home with our pup for 5 days. She was very responsive, sent multiple photos and videos everyday. She kept our home completely spotless and was extremely kind and respectful. I would highly recommend Erika to anyone, we can’t wait to have her back!!”

“I give a 5 Paw rating (5 paws being the highest). Shaena was asked to look after two Bengal cats for two nights and three days. Bengals are a high energy and maintenance breed. When I arrived home they were happy and calm. Shaena was awesome when it came to communication and the very important task of sending pictures a couple of times a day. When we initially met, the cats liked her and Shaena's calm manner and her centered energy was purfect for looking after the two. I am very pleased and will be using her and the Rover service in the future when I have to leave my pawed companions for any length of time away.”

“I’m so grateful I found Natasha! My youngest Frenchie Luna has a lot of anxiety with new people coming into the home but Natasha sat on the floor calmly and was patient to build that trust and safe space with her and Luna warmed up so quick. While we were out Natasha went above and beyond and sent me pictures of them playing and cuddling which made me so happy and knew that she was the right fit for our crazy frenchies.”

“Kadie and Pinyo are amazing dog sitters! They stayed at my home with my two big dogs for a weekend, and when I returned the house was exactly as I left it and the dogs were happy and healthy. They sent lots of photos and were super easy to communicate with before my trip and while I was away. They are very kind and have a great way with dogs. I’d happily have them care for my dogs again!”

“My dog LOVES Olivia! She is so sweet and caring. No matter if is just for a couple of hours or the whole weekend, I know that my puppy is having a good time with her. And she always sends me pics and updates about everything. Highly recommend 🤍”

“Rosie is fantastic! She is incredibly attentive and goes above and beyond to make owners feel secure and safe : providing commentary and photos daily. Each message reflected a high level of awareness to my dogs needs. She was in constant contact with me and I felt totally confident leaving my pups with her/ would absolutely recommend: amazing dog sitter and super kind person who really seems to love this job and the pets she is entrusted with.”

“Lindsay was great! We have two cats in the middle of a challenging introduction and she was very proactive in looking up the program we are using and adhering to their slightly less than chill schedules right now. Both cats were happy and healthy and we got lots of updates to ease our worry while we were away!”

“Clearly cares about dogs and you can be assured that your pup will receive lots of attention if you use her to watch over your little one(s). Lots of communication which is also very nice as it's always good to hear how things are going. Would recommend if you're looking for someone trustworthy and knowledgeable about how to care for dogs.”

“Great experience. Jullie arrived promptly. She is very easy to talk to and within minutes She and Coco were best friends. She kept in touch with me and handled everything as a professional. I will definitely select her in the future.”

“Kaela took the most amazing photos of my animals while I was away. It’s like getting a professional pet photo session as an add on! My house is in perfect shape and I think my dog liked her more than me which I will forgive her for!”

“Daryna was amazing. She made us completely comfortable and took amazing care of our puppy. Punctual, responsive, totally focused on him and sent us tons of photos and updates. Would gladly book her again!”

“Megan was fantastic!!! We returned home to a happy and healthy pup. Communicate was great, with daily photos. The house was left very clean and tidy which is very appreciated. Would highly recommend Megan and plan to use her on the future.”

“Thank you so much Alicia for taking such great care of our old dog Olive. The updates and pics were very much appreciated. We will definitely be contacting you the next time we need house sitting and a friend for Olive!”

“Absolutely wonderful! She took great care of my cat, to the point where it felt like not much time had past. As a bonus, Nataliia also took the best picture of my cat I've ever seen. Very caring and flexible”

“Hannah was simply fantastic. Hannah stayed at my home for 5 nights with my 2 dogs and 1 cat. She walked the dogs everyday, was very communicative and responsive, sent daily photo updates, and left the house clean and tidy. Additionally, Hannah is a kind and caring person, which was very evident when the dogs instantly took to her. I would highly recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a reputable and caring pet sitter. Thank you, Hannah! 😊”

“We have had the pleasure of having Tamara house sit for our dog several times now. She’s wonderful with my furbaby and communicates often with us while we are away. Our dog was taking medication last time we were away, which is stressful, however, Tamara’s care and attention to our dog allowed us to enjoy our vacation! We will always have Tamara back to house sit!”

About: Animals have been a huge part of my life for over 11 years. I’ve cared for both cats and dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies who are still learning the ropes to senior pets who need a little extra patience and attention. I also have experience with basic puppy training and understand the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, exercise, and plenty of affection. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always aim to make them feel happy, safe, and cared for. Pet care is part of my everyday life. As a cat owner, my mornings typically begin with furry alarm clocks demanding breakfast, attention, and immediate service. Beyond my own pets, I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and already structure my days around feeding schedules, exercise, playtime, and making sure pets feel safe and cared for. Looking after animals isn’t something I squeeze into my schedule, it’s already part of it. Every pet is different, so I adjust my care to fit their personality and routine. Some pets want lots of playtime and activity, while others prefer a calm environment and extra cuddles. I follow feeding schedules, make sure pets get the exercise and attention they need, keep their space clean, and always prioritize their safety and comfort. I treat every pet as if they were my own and do my best to make their time away from their owner feel as easy and stress-free as possible.
“Ji Young did a fantastic job! She had numerous daily updates and pictures and was excellent and attentive to our three senior pets who needed extra care. Ji Young also took excellent care of our house and was very respectful and clean. I would highly recommend her for your upcoming pet sitting needs.”

“Lili was very sweet with our dog! Lots of cuddles which is exactly what he wanted and we got regular pictures and updates. House was also very neat and tidy when we returned. We would happily have Lili back!”

Katie always does an amazing job for us and we continue to use her services when we need someone to care for our precious border collie and our home. We went for an extended holiday and had the peace of mind knowing that everything was taken care of properly and professionally. Thanks again Katie for your services and Bambu thanks you for being such an awesome care giver. She always looked like she was smiling in the pictures you sent!

Sadaf stayed with Teddy for 3 nights and gave her medication twice a day. She sent photos and updates and gave Teddy a lot of attention. When I got home everything was clean and taken care of and Teddy wasn’t hiding or feeling shy so I know she was comfortable while I was gone. Highly recommend!

Daryna is wonderful! This was our first time having a dog sitter from Rover stay at our house looking after our beautiful Roxi. Daryna did a fantastic job with Roxi sending us regular updates and photos, which was greatly appreciated. She took such good care of Roxi that I was afraid Roxi wouldn’t want us back! We will confidently rebook with Daryna in the future. Roxi loved her❤️😊🐕

Kerry was amazing as a live in pet sitter with our two dogs! They warmed up to her right away, and she sent us photo updates the whole time we were gone, which made being away so much easier. They looked happy and relaxed in every single one. On top of taking great care of our pups, she kept our house spotless too. We came home to everything clean and in great shape, no surprises, no mess. Such a relief. Kerry is reliable, trustworthy, and clearly loves what she does. We'd book her again in a heartbeat and recommend her to anyone needing a sitter who really goes above and beyond. Thanks, Kerry!

Kadie and Pinyo helped care for my 13 week old puppy for the day and they were amazing! They took the time to meet up before the booking, and it was clear how much love and care they have for animals. They had great communication, provided updates throughout the day, and were adaptable when I had a slight change of plans. My pup seemed very happy after spending the day with them. I would 100% recommened them to anyone looking for a sitter!

Seeley was nothing short of incredible. Her knowledge and expertise is clearly quite impressive as she was able to quite quickly understand my dogs quirks and seamlessly integrate into his daily routine. She was exceptionally kind and respectful of my house and went above and beyond in terms of giving my dog the best experience possible. I will certainly be booking with her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Calgary
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Calgary on Rover is $53.33 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,286 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Calgary. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Calgary maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Calgary walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Calgary choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
