“We had such a great experience with Lynda watching Oliver—he came home a very happy pup! From the initial meet and greet to the final pick-up, everything went smoothly. Lynda kept me updated daily with photos and messages, which was incredibly reassuring, especially since it was my first time leaving my pet with a sitter. We’ll absolutely be booking with her again!”

“Our 5-year-old Pippin was a happy camper during his first holiday at Sandra’s and Jessie’s. He had, of course, met both of them at the ‘meet and greet’ at their home, but what really surprised us was how excited he was when we dropped him off. He knew precisely where we had taken him and he raced up their front steps and started barking with excitement at the front door. Clearly, Sandra and Jessie and their very sweet dog Daisy had made a great first impression! Both Sandra and Jessie are dog lovers and dog carers par excellence and that put Pippin and us at ease. Throughout Pippin’s two-week stay, Sandra sent us daily updates with photos, which was fun and informative. Pippin is an extremely well-behaved dog, so much so he never jumps on furniture (despite all our encouragement), but Sandra has a secret weapon—dog stairs for couch access!—and she taught Pippin how to use them. When I went to pick up Pippin, he was very excited to see me—lots of licks!—but he also turned to Sandra to give her licks, too, as if to say ‘thank you’. We have no doubt that Pippin will be delighted to spend more time with Sandra, Jessie and Daisy in the future!”

“Stacy and Iain are great with Ralphie. He loves playing with the other dogs. Thanks for all the pics you guys. It really helps to know he is a happy healthy dog while I am away!”

“Paula is amazing!! My little guy is not accustomed to being left without me anywhere…but Paula cared for him like he was her own! She provided regular pictures & updates to show how he’d settled in loving her sofa, fenced yard and walks. Can’t thank you enough, Paula! Will definitely be on your doorstep again!!! her yard.”

“Eileen is highly responsible, reliable, and treats your pet as her own. She's very communicative, provides daily photos and updates, takes dogs for lots of adventures and keeps you updated through the process.”

“Pamela was amazing with Monroe. Having a bigger breed can sometimes be intimidating but Pamela’s soft and gentle approach was the right fit for Monroe. Pamela made sure Monroe got her walks in and updates were sent. I would definitely recommend Pamela to anyone looking for a dog sitter. Will definitely be booking again.”

“Louie loved his weekend with James and Kasha! They were easy to communicate with, sent lots of updates and took care of our boy just as we would have. Will book with them in the future! Thanks guys!”

“Rebecca was excellent with my senior dog. She adapted care to meet his needs. She communicated regularly and really cared for Harold. He came back so happy and I was able to get away for the long weekend.”

“Shelly took great care of my pup! I knew right away from her kind presence that Mika would be well taken care of while I was away. Fast response and plenty of updates were a bonus!”

“Stephanie was very easy to work with. Our dog Chewie was timid at first (as usual), but then seemed to warm up and have a nice time at Stephanie‘s place. Stephanie was also flexible with drop off and pick up. We got photos of our updates and overall we’re very happy with our dog’s brief stay at her place. Will book here again.”

“Like many people mention, it’s always a bit nerve wracking to leave your fur baby with a complete stranger, but our experience with Mai put my heart at ease and reminded me that most people in the world are good… Mai is THE BEST!!! From the moment we met, my buddie Sherpa seemed loved, prioritized, and completely at ease. He is a big boy (70 lbs) and Mai had no hesitation taking over and lovin on him. She remained in contact during the entire duration, sending pics and vids and letting me know about all the fun they were up to. I often joked that Sherpa was having a better vacation than me! We parted ways with me feeling like we made a new friend and a forever trustworthy pet sitter. Mai will forever be my #1 choice for Sherpa care in Calgary, I only wish I could bring her along on my road trip and have her help everywhere! Don’t think twice, trust in Mai!! 🐾💕”

“Kim is hands down the best sitter I’ve found on Rover! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to watch my Pomeranian. She treated him like he was her own, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She has the sweetest little Pomeranian herself, and the two of them got along so well. It was obvious my dog was having the best time! Kim sent lots of photos, videos, and updates throughout his stay, which I really appreciated. Her home is every dog’s dream, she has so many toys, a ball pit, a pool, and a beautiful, secure yard for them to run around and play in. You can tell she genuinely loves dogs and goes above and beyond to make sure they’re happy, safe, and well cared for. I honestly can’t recommend Kim enough. She’s by far the best sitter I’ve found on Rover, and I’ll absolutely be booking with her again. If you’re looking for someone who will love and care for your dog like family, she’s the one!”

“Karen was wonderful with our almost one year old mini Aussie shepherd. From the moment we dropped him off we felt a sense of warmth and knew he was in good hands. The photos and videos throughout his visit really helped to put our mind at ease that he was having a wonderful time. I would highly recommend Karen.”

“My dog had a lovely day out at Martha's. Her cmmunication was excellent, she treated my dog very well, was friendly and sensitive to the pet's needs. Added bonus was Millie made new friends too! Millie was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. Can't thank you enough, Martha. Will see you again.”

“Hannah was a great handler for my energetic GSP. I also liked that she had so many questions during the meet and greet - it showed that she was committed to making him as comfortable as possible. She was also accommodating picking up and dropping off Trigger. Would highly recommend!”

About: I've had dogs since I was a kid and have dog sat for friends throughout college and my master's. I'm currently without a dog and would love to spend some time with pups again as I love going for walks, the snuggles, play time, and even the messes that come with having a dog. I'm currently working part-time so taking care of your pup is a priority to me! I work evenings which I find works best with a lot of dog's schedules as they want to be playing, going for walks, and active during daytime hours. I live in a dog friendly apartment with no current dogs so am happy to have your pup in my home in the way that they're used to without being bothered (be that crate, sleeping on the sofa, or with me). I'm a 3 minute walk from a lovely park so taking the dogs there to stretch their legs is the better option than staying downtown.
“Ziying is super caring and considerate! She brought DingDing to lots of walks. She sent me photos and videos every day and is very responsive. It was a great experience with Ziying and I’ll rebook with her going forward!”

“Riell was great with Link! She sent updates and photos every day and treated him as family during the stay! It was our first time using Rover and she did a great job explaining everything and making us feel comfortable leaving our pup. We will definitely use her again!”

If I could give Daryna 100 stars, I would. Daryna watched Piper while I was on an extended vacation and I have never felt more at ease leaving her with someone. We met prior so we could ensure it was a good fit, and then once I was away, Daryna provided regular updates and pictures of how Piper was doing, and she even went out of her way to get her a birthday treat! I am so thankful to know Piper was in such good hands and will definitely book with her again. Thanks again Daryna !! :)

Julien took such good care of our cat, and did such a great job of making him feel comfortable and at home. Excellent communication skills to keep us up to date on how our cat was doing and lots of photos and videos to prove it, and even got some training started for us! Thanks so much for looking after Hobbes for us Julien!

Karina was attentive to my cat's needs during her stay, and it was clear my cat quickly trusted her. We received plenty of photos showing how relaxed my cat was in her home. I greatly appreciate the care provided, and would happily rebook with Karina. Thank you so much!

Taylor took such great care of Sophie during her weekend stay! She sent several updates and photos throughout the weekend, which gave me so much peace of mind. She has such a calm, caring demeanour and is clearly wonderful with animals. Sophie was in such good hands, and I couldn’t recommend Taylor enough!

I was nervous to leave the country for two weeks and leave my senior cat , Arthur, with a stranger, but Madeline took such great care of him! He warmed up to her (and her boyfriend) right away and getting regular updates with photos gave me the peace of mind that I needed that he was well taken care of. He was reluctant to come home with me when I picked him up lol:-). I would not hesitate to leave Arthur in Madeline’s care again in the future!

Megan was so excellent with my dog Nala! She made so much progress with her fear of walking. She’s a new rescue about 2 months, somehow Megan worked her magic and since Nala got home she’s been able to go on much further walks. I’m thrilled and appreciate what she was able to do for my dog in just a 24 hour stay!

Bri did an amazing job looking after my 5-month-old puppy, Teva, for several days. She was very understanding about the puppy behaviours and energy levels, and she helped reinforce some training that we are working on. Bri was great at introducing Teva to her own pets, and it was a great opportunity for Teva to spend time around other dogs. I would definitely recommend Bri to anyone needing a trustworthy sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
