“Kayleigh did a great job at house sitting with my 2 dogs and 2 cats. They absolutely loved her and she was respectful of the rules I set. Will definitely book again, I recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter”

About: Hello! My name is Sara! I’ve had pets my entire life and enjoy caring for others in addition to my own. I have experience caring for cats and dogs of different sizes and breeds, including those with extra needs such as medications. I have one dog of my own named Willow, she is a black lab mix with a lot of energy. While I'm not able to host other dogs at my place, I'm more than happy to take care of your pets in the comfort of their own home. I have a regular day to day job that has me out of the house for 8 - 9 hours a day Monday through Friday. What care routine do you follow in your home? The routine you have set is what will be followed while I'm caring for your pets.

“Brandi was absolutely fantastic. She was very responsive. Upon our first meet, she came prepared with a notebook and a form for me to fill out with all the necessary information to ensure a positive experience. During her stay, she sent daily text updates and pictures. She left the house clean and we could tell our dog was well looked after.”

“Lauren was amazing if we could give her more than 5 stars we would. This was our first time not putting the dogs in a kennel when we travelled, Lauren made all our anxiety about leaving our fur babies go away before we even left for our trip. She kept us updated and sent lots of amazing pictures and videos of the dogs. Not only did she take amazing care of our dogs, I came back to a house that looked better then what we left it, Lauren went above and beyond for us, and there are not enough words to say how much we appreciated her, we could enjoy our trip without any stress, Best part we came home to happy dogs, which was not the case when they previously stayed at a kennel, I would 100% recommend Lauren and hope she will watch the dogs again for us.”

“Kaitlyn was amazing! She House Sat for me while I was away for two days to watch my dog Sibil and did such a great job. The house was super clean when I got back, and it’s clear she has a lot of experience with dogs. She’s really friendly, reliable, and kept me updated with cute pictures of Sibil on their walks. I felt completely at ease knowing Sibil was in such good hands. Highly recommend!.”

“Borys & Purity were great. The dogs loved them and their energy they bring to the sit. They took good care of our dogs, fed them on time and went for a long walk. Chewy & Nova are lap dogs so loved the cuddles. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing their house and dogs taken care of while they are away.”

“Jodi was easy to communicate with, the pups enjoyed her, and tons of picture updates! She house sat as well, and it was super comforting to have someone take care of our dogs in our home while we were gone! Will definitely rebook!”

“Ashley understood my gangs needs. With 4 big dogs, one of which is very reactive, she did everything needed to keep them happy and safe. She was very responsive, kept me comfortable and sent tons of photos while I was away. She's awesome and I'll definitely be reaching out again.”

“Anne was amazing with our kitty, Daisy! Daisy is usually very shy and skittish, but she took to Anne right away, which really put us at ease. Anne sent daily updates and photos, which we truly appreciated and made it so easy to relax while we were away. It was clear she spent quality time with Daisy and made sure she felt comfortable and cared for. We also came home to an immaculate house. We would absolutely book with Anne again and highly recommend her!”

“Shelby was amazing with our girl!! She was able to calm my anxious girl who has separation anxiety. My girl loved her the moment she walked into our home. They went on a walk and Shelby just won her over with cuddles and pets. This was my first time leaving my girl with anyone and Shelby surely took great care of her. 🙂”

About: 🐾 About Me Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I have extensive hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and reptiles, and I've spent years pet-sitting for friends and family while always sharing my home with animals of my own. I currently have two cats and 2 dogs, all rescues, and definitely all the best decisions I ever made! :) 🐕 My Experience In addition to caring for my own pets and pet sitting for friends and family, I have volunteered in civilian rescue and transport for high-risk dogs and served as a volunteer cat caregiver with AARCS. 😊 The Rescue of Sally and Her Puppies. I rescued and transported a lot of dogs and cats over the past few years, but the biggest undertaking was helping rescue a mother dog, who we later named Sally, and her 8 one-day-old puppies from a reserve in Alberta during -38°C temperatures. I transported this special fur family to my dog trainer's acreage where we set up a secure, safe, warm area. I learned how to care for them and help with early socialization, structure, and training to prepare them for life with their future families. Every puppy, and Sally herself, has since been adopted into loving, forever homes. Being part of something like this was definitely one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life! I am in a position with much flexibility and availability in my schedule, allowing me to easily accommodate most booking requests with little advanced notice. ❤️ Your Pet Is Family Every pet parent should have worry-free, stress-free pet care. I will treat your animals with the same love, and your home with the same respect, as I do my own. I understand that every animal, just like people, is unique. I'll take the time to earn their trust, understand their needs, likes, and dislikes, so they will be well cared for, and they will get an abundance of fun and cuddles! Whether we're going for a walk, playing in the yard, or simply keeping each other company while you're away, you will receive photos and messages during our visits so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your fur-baby is in caring, capable hands.
“Teri is phenomenal. She is punctual and thoughtful and took excellent care of our dogs. One of our dogs is high energy and the other is a 150-lb puppy and she is capable of managing both without issue. I highly recommend Teri!”

“Laurie provided great care and love to my two dogs. She appreciated and managed their quirks and provided lots of updates while we were away. I would definitely hire her again. Thanks Laurie!”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover who has grown up surrounded by dogs, cats and small pets (10+yrs). I take any opportunity to meet an animal friend :) I have done lots of caring for them and it's has always been a natural part of my daily life. Over the years I’ve gained hands‑on experience with feeding routines, medication support, senior pet comfort and keeping anxious pets calm while their owners are away. I truly enjoy building trust with each animal and making sure they feel safe, relaxed and understood. I offer in‑home pet sitting, drop‑in visits, dog walking, and extended stays. Each visit includes feeding, fresh water, litter or yard clean‑up, playtime and plenty of affection. I am comfortable giving medications and at home special care too as I've treated animals after major surgery, through chronic illness, anxiety and disabled. I care for most dogs and cats, as well as small pets like rabbits or hamsters. I also have experience with fish, hermit crabs, birds and lizards. I myself have had dogs, rabbits, hamsters, fish and a bearded dragon. I’m available for daytime visits, evenings and weekends. I always keep owners updated with messages and photos. My goal is to make your pet’s routine feel seamless and comforting while you’re gone. Loving them is important as they are family 🩷 I am an online student who fills my days taking care of animals and picking up a shift here and there at my part time job. I have full‑time availability and a very flexible daily routine. I have my own reliable transport. I’m home throughout most of the day, which allows me to adjust to each animal’s needs whether that’s morning feedings, midday check‑ins or calm evening visits. I’ve spent my whole life around animals of all kinds and I’m very patient, gentle and attentive to their comfort. Because my schedule is so open, I’m able to provide steady, reliable care without rushing and I make sure every visit feels calm, predictable, and safe. Your pet’s routine becomes my routine and I’m always happy to give them the time, attention and reassurance they need. I always focus on creating a calm, safe and loving environment where animals can relax and feel secure. In a client’s home, I follow their routines exactly as described including feeding schedules, litter or bathroom habits, preferred play styles and any special instructions. I move slowly with new animals, give them space to approach me at their own pace and pay close attention to their body language so they never feel overwhelmed. I keep doors, gates and windows secure, double‑check that food and cleaning supplies are out of reach and make sure their space stays tidy and comfortable. If an animal is shy, anxious or needs extra reassurance I’m patient and gentle, letting them build trust naturally. My goal is to make every visit feel predictable, safe, and soothing so your pet feels cared for and you feel confident knowing they’re in reliable hands.
“Madison is WONDERFUL. We had such a great experience with her, she took amazing care of our 2 labs, last minute even! She was on time and communicated at all stages of the booking. It truly felt like having a family member stay. Highly recommend her! 10/10”

About: I’ve cared for animals for most of my life and have experience with dogs, cats, birds, fish, puppies, senior pets, rescues, and large dogs over 100 lbs. My first dog growing up was a Border Collie named Zero, and I’ve also cared for multiple poodles and two cats named Bandit and Shadow. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort level. I’ve also been involved with animal rescue work, including helping with Wyoming Pug Rescue. That experience taught me patience, calm handling, and how important it is to earn trust, especially with shy, anxious, reactive, or rescue animals. I’m comfortable with puppies, senior pets, large breeds, special diets, mobility issues, eye drops, medications, breathing concerns, seizures, and pets who need extra patience. I currently offer dog walking, drop in visits, and overnight care in your home. My goal is to keep your pet’s routine as normal and stress free as possible while giving you clear updates, photos, and peace of mind. I work for myself and run my business from my laptop, which gives me very flexible availability for pet care. I’m currently available for daytime visits, evenings, weekends, holidays, dog walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays in your home when my calendar is open. Because my schedule is flexible, I can usually work around your pet’s normal routine instead of forcing them into mine. Whether your pet needs a morning walk, midday drop-in, evening visit, medication timing, or overnight companionship, I’ll do my best to keep things consistent, calm, and reliable. For overnight care, I only accept bookings that I can properly commit to, since I can’t be in two homes overnight at the same time. I provide care in the client’s home and neighborhood, so I take trust, cleanliness, and home respect very seriously. I’m clean, well spoken, non-smoking, drug-free, and careful when entering and leaving a client’s home. I make sure doors, gates, crates, collars, harnesses, and leashes are secure, and I follow each pet parent’s instructions closely. Before a booking, I like to confirm feeding routines, walk expectations, medication instructions, emergency contacts, vet information, house access, leash rules, and any behaviours I should know about. I’m comfortable with senior pets, puppies, large dogs, shy animals, anxious pets, reactive dogs, rescues, and pets with mobility or medical needs. I also drive and have a valid driver’s license and insurance, which gives added peace of mind in case of an emergency. During visits and overnight stays, I’ll provide updates and photos so you know your pet is safe, comfortable, and cared for.
“Micahl was one of the best sitters we have ever had. The dogs loved him and he treated them so well. He was extremely responsive while we were away and provided updates about how the fur babies were doing. He was such a pleasure to deal with. I absolutely recommend having him support your furry family members!”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Strathmore maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Strathmore walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Strathmore choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
